Not gonna lie, I watched this video on 1.75x speed. Still grasped all of the new features. New to the channel, subscribed, and liked the video. Awesome stuff, Jeff!
perfect vid. I was following along the entire time. I was having a difficult time figuring out how to view photos in Standby mode but I got it. keep the vids coming!
Thank you for the awesome walkthrough. Personally, I think it's a privacy issue when your phone rings, and BAM, whoever is calling you is as big as your phone. I don't want that. Unfortunately, there is no way to turn it on or off globally. I have to go into each contact and change it. UGH!! There should be a global way to do this. If you know something I don't know... please share!! :-).
You don’t need to use a MagSafe stand in order to use standby. You can use a lightning/usb c cable and place the phone on any stand as long as the phone is mostly horizontal.
Why won’t standby kick in in the car?? Anyone else notice this yet? I’ll put mine on the charger then on its side but it never enters standby for some reason.
The crossfade only works when you have apple music? Or does it also work if you only have mp3 music added ? Cause I dont see this crossfade option in music settings.
So neither my 13 ProMax nor 14 ProMax will enter ‘Standby’ mode. Phones being charged with Lightning cable. Both phones updated to 17.0.2. Does the phone need to be on a wireless charger ? Does auto-rotate setting matter? Edit: found ‘rotate lock’ in Control Center, but it does not work.. phones will NOT rotate to horizontal.
I have installed iOS17 and it seems Apple has removed the function of Hey Siri reset my iPhone which worked on iOS16 which is a step backwards by Apple.
For anyone else in the same boat I found a fix. If you go to Siri settings and turn off ‘listen for’ then manually reboot iPhone and then switch this back on afterwards you will be prompted to do a Siri learning thing which involves 5 phrases and then hopefully restarting with Siri should work again but I also continued to have this problem after completing those steps with my iPhone 13 Pro so I then set language to Arabic and then back to English and restarted the phone manually and then this seems to have fixed the problem. Dumb of Apple to break this simple feature.
37:01 Downloaded podcast on users iPhone can’t be transferred to nearby iPad by Airdrop/SharePlay or WiFi messages 😢. User or another device have to download the podcast again. Serious waste of bandwidth which is a waste of energy resources in heating planet🌍🔥. Multiplied by the user-base, that’s a lot of not green usages and pollution. Let user transfer downloaded files with nearby Airdrop, BitTorrent multi peer sharing on WiFi and Bluetooth.
So Apples theft of your private data continues and gets worse today with the new iPhones. In 2007 when the iPhone was released you could protect all of your data by plugging your new iPhone in to your Apple computer via a wire and sync all your data without having to give any of your data to anyone. It was great. Finally, we had a compatible Apple phone that could talk with the computers in the same language. We could enter all our data on the desktop/laptop and just sync it over to the iPhone without having to type it in on a small phone keyboard. But when Tim Cook took over Apple, he started to turn off wire syncing, app by app. He started with contacts. All of a sudden, we could not sync our contact via iTunes with our iPhones. Even the operators were saying that they didn't know that this had happened. They were either told by Apple to lie, or they were not briefed by Apple that this was going to begin to happen. There was simply no way to sync your contacts other than sending them to iCloud and back down to your Apple computer. Why? Why was Apple doing this? At first, they were pushing people to iCloud to force data usage and charges associated with buying storage on iCloud servers... but then the Sacremento shooting occurred and Tim Cook, Apple and the FBI hit front page news. Arguing over Tim Cook not giving the FBI the data from the recovered iPhone from the shooting site in California... but Tim Cook wasn't protecting the users data... he really couldn't get in to the iPhone! At that time, it was perfect and working just as it should. Protecting a users data from a corrupt FBI that's gotten worse and worse every time a Democrat takes the White House. So Tim Cook wanted to stay out of the news and protect.... NOT USER DATA... NOT YOUR PRIVATE DATA.... BUT EXPOSURE TO BAD PUBLICITY AND ... RISKING BOTTOM LINE REVENUE OUT OF PUBLIC FEAR OF STOLEN DATA. So Cook and Apple began a campaign of stealing your data.. how did they do that... every time they sent out a new iOS update, which is almost every few months now, they turned on all your iCloud sliders. Most people are programming illiterates and had no idea. All you have to do now is go to Settings; select your name banner at the top; go down to the second group and select "iCloud"; go down a few groups and select "show all"; and there you have it... "on"s and green sliders are all on. You had no idea did you. So Apple has been stealing all your contacts, all your photos and META data from the photos and all of your other data from the iPhone. Now you can't get your private data off of the Apple iCloud servers.. once they have it, it's there permanently! And Apple is so nefarious and most people are so clueless that today, Apple has taken it a step further.... now, when you are in iTunes and you select "backup to this computer" and then "sync", you will notice Apple swaps your selection to the top option, which is "backup to iCloud"... and you CAN'T TURN THIS OFF. Sync begins; all options are greyed out; and Apple steals your backup now. Finally, the Sacremento shooter's iPhone had a code that could have opened the iPhone, right..... well, you'll notice that when you setup your new iPhone or you update your iOS, what is the first thing the iPhone asks you for..... you guessed it.... your iCloud sign in and YOUR IPHONE PASS CODE!!!! You can't make this S up! Why is Apple asking for your iCloud password and your iPhone access code, when they are already stored in Apple Keychain???? BECUASE IF YOU WILLINGLY GIVE THEM THAT INFORMATION, THEN APPLE CAN GIVE IT TO THE FBI WHEN THEY SHOW UP WITH A FISA WARRANT FOR YOUR DATA. Are you getting this yet? Apple is stealing all it's users personal data and storing it on their servers. Apple is taking your iCloud password and iPhone access code and giving those to the FBI with FISA warrants. And after a few years of "showing up to Apple to get user data", do you really think Apple and the FBI are going to continue face to face data exchanges at the Apple complex in California? Of course not. The FBI is in Washington DC and Apple is in CA. The FBI has been going to the Apple Complex and asking for user data for long enough now that the conversation has certainly already happened where the FBI has asked something like, "hey can we just transmit this electronically to DC? Do we have to continue to show up there? It's not good for either of us when we show up in our black SUVs becuase people are noticing us going there all the time. Lets just transmit electronically to DC". Then certainly the FBI is asking for a back door "key" so they can just access Apples iCloud servers when they get those FISA warrants so they don't have to "inconvenience" Apple with these requests. This is the way freedoms vanish. First its just a few features can't be used unless you use iCloud; then Apple just steals everyones data via iOS updates; then Apple steals iPhone backups via the sync button which swaps your choice from local backup to iCloud backup; then Apple steals your iCloud password and iPhone access code. Apple is certainly just giving everyones personal data to the FBI off of their servers each and every day. Tim Cook did this. Steve Jobs was well gone when this happened. If you own an iPhone, you are just giving your personal data to Apple and the FBI.

Love to see Jeff‘s video
I don’t know the back story on Jeff’s pause on 9to5, but am I so happy to have him here again. 9to5 is better for it IMO.
Ha, his reviews are the reason I subscribed to this channel once upon a time.

So should I delete Widgetsmith and just use Apple’s software for widgets?
My standby is somehow permanently red in colour? Even though i have changed the colour- it remains red
Are you in a dark location? Disable night mode in standby settings.
Great video super informative. Jeff, what case you using in the video?

iOS 17 is a POS!! The “synced content” is taking up unnecessary space. DONT UPDATE!
