@J Will If I fail a lift I only fail it by like a few pounds lmao. If I'm going for 315 and fail, I can probably do like 305-310 so all he needs to take off is like 5-10 lbs. The problem was that the guy benching loaded wayy too much weight.
Spotting squats is different though. I feel like strong spotters for squats is probably a good thing.

I fully agree with you on the using clamps issue while benching alone.. i've been called out for not using clamps and they told me they would spot me. i just said no, i'm good i don't need a spot at the moment and i feel their is absolutely no reason to use clamps while i'm benching. i've never in my life had a 45 pound weight or even a 10 pound weight shift while i was benching. unless i had complete shit form, i see no reason at all to ever use a clamp when benching ever. never have never will.
