I listened to this on repeat during an acid trip and it felt like I was being transported through space really fast
Anyone in 2024?
As a 63 year old, the "time keeps on slipping, slipping.." is a reminder to me to enjoy today.
Being a black woman, I went to a Catholic school in the 70's and had white friends who turned me on to this classic music.... I loved it. Still do!!!
Whoever the drummer was for this song, I hope he earned a billion dollars, because he laid down a firm foundation for this one.
I tripped listening to this lots of times back in the 70s great times I miss them sometimes it sucks getting old
It has a futuristic vibe, even today. And I highly prefer this longer album version. The edited radio version cuts off too much, especially at the end.
This played like forever on the radio forever in the 70’s, but I only heard it either midway, or the dj would always start taking over the ending. I finally, finally heard it in its entirety on a road trip cross the USA in Kansas City MO. Had to pull over in a field off the highway and just sit there, listening eyes wide open on a beautiful early summer day. Never forgotten that day.
You don't have to be on acid to Love this song!
I like how this song can be described by "be high and be a good person."
I was born in 1962. Grew up in the 60s & 70s. Everytime I hear Steve Miller, I'm 14 years old again , sitting with my friends in the VW van. We had painted it ourselves. We'd have the side cargo door open, passing a few joints around, listening to Steve Miller on our jam box , digging the sunshine and watching the wind flow through the palm trees. It was a groovy time.
I’m a 27 year old female Steve Miller Band lover… my dad literally used to “fly me like an eagle” around the house singing this song to me. I loved it. I saw them recently in Florida and it was the best concert ever. Luckily going to see them again next month!!! They still sound incredible.
For those wondering, the musicians are lead vocalist-guitarist-synthesist-sitarist Steve Miller, bassist Lonnie Turner, drummer-percussionist Gary Mallaber, and organist Joachim Young.
I was born in 73 ' . My mother used to play this for me when I was up set . If she didn't have her cassette. She would hold me and sing it to me .
Amazing and TIMELESS music 🎵!!!!!!! Born in 72 and this music never gets old!!!! Fresh, relevant and exciting today as it was in the 70’s!!!
This song has a much deeper meaning today than I even understood in the 70's!
One of the most chill songs of the era! Still is a chill ass song in 2024.
Just saw him play Saturday. Really blew me away, been a lifelong fan but first time that I got to see him play live. Truly amazing.
So this is the original. Nice.
Amazing song. So melodious and just incredibly relaxing. It makes me feel like I'm in space just floating and watching the various mesmerizing space colors.
