    Himachal and Uttarakhand should follow the footsteps of Sikkim where everything is only run by local people, who understand and respect their own place and environment....

      With all due respect, Uttarakhand people are very lazy and very uneducated about these things, if u go to uttarakhand u find the situation is even worse.

      Lol & then what happens the whole economy collapses
      There's a reason why himanchal earns huge loads of money through tourism but Sikkim doesn't ....both despite having the same sort of scenicaly wonderful ecosystem

    • @Scunrahul
      @Scunrahul 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@Machaivelli Well,Himachal is 9-10 times bigger than Sikkim both in terms of area as well as population. So no point in comparing there economy. Also, Himachal & Uttarakhand are located close to the Delhi NCR region which brings a whole lot of tourism but also the problems associated with it. And Sikkim is doing really well for itself, there HDI is close to Himachal's & the state is prosperous in all respects. And all this while still maintaining the sanctity of their surroundings.

      @@learningunlearningrelearni8604 how much Uttarakhand have you travelled man? With all due respect, your comment shows your roots and background. Uttarakhand conducts one of the largest yatra season of the world with 4 dham, Hemkund sahib, and other shrines. I am sure you do not contribute even a day of labour to these events. People from this state toil day and night to make it successful. Learn to be respectful or at least have the courage to comment through your real id. Until then you and your comments will remain fake like your id.

      @@learningunlearningrelearni8604 You are such a dumb fuck. Do you even know why camping is not allowed in Alpine meadows of Uttarakhand like bedini , Ali bugyals etc?, and who took the initiative to have them banned? It was villagers, who filled a case against camping in those meadows and have it banned from high court. Roopkund is one of the most popular trek in India, and now it's banned !! Even camping is not allowed around Tapovan as well.
      So, get your "facts" clear before making a fool out of yourself.

    On the trek to Kheer Ganga... I have seen written on a rock that "Technology owes ecology an apology" , and this one line reverbates into my mind every time i see trash on mountains. People coming from Delhi or Chandigarh area must understand that your trash is causing damage to not just human life but to natual habitat of many living beings. It's a sad situation and cheers to your team for understanding and keeping people aware.

There was this video I saw recently on TH-cam about Kheerganga trek and the guy said we just crossed Rudranag cafe and I was so pissed and corrected him, it's not a cafe it's a temple (a holy place).

  • @chef_rachit
    @chef_rachit 6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    Fantastic job Rohan and Barty,this issue has been on mind for a long time.I started trekking in general way back in school through NCC and was hooked on to it.Did a few of the common treks in and around Manali and Uttrakhand.I was shocked when the same places which i had visited 6 years back are now filled with campsites,garbage and inexperienced operators and hiking companies.I am going to share it as much as I can to get this message out.There are a bunch of people I know who resound with Anurags ideology to the last word.I am pretty sure if a stop is not put to commercial trekking and bulk trekking,very soon all these places will out of bound and remain in photographs for the future generations.

    • @RonnieandBarty

      Well I hope that the future isn't so grim that all we are left with is photographs of what once was... I think we as individuals need to do our parts by educating and informing people who are keen to explore the mountains about the right way to go about doing things...

    Shukriya Anurag... For the courage you've shown to speak for the protection and conservation of valley.. and I'm sure this courage finds its source in your honesty...
    Giant corporate houses have eliminated almost all cottage industries...
    Adventure tourism should be left on to the people that belong to that place ..
    Along with proper training certifications, there should be a cap on the amount of investment that can be made by an individual for running such business to keep the blood sucking corporations out of this.
    Also one cannot expect a hotel like facility on a trek for god's sake!!!!
    And for those who do, they belong at the foot of Himalayas and not on its heart and crown...
    It's heaven there!!!!
    Not meant for all. Period.

    He delivery strong messages to everyone. Some of the highlighted points was observed during my recent trekking at The Great Lakes Kashmir. Sad, if this consistently happened, a strict regulation need to be carried out by the Parks management as well as relevant authorities. The tourist/travel operator also need to emphasize on training, regulation, educate, that can lead to conserving the environment.

    So true man. One of the Biggest ripp offs : a company called " adventure nation". I did hampta pass and chadar through them and man the quality was bad. Esp. in case of Hampta pass, 4 out 8 retired the second day. We were left in the hands of one amateur guide who knew nothing and had no equipment. It was pathetic. I had got slight AMS on day 2 but the guide couldn't even recognise that and get on to climb the summit next day....just happy I made it back alive. Would definitely try Anurag's services next.

    I have been trekking for over 40 yrs now and came to Manali for the first time in late 70s. The main Manali market hardly had a few shops with wooden doors at that time and we found it difficult to even find food after 6 pm. I also did my MC from DMAS long back and spent a long time at Bakarthatch.
    I totally agree with each and every word of yours. I write a lot about such things in various places, but the wrong information provided by some immature individuals is making life difficult for the genuine people who love and care for Nature.
    It is companies like India Hikes and YHAI who have ruined the mountains completely. Sadly, IH is a company run by a pseudo adventure person who has failed to understand the sanctity of the mountains and Mother Nature.
    It is time to call a Spade a Spade now. Or it will be too late.
