So glad you got the home. I love that you are keeping it so original. Too many homes have already been lost. Love all your second hand finds. Thank you so much for sharing.
The new owners are clearly the perfect stewards for this mid-century home. I love how they collected carefully to give the home an updated look without it feeling forced. The husband did terrific work on those cabinets too! Lovely and calming home. ❤
This tour epitomizes the types of homes I love the most on Homeworthy: approachable, curated, lived in, vintage, affordable pieces, etc. I could live in that kitchen ❤
I’m right there with her. When the treasures of the home are based on a legacy of family and the period, it carries with it a richness that is incomparable. The owner’s appreciation of the home’s history and her personal journey in creating the environment becomes a sustainable quality. It’s like reading a line in poetry written two generations prior that still speaks to today.
You and your husband were destined to be the stewards of this fantastic quality mid-century home. I get sick to my stomach when developers or new owners gut these charming features. Obviously, the original owners had pride of ownership and took very good care of the home. Thank goodness the heirs (my peers) were smart enough to pass the house on to someone who would value it as is. I am sure the spirit of the house is delighted to go on with a new family who recognize its charm. Your husband did a fantastic job with the kitchen and wet bar area. It looks organic to the home. Your child is blessed to be able to grow up in this home. Thank you for the heartfelt tour.
I love your home and most of all your integrity. I am eternally grateful that the family chose you to continue the legacy of their happy home. Hand paint the wallpaper pattern onto the bathroom wall in a washable sheen paint. ❤❤❤
What a beautiful, cozy home😃. They have an incredible feeling for this home and how to style it well. I love all the woodwork that has been there and that was built by Carlottas husband. The furniture, the color, all the family pieces, the reading nook, I love this home!! And fun fact: Telgte is 1 hour away from where I live in Germany 😉 Would be lovely to meet her if she ever comes to Germany again😊All the best to Carlotta and her family 🍀 and greetings from Germany 😊
Your appreciation for the well maintained mid century assets in this home is wonderful. I love your sensibilities in approaching the intrinsic beauty and worth of the design of the house and thrifted and family items regardless of style or trend. The care and thoughtfulness you bring to making your house a true home is spot on.
Luv, luv, LUV thiS! She is very inspiring and relatable! Also, i applaud keeping the integrity of the original home and its retro feel! ~Well done!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽✨
It is so lovely to see a young woman LOVE the midcentury era and remain brave enough and confident enough to keep the lovely old details of this beautiful home. Too many would have ripped out those wonderful bathrooms! There are FB groups dedicated to the preservation of tile and bathrooms just like these. Girl after my own heart - I loved this episode!
I love this home! The wood, old tile bathrooms, stained glass windows with matching wallpaper & family photos are some of my faves. It’s just a warm & cozy space!
Thanks to Carlotta for the great narration about her family history, her approach to decorating, her budgetary realism, and how she retained so many features from the previous owners. And the custom cabinet fronts-meets-IKEA approach to the kitchen is a great idea. Alles Gute und todo lo mejor for this cool owner and her family in their serendipitous sunken living room house!
We live in a 1957 rancher with the same beautiful wood in the living room. There is just something about the practicality of a mid-century rancher that lends itself beautifully to comfortable, casual living.
Lovely home, love the original bathrooms and I too love the old tiles. And those curtains in your living room were great. Very interesting your history of your grandmother and nice you have some family pieces in your home. All great.
ABSOLUTELY Love the home; Love the way they have their decor. We live in a 1964 Ranch in a Culdesac in Pittsburgh PA. Love the homes where we live. THANKS for preserving that home CARLOTTA. Way to go Homeworthy. STTB; SHARED TO THE BURGH!
Loved your house! Excellently curated. We had a mid century also and it went well with our eclectic furnishings. My mom commented that most homes from that time were similarly decorated. People couldn't afford all the furnishings of the same period unless they had money and didn't have connections to anything family. Great job!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful curated home. Believe it or not a step down living room has always been on my wish list, too. My grandparents had one and it always felt like home.
Here's an idea for you. The guest bath with the flower wallpaper that matches the stained glass window- you can have that wallpaper remade. Since you are a graphic artist you may know that the paper can be copied exactly. I saw a homeworthy show where she has fabric copied to architect paper to wrap gifts. That gave me an idea.
The track lights in kitchen makes it look more 80’s instead of kid- century in my humble opinion. Lovely hostess. House has a nostalgic feeling to me . 😊
I didn’t think I would like this style home with so much wood but I love it! I could live there. Might I suggest since you like a dark office space that you think about painting the “5th” wall, the ceiling, the same gorgeous blue as the walls? Thank you for sharing your home❣
I am thrilled to hear that the contractor who wanted to rip everything down to its studs, lost his chance to purchase this property. Just because the contractor will pay more in financial terms, doesn’t make it the right choice. This house was custom built and should remain close to what it was for the original family members who grew up in their sentimental home. I am really happy to listen about the fact that they those adult children were able to lay out a plan to get the best possible caretaker of this house. Even though they initially took the contractor’s offer and handwritten letter over this lady’s letter and offer, however, they had a hard look into the future of their home and decided that the extra money provided by the contractor was not the best choice for them after all!!! I’m genuinely happy to see young people choosing to live in an older home that has such unique features, and also being able to preserve the home without knocking down all walls and all appliances tore out. I mean they will be renovating this home for practical and functional purposes of course, and make sure the house is safe with updated electrical wiring, hvac, internet, etc.
We saved the same Don Quixote print from someone casting it off. It landed in my Mom's house. I can't wait to tell her it's a Picaso print. She likes Picaso.
If you aren’t putting in a large piece of art work, I would consider replacing the faded paneling in the dining nook. Perhaps some tongue and groove hardwood.
@ Boy do I know that. I designed and built my own Tuscan home in SoCal. It’s been 6 years since I moved in and I would consider it “done” about now. Yes, I am still doing projects, but…………
Love letter from the contractor. “I’m gonna get a foreign crew and we’re going to shoot the inside in the cheapest flat white that you’ve ever seen. Then, I’m gonna sell it and get that big beautiful money.”
A livable place can actually relax on the couch without having to to worry about sitting in a upright position because you can’t touch anything her not inviting you over next time 🤣🤎🤣

