As you guys said, Leatherface has to be a supporting character. The fact that there's a whole family makes it scarier. It's as if they don't get the character at all. Maybe next they'll make a Friday 13th with a wise cracking Jason.
Speaking of Friday the 13th, this movie would have worked much better as a F13th entry, it's much more geared towards that tone along with the Jason styled kills.

They should have had someone accidentally revive Leatherface with lighting in the beginning in order to explain why a senior citizen is brushing off a car accident, several gunshot wounds, a stabbing, and a chainsaw to the face.
I always think it's funny that studios expect us to take a sequel more seriously because it's a DIRECT sequel to the original. As if that means anything. Great review, fellas!

You were right about these being "Jason" kills. This is a wet squib of a movie that insults the chilling original. Happy Friday the 13th, boys! You get so much mileage out of those "Halloween" clips!
I was truly expecting you guys to love this one, so color me surprised. I loved this movie it was a splatter ton of fun, a very annoying group of kids like usual getting their comeuppance at the hands of ol' Leather. Him getting his mask from the mother figure he loved was really awesome, they gave her such a distinctively taut face, prime for the skinning, I thought it was one of the more eerie masks ever for him. Dumb kids doing dumb things? This is horror. Since it's the same pattern for literally hundreds of others in the genre that I love dearly, I was very pleased. And that ending - so worth it, as it should be for that character. 9 films in, the last thing I want is the same old thing, it was punk to have Leatherface being creative and gorier than ever. Add in that it's anti cancel culture made this even more awesome. Don't mess with Texas, right? This is the kind of movie that if it existed in the 80s, I'd expect to see on this show talking about how fun it was. Most of the horror channels I follow really liked it and when I saw this review pop up, I got excited. Love you guys, thanks for a fun review even the results were unexpected, entertaining as always. Definite treasure for me but what do I know, I've got love for every film in this franchise.
OK believe it or not this film does have some inspiration from a real life events. In regards to a group of hipsters buying a town. After the success of Batman 1989 Kim Bassinger bought a little town, I want to say in the state of Georgia. Everyone thought it was pretty bizzare. Now people didn't get massacred but if I remember correctly she was going to try and make it into a tourist attraction similiar to what the hipsters planned on doing in this movie (yes I used the word hipsters twice). When the premise of this movie was released it reminded me of what Bassinger did in the early 90s. The odd thing is that the area of Georgia where she bought the property has been in the news lately for where the young black man was murdered while jogging.

TCM22 is a pleasant surprise an definitly a TREASURE! I expected trash like TCM4 or 3, but this turned out to be great! Much better than the recent disappointing Halloween Kills. "TCM meets City Slickers" = great concept. Excellent cinematography, great gore, good scenes of suspense. Sure, it can not touchTCM1 or TCM2, but it is slightly better than 3D and The Beginning and way better than the rest of the franchise.
We actually quite like Part 3! Part 2 is amazing and totally stands on it's own merit. We can see how people like this new one if you just wanna kick back and enjoy some splatter. But yes, this is still better than part 4, it's hard to get worse than that one!
Everything about the cinematography is trash too, it's so dark and weirdly graded so you can't even see some of the action properly due to poor (post production) lighting.
Thanks gents for saving me 2hr or whatever this piece of trash is! I'm not going near this steaming pile. Netflix has SO much dough, they seem to be throwing $ at any old IP to see if they strike gold. So sadly, the molesting of our favourite classics will continue...

I gave it a three out of five which may be a bit generous, I kept going back and forth between 2.5 and 3. They just better continue this story line because I'm over direct sequels to the first one.
Hmm, the main actress looks like Audrey Horne of Twin Peaks. Cute. Alice Krige is always intriguing but has been in better fare than this. The actress playing Sally was one of the cult members in Mandy which, oddly enough, had a chainsaw fight scene in.
One thing I recently read was it a lot of the films being made today and television shows all written by very young people in their 20s and They really just don’t know how to write screenplays and it may be a part of woke culture or cancel culture but they they’re just not good writers you just look at it all the movies that are being put out today they r horrible they’re just horrible every movie being made is just complete and utter trash and maybe only one treasure occasionally Hollywood has just shot themselves in the foot and they’re not coming back. Sad but true.

