Search is search. Siri something else, and she has access to the content and capabilities of apps - not merely launching them. Of course, a lot more capabilities will get added as developers expose more of their apps’ capabilities via App Intents. One example I found the other day is asking Siri “What’s going on?” - if her models are up to date, she should respond by telling you the weather, and then what’s coming up on your calendar, and any relevant reminders - and then the news. Now, the news comes up as a voice report from one of several news sources (she’ll default to one, and mention to you that you can switch to another). Now, the question is, where is that content coming from? The answer isn’t obvious, because this is an example of Siri using the new App Intents based framework to deeply control a functionality of an App on your device - *without opening the app!* In this case, the content is coming from the Podcasts app - I didn’t know that until I started opening apps that could have had the content, and sure enough, Podcasts was playing.
What about Control Center layout in the landscape mode? Did they fix it? Because now they simple brake the portrait layout and don't allow to fix it. 🤔

They really need to implement the type to Siri function a lot better if they plan on people to use it. The bar is so thin at the bottom of the phone that half the time I’m just clicking on whatever is at the bottom of the screen that I’m on before it ever triggers the Siri search prompt to show up. Just testing it while watching this video I selected about 3 different TH-cam videos
I use Type to Siri dozens of times a day since it was first introduced in the 18.1 betas, mainly because I have 18.1 beta on my M4 iPad Pro, and it’s quite easy to do a 🌐+S to open type to Siri on my magic keyboard.

iPhone 2G definitely did not have this photo/video slider, not because of the iPhone OS limitation, but due to the fact it was not capable of recording videos in the first place 😂
Control center is not really good as on ios 18.1 beta 3 . They change the wifi mobile data, bluetooth structure which is not really looks good as well and on top of it the hearing icon. Come automatically even if you don’t want have it on your control center . 😢
So I downloaded 18.1 beta 4 but I don’t have the new Siri or any AI features anymore. Very odd, it seems like regular 18. I went back into Settings and it definitely says 18.1. In some ways I prefer this because 18.1 beta 3 was super buggy with battery drain and making my phone hot.
Im trying to understand if the flatout exclusion of features for Europe is really due to regulations or is done out of spite and pure pettiness by Apple.. Their phones are already much more expensive in Europe so this is just an extra slap in the face for their European consumers.
It’s due to the EU’s regulations that unfairly target Apple in favor of European competitors - at the expense of consumers. If the EU would negotiate an agreement with them, and stick by it, the problems could be resolved quickly, but as things stand, the EU likes having vague regulations that they can change whenever a competitor lobbies.
Apple redesign the photos app and people went absolutely crazy and is even downgrading just for that, imagine if they redo the whole system, it would be a chaos.
People are already used to how iOS looks, if Apple were to redesign it not only would people have to re learn what is what but it would also cause backlash like how iOS 7 did when that came out
iOS 18.1 beta 4 caused significant battery drain issues. As a result, my 15 Pro Max is currently at 97% battery capacity, even though it was at 99% just before the update.

I was editing my control center and switched to landscape to see. It still looks random while in landscape.

The iMessage options are the least interesting and useless for me. But maybe that’s just me.
