Dear everyone, if you like Joe Pera's show please can we leave more user reviews online, like on metacritic? The media aren't promoting it much because it's not getting enough user ratings and reviews. If it doesn't get enough advertisement Joe might not be able to keep it going, and become a bricklayer again! Please upvote the comment to get the word out, thank you all.

@John Wick It's just not your cup of tea! Humor is not even the main focus of his content and it's not supposed to even be the type people will laugh out loud with.
He is just gently rambling about things, which for most of us it's sweet and relaxing. When am having a bad day i feel better after watching his videos!

Sounds to me like you just don't understand his content or that it just doesn't appeal to you. That's not an issue.

Instead of going to bed on time, I drank a coffee after dinner then watched four bill burr movies. It was great until saw the sun come up and I saw there’s nothing separating days but sleep. And though days have cycles, and seasons have cycles, time is not a cycle for us. Just a straight line, one that doesn’t continue forever, but that’s alright, because my routine helps me forget this. Anyhow, I’ve been thinking a lot of comfort lately and the second law of thermodynamics. Usually, I don’t, but right now, it’s nice to know that all natural processes are irreversible and things are always moving forward.”

With everything that's been going on lately, I've been looping faster and faster around an endless track of pessimism thinking about all of worlds and my own big problems. This and Joe Peras other videos have been an exit from that track. It's like he took my brain and said "hey buddy get out of that dark cloud, come down lower and try to remember when you were a kid. Try think like that and notice how wonderful these everyday things are. I'm going to feed apples to a happy horse and make you remember how you used to feel looking out a car window."

Joe Pera is exactly what David Foster Wallace was talking about when he said this in 1993:
The next real literary "rebels" in this country might well emerge as some weird bunch of anti-rebels, born oglers who dare somehow to back away from ironic watching, who have the childish gall actually to endorse and instantiate single-entendre principles. Who treat of plain old untrendy human troubles and emotions in U.S. life with reverence and conviction. Who eschew self-consciousness and hip fatigue. These anti-rebels would be outdated, of course, before they even started. Dead on the page. Too sincere. Clearly repressed. Backward, quaint, naive, anachronistic. Maybe that'll be the point. Maybe that's why they'll be the next real rebels. Real rebels, as far as I can see, risk disapproval. The old postmodern insurgents risked the gasp and squeal: shock, disgust, outrage, censorship, accusations of socialism, anarchism, nihilism. Today's risks are different. The new rebels might be artists willing to risk the yawn, the rolled eyes, the cool smile, the nudged ribs, the parody of gifted ironists, the "Oh how banal". To risk accusations of sentimentality, melodrama. Of overcredulity. Of softness. Of willingness to be suckered by a world of lurkers and starers who fear gaze and ridicule above imprisonment without law. Who knows.

I'm watching this after having stayed up all night because I am feeling too weirded out to sleep. I've been on my own in my apartment since March 20, today is May 28. I do go out to walk my dog, three or four times a day (so I am not entirely alone). I do talk to one of my friends on the phone a couple of times a week. I do chat briefly with folks who are doing my shopping and picking up my groceries. I am staying home most of the time because I had heart surgery 18 months ago and have some other health issues, and I am 66.
Unfortunately, unlike Joe, I haven't been following a routine, except for things related to my dog. Whatever time I get out of bed, the first thing I do after making a quick trip to the bathroom and throwing on some clothes, is feed my dog (who I call Puppy) and walk him. Then I make breakfast, drink coffee and -- bad habit here, turn on the computer and get lost in emails, TH-cam, Facebook and shopping for stuff like handheld vacuum cleaners and dog harnesses and books, all of which I thoroughly research for hours. The last thing I do each day is feed the dog and walk him, so there's a certain symmetry there.
I did do a three-day binge of decluttering last week and that actually felt good.
What I'd like to share, in terms of keeping sane in all this strangeness and uncertainty, is a couple of thoughts I return to when I feel like my mind is about to separate from my body and go off on its own, perhaps never to return.
One thing I remind myself of is, "I am still me. My best friend Mary is still Mary. My brother Eric is still Eric..." and so on. Everyone I love and who loves me are still who they are, so I remind myself by saying this kind of "mantra" to myself with all their names and I find that comforting.
The second thing I repeat to myself is something attributed to Julian of Norwich (I am not sure if she is officially a saint, but she was a much loved mystic who is often depicted holding her cat), and what she said was, "All is well, And all is well, And all manner of things shall be well." I am not entirely sure what she meant, but I interpret it to mean that no matter what happens, all manner of things shall be well because that's the nature of the universe (dark and light, joy and sadness, emptiness and fullness, and so on).
I just love watching Joe's videos. I guess I would say that for me, they are "grounding." Thank you, Joe!

Watching trees move outside a car window is probably one of the best things about life.
You don’t have to do anything or worry about life.

Unlike the days of my younger life and dating handsome men, and finding them painfully unready for a real relationship I found here a man I was comfortable with . He introduced me to wanting to explore Kafka and a summer boat ride in downtown Milwaukee.

I know this might've seemed like a very simple thing when you came up with it, but my 10 year old son has anxiety and struggles to settle on an evening, but he really loves setting the relaxing talks you to/back to sleep videos going. We have had many blissful and peaceful moments thanks to these videos. They are some how simultaneously profound and simplistic. As a child my youngest son's favourite place was a multi-level aquarium in Hull called the deep.
Anyway, as he was falling asleep to this video tonight and I said "there is a video for tree tv, I haven't watched it yet though..." and in a sleepy voice he responded "does it include an NBA game?" That was very sweet because in the UK we really don't cover the NBA. But he does like shooting hoops.