I haven’t seen beautiful mid century home for a while. This one is definitely one of the most beautiful!
It's just perfect. You have excellent taste. I, too, would not have changed anything. Everyone you have added fits perfectly and harmoniously❤

Love this! ❤ Love that you have so many pieces from your Grandparents 🥰
Your home is lovely!
Absolutely LOVE the design choices in this home!
Charming, meaningful home. Love that they preserved and enhanced instead of ripping things out and homogenizing it.

What a great house. Enjoyed your tour combining your family history with the house's history. Very cool that you have the blueprints.

A beautifully genuine host and home. Love her appreciation of her home's history and her family's history.💯💟
Adorable home owners. Love that they are so into this home and keeping its integrity intact as much as possible.
You and your husband have created a lovely home, it is wonderful how you have woven your family history throughout!

I love that style home. The bark cloth curtains are fabulous! Had some in my home in 1960's.
Beautiful home, with the perfect owners, and well presented by a charming woman.

Loved that you featured a beautiful home in Colorado!
love the style of this house!! seems so cozy for when the inevitable colorado snow comes ❄️🩵
Beautiful home ! I love everything about this home especially the kitchen. The kitchen is so practical without being a huge space . Just stunning !
Thank you for sharing your beautiful curated home. Believe it or not a step down living room has always been on my wish list, too. My grandparents had one and it always felt like home.
The decor looks period appropriate!
I absolutely love your home, and enjoyed your presentation.
Love you kept it original mid-century modern! Very cool!

Beautiful home! And anybody who listens to Marty Robbins is first class in my book!
Love the coffee room! It looks original to the house.

I love that diningroom table 😍
Very sweet lady, and very smart to use thrifted items...which add so much to the home.

This is one of my favorites! I love the eclectic feel.😊
Lovely home.
This is exactly how I remember Denver, brown & 70s homes everywhere 😂
The stainless-steel stove brings out the kitchen.
I absolutely love this ❣️
Perfection!
Gorgeous!

Just perfect, so beautiful. Is possible to share the colour of the bedroom?
the paint color is called rosewood! from benjamin moore :)
@ thank you ever so much :)
🪵Too much wood element! Need to find a balance...But she is right about this: ,,Home Takes Time!,,👌
What? Not another millionaire?
I don’t like galley kitchens in MCM, but yours is an open one. Most of them should be called alleys, not galleys.
Love letter from the contractor. “I’m gonna get a foreign crew and we’re going to shoot the inside in the cheapest flat white that you’ve ever seen. Then, I’m gonna sell it and get that big beautiful money.”
paint some of the wood!!!!
No, please don’t)
