To make it easier to see the screw holes, I put a piece of white tape over the holes and push the screw through the white tape. Then you can see the holes much easier when you reinstall the valances.
Good video, thanks. Coincidentally, it looks like we have the same 5th wheel. Mine is a 2017. Aside from some trim/fabric differences I see in the video, I think we have the same model. Anyway, I do have problem with one of my MCD blinds in particular, the large one on the dinette slider. Other's I've had minor problems with and was able to resolve. This one has been giving problems for months... This blind loses it's tension. I've taken it down "too many" times. Adjusted it manually to add tension, and sometimes it will hold once or twice, but it pretty consistently unwinds - at time, completely to the point that it unwinds/falls all the way to the end. I've been in touch with MCD and was told some have a problem with the spring tensioner inside the tube spinning and he suggested using a hot iron to burn in 3 dimples to tighten it up.. Tried that twice, but no effect. The malfunction seems to be in the end mechanism assembly. When I pull the blind down, you can hear it spin and release. I'm ready to rip it out and buy something from a local store..... I've also (today) reached out again to MCD, asking for a solution, even if it means buying a replacement.. They tend to believe their product is unfallable... I just need a blind that works and I'm tired of messing with this thing... Any suggestion? photos.app.goo.gl/CbgdwQ3d4NLfZwjY6
Thanks for making this video. I just subscribed and “clicked the bell”. 👍 I found it after my MCD shade BOTTOM came off. Actually, it was “wrinkled” and I slid it out to try to straighten it, making a mess of the works. When putting it back together, now the bottom comes off every time. There is a flat metal bar inside that the shade wraps around. The bar “catches” in the shade pull. I was able to take the end off of a working one to see how it works. Maybe someday I’ll make a video! In the meantime, I am similarly moving for work and will be living in my 36’ Flagstaff, and will be looking forward to seeing your videos!
Welcome to the Younger Gang! Sounds like a great fix; I’ve worried about that happening to ours - you should definitely do a video on it! Thanks for dropping in to say hello. We’ve got some more great things coming soon for you to check out! Where are you headed?
Nice video, thanks, my problem is the shade is stuck in up position. Any suggestions, any help is appreciated. My MCD blinds are a tan color, in a 2018 Keystone Alpine FK Model 3801.
I have tried multiple times to get the valance off, I got the screw on each side off however, it is near impossible to reach the upper screws. There’s got to be an easier way to get this off so that I can fix the shade. I have a Leisure 2016 Libero van
Have any tricks to put the strip back on at the bottom? When the fabric separates from the double tape, the handle at the bottom falls off. Thanks. Great video. Btw
Thanks for the RV window shade inservice. Protip: You can insert a finish nail or small head screw into the valence as an alignment guide when reinstalling if you are working alone. Line it up. pull the small screws, run in the fastening screws, done.
@jason perkins Glad to help! Believe it or not, I have another one to fix again. One of the kids tripped and apparently grabbed it on the way down, lol! Be sure to tell us how fixing it works out for you.
So my shade came down and is always falling down. It does go back up but i have had to Jerry Rig lol the roller so that it is clipped to my valance to stay up but i have to stick my fingers up in between to roll it up to get it up. Do you recommend taking down the valance and than replacing or just checking to see if maybe it is the mechanism that is broke? I am refusing to pay more $$$ to the dealer who built my rig ground up for me to have so many issues already :-(... Also do you have any videos on how to replace the slider master bedroom door.? thanks so much for doing this video.
My shades have the opposite problem they won't stay down. We rigged them down by stuffing napkins at the top. They are still broke. Thanks for the video
We travel with our shades down to keep the sun out. The large shad sometimes rolls up while traveling. This last trip it rolled up and is locked in the up position. Can't pull it down. Any suggestions?
WOOHOO! I saw another brand of shades but the price was astronomical. I did some searching and found MCD tonight, then went searching TH-cam and found your video. Thanks for sharing the info - I'm interested in replacing the mini blinds in my RV. Are these "slow rise" or do you need to hold them while letting them go up, to prevent them from snapping and rolling up at high speed?
@Delta Bravo That's great! We really like these shades as they are great for blocking out the sun and the heat. I would say you should hold onto them as they require a short tug downward to start and stop their movement. It definitely depends on how they are adjusted, though; a couple of ours are slow, but three of them are pretty fast. Now that I'm more familiar with adjusting the tension, I may try to tighten the slow ones a bit and loosen the tight ones.
Possibly. I wouldn't imagine that much has changed in regard to roller tension technology since 98. It probably has a tensioner screw of some sort on one or both sides of the rollers.
Younger Every Day - RV Living Tips & Adventures thank you! I will try to remove them and see if I can adjust the tensioner. You are wonderful. Update: I removed them and rolled them up by hand and it made the tension go back to tight. So they work again!!
My 2020 Keystone Fuzion has a shade that looks like this and I think its called an Easy Up shade. When released it goes up slow by design. On mine, the lower rail bar that you grab (@4:44) when you pull or release came off 2 of mine the other day, 1st trip out. Any idea how these shades are retained inside the tube?
I had a problem with one of the shades not rolling up. Turned out the internal spring broke. MCD is sending a replacement. $50. Shade is 7 years old. Better than a $250 total 2 shade replacement..
I just purchased an EPro from Flagstaff. On our maiden voyage when I was trying everything out, I saw this lever above the blinds in the door window had these little levers above them. I wondered, "Hmmmm, wonder what that does." Well, I moved one of the levers and the entire blinds came down. They use a weird little wheel to wrap around at two points at the top and two points at the bottom. Called the dealer and they were no help. I have tried everything to re-hang them to no avail. Whoever designed something this poorly needs to be..... Well, anyway, have you ever heard of such a thing?
I haven't heard of those. It doesn't surprise me that the dealer didn't know. I like to compare buying an RV from a some dealers to buying a space shuttle from an elementary school kid: they know it has the basic stuff you need but they don't usually know much about the details or how it works. I'll let you know if I see anything on yours. Have you tried sharing a pic of it on an RV group on Facebook? There are a lot of knowledgable people on there who might be able to help.
Thanks for having an informative video... I've been fighting a blind for the last 6 months.
Very good video, i was able to fix my shades first try. Thanks so much
To make it easier to see the screw holes, I put a piece of white tape over the holes and push the screw through the white tape. Then you can see the holes much easier when you reinstall the valances.
Thanks for the tip - I have to take two more down to adjust the tension on them, so I'll give this a try.

