This game was the best thing to happen for our black ferns, for them this loss was crushing they are A TEAM OF CHAMPIONS when you fall get back up, and now in almost four years (3 and a bit) our girls are undefeated "NZ Halberg award TEAM OF THE YEAR 2019" they truly set the standard in sevens rugby across both genders. Australia was the lofty mountain on this occasion after this game our girls set in stone our countries flag 🇳🇿 at the highest peak of that mountain and now we wait for the 2020 Olympics bring on the best in the world 👍and go get em our mighty Black Fern 7's!
+Adam Smith I agree. Considering that Brazil treats soccer like a religion, this is like hosting a Formula One race in a NASCAR crazy place like Charlotte. Nobody would show up for the race!
The rugby community in Brazil is growing more and more, with new teams and championships coming up every year. There are kids, teen and adults trainning teams and special events every month in the main cities for anyone who might be interested in participating to learn a little bit more about the sport. I think the main problem was the price of the tickets together with poor marketing from the government cause it might be a growing sport but we still have a long way to go before a considerate number of people actually start paying high prices for this sport. So far teams and players are working to get recognition and to bring it closer to your "everyday-tv-news-sport". Unfortunatly the government here sees sports mainly as recreation with a few exceptions such as gymnastics, volleyball and maybe soccer (but the last one is more about the money involved in it). We have great athletes in so many fields but unfortunatly we keep exporting them cause they get very few chances of building a future out of sport here.
por que não é divulgado na mídia? Será que o Brasil só pode ser do futebol?. Poxa eu moro perto de Barueri, poderia ter ido ao jogo, mas não fiquei sabendo de nada.
They need to change the rules to make it free flowing and a spectator friendly sport. The referee was constantly stopping the play, constantly blowing the whistle. Absolutely ridiculous.....!!!!
Annapurna Bothate Unfortunately, Olympic footage is near impossible to upload to TH-cam due to strict copyright laws. SkySport, BBC and NBCSports broadcasted the games there may be a possibility to watch it through those websites
Definitely. The comparison between men's rugby and men's American football is more blurred, but rugby women would snap "lingerie football" players in half, because "lingerie football" is girlie football where really the only purpose of the "game" is to ogle the rail thin models who are pretending to be athletes.
There used to be more serious women's football and it might still be around. However, rather few of those women would have the speed and, especially, the endurance to play Rugby.
The better team won, even if they ran out of gas towards the end. It's sad that there seemed to be almost no one in the stands. It looks like it's played differently than the men's game, even though the rules are apparently the same. It's definitely less brutal!
FAST FORWARD TO OLYMPICS 2016 RESULT: AUSTRALIA 24-17. What a crying shame, Portia from NZ wins the award for the biggest sook! Nothing wrong with a silver medal and the kiwis were outclassed.Honestly all the tears and there are children in hospitals with cancer that are braver. And a post match match haka...really, now a haka for losing? Good Grief, congrats to the Aussie girls on their GOLD.
Shadow Man I agree Aussie women were sharp in the Olympics, but the post match haka was performed to their family and supporters. Not for egotistical reasons, you'll see it a lot in NZ, it's a way of connecting through their culture. Whether you choose to respect that is your choice 👍🏽
I don't mean to be a dick but kick out on the full immediately followed by a dropped ball on advantage right at the beginning of an gold silver game? need more skill coaches or maybe it was just nerves
Im a new Zealander. Australia played better and deserved the win. Congratulations to both teams for earning their medals.

I hope they next host it in a country which actually has a public interest in the game.
