    UPDATE: It greatly saddens me that I can no longer recommend buying from Broken Anvil.
    Like many of you, I was a huge fan of this company, their products, and had invested a lot of my own time and money into these kickstarters.
    However, it’s starting to look like the future of this company and its products/kickstarters is in question. I’m still getting caught up on the details myself, so I would advise you to do your own research before supporting them any further.

    Thank you Dana! I put a lot of love into designing these paints and I appreciate the time you've taken here!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

    Hey Dana, heads up, the future of the company and the Kickstarter delivery is in question. Maybe this should be addressed in the next video since it seems like the paints, forged, and rivenstone are in limbo.

    I've been trying to shift my paint range from Reaper to Vallejo, and now you got me considering Anvil as well. As much as I get a giggle out of the thematic names for some paintlines (shoutout to Goblin Green), I really prefer it when it's more straightforward. 0-5 seems as honest as it gets. Thanks, Dana! And good luck on hitting 100k soon!!

      Try some scale 75, super pigmented and covers really well

    These do look promising and well thought out as a system. Thank you for a very clear explanation and demonstration.

    Dana, this is exactly the kind of informative and transparent content I'm here for. Thank you so much for the quality of work you contribute to the community.

    Things like the Cool Black and Warm White, they remind me of a lot of things I used to do while working on pixel art in my free time. I usually never use a true black, I go with a very dark blue that's basically a black and similar to the white depending on the "heat" level I want with the final product.

    That is so awesome! I wish more pigment creators across the artistic sphere would put that kind of thought into how the overall line works with itself. Nothing like seeing that 5 of a manufacturer’s 87 greens look really nice, and they make 2 yellows. Hahaha! These are clearly made for just that kind of artistic experimentation, I really like your assessment of them!

    What an exciting paint line! I come to miniature painting from a professional artist perspective and I was giggling with glee while watching you swatch the colors. This is exactly what we need for our community to confidently start learning color mixing and reduce frustration while doing so. Awesome stuff.

    As a mini painter with a fine art background, I love the idea of a paint range designed for minis but with actual art theory in mind rather than each bottle having some esoteric name.
    Bonus points for being more colorblind accessible and not calling any colors 'flesh'

    • @allgravygames
      @allgravygames ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a fine art background as well, so that's why I took it the direction I did.

    It's like someone looked at the modern mini paint market and said, "okay, but what if you could _actually_ mix the paints together and get exactly what you'd expect to get?"
    As opposed to getting something weird, because every paint is actually multiple pigments smashed together, so mixing them more just complicates matters.
    Also, having dedicated variants for Neutral, Cool, and Warm colors is brilliant. Especially if that's what they're described as in the final product.

    I hope canadian shops will be able to carry these at retail eventually! Definitely would be tempted by the white/black/magenta sets if I can impulse-purchase em in the future, they seem really solid

    I’m so sad that these paints won’t ever get made now. Paired with big gratitude that I was able to get a refund for the paint KS, and at least partial for forged 🙁

    These look great! Wonderful video! Also, I appreciate the Spikey Bits friendly intro. I would hate for them to have to write another thoughtful and unbiased review of another content creator's paint like review.

  • @slow_runner

    Sould love to see some videos on these being used Speedpaint style first and then to highlight it up. That's what got me to pull the trigger on these; having one paint line that did everything, instead of having to buy a Contrast paint first and then another pot of basically then another of more or less the same color to do the highlights.

    These look great, it's always good to get a yellow that covers well.
    The only issue I can see is that they don't have a pale sand.

    Dana, thank you for this review! I just bought the ALL-IN KS package and was wondering if that was such a wise idea since I already own multiple paint brands. Would you consider making another video showing the differences between mixing various hues across the cold and warm ranges?

    @Dana I'm finding this video kind of late, and it looks like I've missed the ship on this kickstarter. I'm really just trying to get my hands on the blacks and whites, do you know where I can find an equivalent range of colors? Maybe some retail stores backed this and they'll stock some of these.

  • @mrgunn2726

    Thanks for this review. I am curious why you chose paper for your colour study, would not have primed plastic been a more representative surface to paint? I like how Stahly uses those plastic grid squares.

  • @abcdodd
    @abcdodd ปีที่แล้ว

    Are...these paints available currently? I've been thinking nonstop about this since it dropped. I've been painting miniatures since 1980. I'm also colourblind, so a numbered/grid system..... mmmmm.... sooo good! I happen to love SoFlat. I had hoped to have a silly big army painted up for 10th edition 40k, but that seems impossible now. May I ask what that bottom deep Indigo is called. i'm honestly dreaming about this.

    The naming for the set is just terrible. Broken anvil really?? You need pretty serious reason to add "broken" word in any brand's name, I guess its one of the worst decisions in terms of branding for paint set.
