Did PTE last week and scored 90 overall at first attempt, with a breakdown of 90 88 90 and 90. Delighted! Preparation was entirely based on Jay's excellent TH-cam videos and the E2 Language online resources. Your tried and tested methods really helped me structure my exam answers. I'm not normally one to comment but I'm making an exception - thank you Jay and the rest of the E2 Language team!
Hi Jay, thanks for all your videos. It really helped me clear my PTE exam. I got 77 and 78 marks respectively in reading and writing sections in my first attempt ,but then I studied some more for 3 more weeks and I don't know how but I scored a friggin 90 in all 4 sections😀🤗. Thanks E2language. Really appreciate your work.
i feel like i got about 90% overall for the your test questions. I have been watching your videos for hours over the last few days and i am finding them extremely useful. I am "almost" excited to do my next practice test tomorrow and see how much my score improves after watching these videos and doing sample questions.
hey i want to ask u if the repeat sentence and write from dictation sentence are hard or it is short and easy in the real exam because all i found on the youtube most of them are hard
Thanks Jay! you are such a blessing. A really cool trick is to scribble the initials of each word in your scratchpad and then start typing it. I just tried it and it is working wonders for me.
Jay you are the bomb mate, I really appreciate the knowledge you share. Excited about my PTE, all the best to everyone who is getting ready for it. Thanks again to Jay and all the E2 language team!
Hi Jay, If in write from dictation, we will come-up with phrase such as "10000 employees". Is it okay to write is "10000 employees" or we should write "ten thousand employees"
I studied PTE and got 78 in 2018. I'm studying again now, and from my experience, the marking regarding sequencing used to be reversed for RS and WFD. WFD used to be sequence-based while RS was percentage-based. Did it change after all these years? So for the example sentence, if you miss out 1 word and do not have any word taking its place, the following words of your sentence are wrong because the bot marks your sentence in a word-to-word sequence.
Jay, I have a question. Should we put a period (full-stop) at the end of the sentence or capitalize the names of countries, for example? I mean if is punctuation really important in this task?

Hey Jay, I will be taking the PTE exam this coming Friday and have been watching all your videos to ensure that I am equipped with all guides and tips. Based on your 1st "Write from Dictation" video, you have highlighted that it is crucial to add punctuation, and each sentence will only consists of punctuation such as Capital letters and full-stops. However, while listening to the sentence at 30:10 of your 1st "Write from Dictation" video, there seems to be a need to add a comma. "Before you move to Sydney, you may need to arrange temporary accommodation." - 30:10 Any idea if marks will be deducted should I add a comma between "Sydney" and "you"? Greatly appreciated!

People applying for Australian permanent residency or working visas have described how they have met the government’s required English language standards not by improving their language proficiency but by learning to outsmart the computer. It follows the story of an Irish veterinarian with degrees in history and politics, Louise Kennedy, who failed the oral fluency section of the English test delivered by Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic, one of five test providers used by Australia’s immigration department. Unlike other test providers, Pearson uses voice recognition technology to test speaking ability, and the audio recordings are then scored by a computer. Despite English being her native language, Kennedy failed the test with a score of 74. The immigration department requires a score of at least 79 out of a possible 90. Others have shared similar experiences. Alice Xu, a childcare worker from China who obtained a master of education in Australia and who speaks fluent English, took the PTE test last year in order to apply for permanent residency. She was shocked when she failed. I didn’t improve my English, I just changed the way I took the test Alice Xu “I got a score of 41, so low that I felt so discouraged about trying again,” she told Guardian Australia. She said she was frustrated as she could already read, write and speak English fluently, had successfully completed university, and was unsure how to improve. One year later she decided to try again, this time enlisting the help of a tutor who mentored her for two weeks. She said this helped her to pass the test with a perfect score of 90. “I didn’t improve my English, I just changed the way I took the test,” the 34-year-old said. “I did it by learning how the computer worked, I don’t think my English skills or ability improved in any way. This exam is really about your test-taking skills, it’s not about your speaking or language ability.” Computer says no: Irish vet fails oral English test needed to stay in Australia Read more Clive Liebmann is an English-language tutor with seven years’ experience helping students to prepare for English language tests, including the PTE. He tutored Xu, and described her English as “excellent” even before he began tutoring her. He said many students with strong English came to him complaining they had failed the PTE. “In my opinion it’s not so much about the computer marking them low because of an accent,” he said. “I think getting the required score is about giving the computer things to make it happy. If people speak in a natural voice they are less likely to do well. Advertisement “So I encourage students to exaggerate tonation in an over-the-top way and that means less making sense with grammar and vocabulary and instead focusing more on what computers are good at, which is measuring musical elements like pitch, volume and speed. “I’m a real grammar nerd, but I also have a duty to my students to help them achieve as high a score as possible. In preparing people for PTE I’ve had to focus less on teaching English and more on exaggeration of sounds.” He said while he believes voice-recognition technology has potential, it was not yet at a level that made it suitable for testing English proficiency. On an English-language blog, a Canadian described how they “excitedly opened my PTE result document ... expecting to feel self-satisfied and proud”. “I FAILED the PTE speaking section by a lot; 43 out of 90, to be exact,” they wrote. “Just to reiterate: I failed a speaking test in my first language. How did this happen?” Former test-takers also shared their experiences on a website containing study material for the PTE. The website includes advice from someone from India who passed the test despite not understanding some of the test information.