I was riffing with a buddy while watching TCM 2022 AKA LeatherFacebook, and in that regard - having missed most of the exposition and "character building" - enhanced my enjoyment of it, because judging it just based on the gore scenes, I had a good time watching it considering my expectations for any new Chainsaw entry is a deficit. Have you guys watched Leatherface 2017? That is the only one I haven't watched and it looks like a low tier version of Devil's Rejects.

I honestly wish they'd stop making Chainsaw movies, Friday the 13th movies (not that they have recently, due to the legal wrangling), Nightmare movies, Halloween movies, etc. I didn't go see the most recent Halloween movie, as it didn't look particularly good and the previous one was good, but nothing special and really should have been the last, but nooooo, they have to make it a frigging trilogy, because why make one movie when you can stretch it out to a trilogy? Nothing I have seen about this new Chainsaw movie has gotten my interest. The premise sounds stupid (maybe dumber than the premise for Halloween Resurrection). The characters seem terrible. Leatherface's mask looks horrendous. Also, people really need to stop with these sequels/prequels that have the same title as the original. Best way to do that, in my opinion, is to just not make these garbage sequels to 40 year old movies in the first place. Maybe I am just a grumpy old guy now, though. Great job, guys. Keep 'em coming!

Leatherface also wasn't a malicious killer in the original, he only killed because his family raised him that way and would abuse him if he didn't comply, he was also severely mentally disabled, logically Leatherface should've ended up in a mental institution but even if he were released or got out, I can't imagine him killing anyone unprovoked or without the influence of his abusive family, they completely assassinated his character here, he wasn't a monster, he was a victim, a tool of his genuinely evil family that were capable of higher thought and rationale, yet discarded morality and took advantage of their disabled brother.

No we didn't review Halloween Kills, we really should have, but we weren't fans of it. We dug the flashback scene which was really the best part of the movie (except fake Loomis). The rest of the movie was laughable at best. Like this it was just a gore fest with no real tension. The social commentary was way to blatant and in your face, and the comedy again was too forced and took away from any sense of horror they were trying to create.
I too felt like a fucking asshole while watching this pile of garbage. It made me want to keep drinking but in a bad way. Thanks for making a review that was 1/8th the length of the movie and 8x as entertaining.

I’d love to see you guys do a ranking of the entire franchise. What a whirlwind of a franchise it’s been. Virtually no continuity. If you guys thought this was trash, I’m sure you think most of these sequels are trash and I’d love to hear your opinions on some of the other stink bombs like Next Generation or Texas Chainsaw 3D. With that said, obviously the original is a classic but I do love the very first sequel with Dennis Hopper. Super fun/goofy movie. And the remake & prequel were also fun modern horror movies.

HahHaha! What a great surprise getting this episode tonight! I nearly spit my water out when you guys referenced the Halloween Kills Loomis moment “did he kill again?!…” 🤣😂 Did you guys ever review Halloween Kills? What did y’all think ?
No we didn't review Halloween Kills, we really should have, but we weren't fans of it. We dug the flashback scene which was really the best part of the movie (except fake Loomis). The rest of the movie was laughable at best. Like this it was just a gore fest with no real tension. The social commentary was way to blatant and in your face, and the comedy again was too forced and took away from any sense of horror they were trying to create.
I too felt like a fucking asshole while watching this pile of garbage. It made me want to keep drinking but in a bad way. Thanks for making a review that was 1/8th the length of the movie and 8x as entertaining.

I’d love to see you guys do a ranking of the entire franchise. What a whirlwind of a franchise it’s been. Virtually no continuity. If you guys thought this was trash, I’m sure you think most of these sequels are trash and I’d love to hear your opinions on some of the other stink bombs like Next Generation or Texas Chainsaw 3D.
With that said, obviously the original is a classic but I do love the very first sequel with Dennis Hopper. Super fun/goofy movie. And the remake & prequel were also fun modern horror movies.

I agree 100% guys omg this movie sucked so bad it hurt lol so very disappointing and cringe worthy. The whole time I was watching it I was thinking to myself I could be watching the original film lol. For sure trash.
