    Best part was the importance of good story telling to capture an audience. The key thing that stood out to me was when Andrew said "bad story is when there's no lack of information". MOST scientists/PhDs can learn this from a comedian. Don't have to show EVERY piece of information during your presentations. Create suspense. Be comfortable with pauses.

      Doesn’t all psychology take biology into account? What kinda psychologist doesn’t?

    • @aidanshoey
      @aidanshoey ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@MarthMain there’s many different branches of psychology that specialize in certain topics. psychopharmacology (drugs/medicine), abnormal psychology (disorders), biological psychology (link between physical biology and psychology), as well as many different psychological perspectives like operant vs classical conditioning (behavioral) or the biological perspective (physiology).
      psychiatrists/psychologists of course take biology into account with their clients and in their studies. but depending on their background, they may lean towards one of these psychological perspectives in their explanations for cause or for treatments. a psychologist who specialized in abnormal psych will likely not be involved in the same studies as a psychopharmacologist. the field of psychology involves countless clinical studies and not every psychologist goes and becomes a therapist. being a specialist doesn’t mean you disregard all the other aspects of your field.

      i think andrew huberman tho is like an AI, its hard to interrupt him and make jokes or lead him into weird talks, coz if you have listened to him few times you will notice that you will never really see many new things he says, he basically talks about all the same things mostly. im a huge fan of his videos tho, as they are very informative, but he doesnt fit well with comedians.

    Everyday No cost Tips:
    1. Sunlight in the mornings, make it fun. Set the internal clock to go to sleep well at night.
    2. Exercise (3 days strength, 3 days cardio of aerobic, anaerobic and full body like swimming).
    3. Physiological Stress Control (double-inhale one short one long, exhale through the mouth - Nose breather not mouth breather)
    4. Some practice that makes you more resilient (i.e. cold shower, end on warm shower after 3 mins - maybe exercise too from point 2?) to get a nice dopamine high the rest of the day
    5. Avoid Toxic Relationships as they can really redirect a positive path that you may be on
    Bonus: Eat a variety of foods, not all soft. Hard foods help shape teeth and face structure in a very aesthetically pleasing way.

    What Dr. Huberman said about THC and psychosis is true, and I hate that the community refuses to acknowledge this and promote weed as this safe substance. My friend and I used to smoke weed like everyday in highschool and we used to smoke on those THC pens as well. During the pandemic, we were forced to quit, and my friend started to have insane paranoia while being sober, always thought someone was following us, hear voices in his head, and would just be constantly agitated.

      That was always there with your friend, THC probably brought it out. Just like if he drinks enough alcohol, guarantee he will have a mental break. However compared to alcohol, weed is 99.9% safer. It’s why people ignore the potential negative side effects of weed. There’s risks for everything but as a form of indulgence, weed is one of the better ones.

    • @gordon8983
      @gordon8983 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @Edward I'm not saying you because u stated it pretty well. But alot of weed supporters don't acknowledge risk and can only say its safer than alcohol. I think mostly everyone agrees with this and the debate on why it's illegal is for a different time.
      However, just like anything, too much of anything is bad and yes weed falls into that category. I have family members that smoke everyday and they may not have physical dependence but mentally they have serious issues when they can't get high.

I was taking 100mg (at a time) of vyvanse about 2 times a month to finish papers that i was staring the night of being due the next day. I’ve never felt anything quite like that but looking back i realize how dangerous and stupid i was. I used to pop one at 10pm stay up all night writing, go to my classes the next day, hop on video games and not go to bed until 2-3 AM the next day. Also i was stacking energy drinks on top of this, i’m seriously lucky i never went into cardiac arrest.
