I'm sorry but as a fellow Nordic person, hearing Heikala describe where she's from using cities I know where they but would never expect any foreigners to have heard of is so endearing.
It was a standard in all of my design classes to do at least 15 thumbnails before starting our assignments. It makes total sense that a pro like Heikala does it because I find that the best compositions/layouts come out that way.
I love the fact that references are so easily available, growing up in the early 80s reference was hard to come by without a trip to the library....love how this convo just flows
I love how half of the video is just you guys showering each other with compliments :)) amazing video, I've admired both of you for years so this crossover is incredible!!
This crossover is so niche 😭 i´m sitting here drawing along with u guys in my room like "THEY MADE THIS. FOR. ME." i'll keep this video close to my heart unu
This was so much fun to watch. I was listening to it while drawing and it felt like I had art friends for a while! I feel like I also learned a lot listening to your discussions. Thanks for an awesome video! 😊
screaming over this video!! I've been following heikala since I was 13 and discovered your channel/art as an adult. so it's SO cool to see one of my first loves and a more recent love collide!!! wahhh!!
so exciting!!! i'm so thrilled about this video, what a treat!! watching this while crocheting a daisy & peace vest no.17, inspired by you mentioning it in a previous video/stream :-)
I've been following both you and Heikala for years and both of you have been such a huge inspiration to me in regards to my art! Seeing this video was so special and I would happily watch all two hours of content if I could!
That was awesome. Talented illustrators. Fun drawings. My fave Studio Ghibli movies are Totoro, Howls and Spirited Away. Theyre all so good. So hard to choose. ❤
thank you, this was playing on the background as i worked around the house and it was so relaxing. you two connected so deeply, lovely listening to your conversation
this is so therapeutic. It is a dream to draw and talk and (listen too )with someone with a similar passion. Not many people can listen to other so this is a music to my ear :)
AAAAAH! THIS WAS SUCH A GREAT TIME! i may have teared-up a little at various parts hahaha! soooo cuuuuuute! absolutely loved watching both of you draw! and your conversation was so freakin' good as well! YAY! THIS WAS AWESOME! THANK YOU BOTH! eeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
I actually enjoyed this so much! Just sorry to haven't played it while I was drawing but I get to watch you two drawing and now I can only think on picking up my sketchbook!!! Congrats to Heikala!
This is such a relaxing video and perfect for a draw along 😌 although I didn't draw fairies or witches or cats. I was actually drawing cars that when Heikala said, "I don't want to draw cars" I thought, "me too!" But only afterwards did I realise that I was drawing cars the whole time 😂 wouldn't mind more videos like this with other art friends, if you'd like to make another 🧡🧡
omg I loved this! I love how different and yet similar you two draw -- seeing both processes at once was super fun to compare and contrast! go forth my ballpoint warriors!! I was wondering if you could do a video talking about how you moved from TX to Seattle? That's nearly exact to what I want to do (just coming from Utah instead) and I'd love to hear any advice or experiences you had in making that trip!
Thank You Really for this session. Because she is one of my favorite watercolor & ink artist. She doesn't really do video format so i thank you for this collab T^T
I started watching this video while trying to come up with a birthday card design, and I start by doing the exact same thing as heikala with the thumbnails! so when she said she starts by drawing these little squares I looked down at my sketchbook page of little empty rectangles like "woah! something in common with heikala!" 😂
tiny correction at 1:30 heikala works a lot with watercolour and pigment inks (not alcohol inks) - specifically, she works with Rohrer & Klingner Zeichentusche / Calligraphy Ink (29700)
I loved this real-time drawing session, it was really inspiring and interesting to watch how you both draw and flush out your ideas! It's made me feel excited to draw
as a long time fan of yours I don’t mean to sound overly harsh but - have you ever wondered if your frustration with your art stems from the fact that it has not fundamentally changed or progressed in several years? I mean, you can go back and watch any sketchbook video of yours in the past 3 years - they all are the same style and, not only that, they are page after page of essentially the same drawing. when I’m frustrated with my art, I go back to fundamentals: perspective, composition, construction, anatomy. When was the last time you drew from life? And no, I don’t mean copying the pose/outfit of a pinterest photo - I mean actually committing yourself to faithfully rendering what you observe onto the paper in front of you. This sort of practice will not only improve your work but make you feel better about it
The video length is so pleasing to me
I’m a simple girl, I see Cheyenne and Heikala are having a Draw With Me, I click😁
Also, shout out to all of the Howl’s Moving Castle girlies😆😆😆