Good timing to find this video.... One of our shades just stopped working. It won't stay down.

Mine is also stuck down. Any luck finding how to fix?

Theres little metal clips that hold the valance tube on the valance. All you have to do is push up on one side and it will release
How do you take the entire shade bracket out of the valance once you have it off ?
Excellent video, like your detailed instruction. My problem is with a pleated shade that needs a tension adjustment...
My shades have the opposite problem they won't stay down. We rigged them down by stuffing napkins at the top. They are still broke. Thanks for the video
Very helpful video. Thank you.
Used this vid to fix mine. Thanks.
Called them. They helped me diagnose the problem.
That's great to hear! Thanks for sharing your experience.

Thank you,very big help
i have an issue of the shade coming loose from handle? can the handle piece be taken apart and the curtain slid back in?
Would be nice if you answered questions that were asked
We have electric sun visor blinds for driver and passenger side windshield. One has stopped retracting. Any ideas?
I have an older motorhome (1998) with old vinyl roller shades. Wonder if this would get them to be faster again. The tension is slow...

@@privacymatters5204 I was going to suggest this to you. I've done that to roller shades from years ago, nothing much has changed.
Thank you for four help
You’re so welcome! Let us know if you have any questions.
Mine unglued itself from the roller, got a fix for that?

Ours are taped to the tube at the end I think. We have MCD shades. Thanks for watching and commenting!
#1 instruction: Make sure you are leveled. Flexing of your structures can change clearances and cause loss of contact between hardware parts.
The metal piece on my shade ripped off the valence on one side :( how do I fix that
Thanks
We have the same np 375 👍🏻
Sweet! What year is yours? We have a 2017.
Younger Every Day - RV Living Tips & Adventures we have a 2017
I had a problem with one of the shades not rolling up. Turned out the internal spring broke. MCD is sending a replacement. $50. Shade is 7 years old. Better than a $250 total 2 shade replacement..
That's fantastic! Glad to hear MCD took care of it for you. How did you reach out to them?
Called them
My shade fell off. I don’t have the top cover.
Mine won’t roll up no matter what I try!!
Did not see your blind retract fully.
