    Man im dreaming too. Put about 100 hours into it this year (played since release). The game keeps bringing me back. Holds up well graphically in 2024 and when you do link up with a group its just as good as it was back in the day. Almost more special in 2024. What I wouldn't give for a constant busy chat though when in the city....buy sell buy sell buy sell. Loved the market most in GW1 compared to any other open market in any other game.

    GW1 is still the best game I ever played after 4 or 5 years offline. I miss it lmao and my youtube algorithm knows it.

    I've been playing since shortly after launch. Pretty casually but I still play every week or so when I have time. Never went for GWAMM. Going for it now. Game still rocks. My wife and I have been playing for just about 20 years by now and it's still fun. I actually still recommend it as to this day there's nothing really like it. It's old but good

    • @wayfaringnomad

      Absolutely, guild wars 1 is a timeless game. They've made it future proof essentially, I always recommend it when it's appropriate.

    Gosh, I miss GW, If it was more active I would play it again. I like playing with others. GW2 is nothing like GW1 , Although it took me a while to get in GW2, I was mad when it first came out because they took what made GW1 great, 2 classes, mass abilities to change around, RAY OF JUDGEMENT!!! ugh that spell was everything for the monk! I made all my heroes and myself a monk, and spam that spell lol

    I'm currently playing prophecies for the first time and i'm dealing with some white mantle and i actually fell in love with the game even though it's ancient. What would you say is your favourite profession?

    • @wayfaringnomad
      @wayfaringnomad  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It's a toss up between warrior and assassin. Warrior gets alot of awesome looking armor (I didn't even get into the cosmetics of the game and how huge fashion is), and then assassin can just deal out so much melee aoe with so many defensive buffs.. it's hard to pick one.

    • @neoachilleos6891

      @@wayfaringnomad I went for warrior for the armor too :P veteran players say i should switch my second profession from monk to Dervish when i reach the dlc. So far i'm stunned by how good the game is and the cinematics in main missions are a chef's kiss. I hope your video pushes players to try it out because it's a must

  • @tarheel7406
    @tarheel7406 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Regarding how melee gets overly nerfed, the rubberbanding isn't so much of a problem as is the heavy melee counters. There should be better counters to blind, blocking and miss in Tactics, perhaps a different stance for each counter with weakness as the drawback. Given the current options, I'm always running Asuran Scan and Warrior's Endurance to provide the needed energy.

    • @wayfaringnomad
      @wayfaringnomad  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      100% I forgot about all the blinds.

    • @tarheel7406
      @tarheel7406 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@wayfaringnomad Blind may be of least concern since one can put plenty of condition relief on the backline and Antidote Signet is easy enough to slot (at the cost of going Ranger as a secondary). Miss seems less common. It's really the blocking. A Ranger has a number of cheap (with Expertise) unconditional bow attacks that can't be blocked with no material penalty (if any): Arcing Shot, Called Shot, Crossfire, Precision Shot. The Warrior's options are moderate to high adrenaline and/or are conditional. A Ranger can use Seeking Arrows for ~50% uptime every 20s at ~10e, but Warrior's Cunning also costs 10e for 10s with a 60s recharge.
      There should be some Warrior derivatives.
      A 2s attack with +damage that can't be blocked (Arcing Shot, Precision Shot)
      A 2a no +damage melee attack that can't be blocked (Called Shot)
      An attack that can't be blocked if adjacent to an ally (Crossfire)
      As for miss, perhaps an attack with a 50% chance to hit another adjacent foe if the target is missed.
      A Wild Stance that makes attacks unblockable but ends when one fails to hit.
      Does Guided Weapon need to be 15e? Allow Ghostly Weapon to be used on self and last 1...3 next attacks?
      I do have a hero build with all unblockable attack skills which uses Flourish (which should be 1e given its purpose).
      (Sorry for the lengthy rant.)

      Y'know what really disappointed me about Gw2? I read all 3 of the books and in each one they talk about the Ascalon conflict yet when Gw2 comes around they push it aside and still haven't given it a satisfying conclusion or continuation. It's like it was going to be a big part of the game and slowly got pushed to the side for.. I dunno... friendship? Gw2 lost a lot of grit from Gw1.

  • @davidfonseca5262

    its really sad to see that arena net went from this master piece to GW2 (its an ok game but...). The combination of a RPG with MTG (several skills but you could only have 8 slots not limited to weapon type etc) it was almost perfect, the skill captures, the build variety (55 monks and 600 hp for example), FOW and UW, tactical GvG, HoH, Guild halls, GWTV etc... it was groundbreaking and still kinda is, i wished GW2 to be that but modernized like new graphics, JUMP, new classes, more pve content and races (well Charr mostly).
    TBF i just played GW2 at launch and just gave up, no trinity for pve and it was horrid without it, no freedom to choose skills, pvp was meh, lack of competitive pvp.
    Loved the idea of changing worlds, world bosses and more dungeons but all went to dirt the way the made it.
