    Cell phone is a big one. And don’t forget the cost of task switching on your brain. Checking your phone will kill your productivity quickly even if you just check for a second.

    Good video, but I have to disagree with the first point. It is possible to study for 3 hours straight, but after an hour or so, the quality of learning decreases. You had great self control to use your phone for just 3 minutes every hour. Most people need a 5 minute break after an hour of studying and a half hour break after 3 hours. They could choose not to use their phone and walk around, eat something, etc. but it's still 3-5 minutes spent. This time spent on a break is necessary and is important for both effective and efficient study

    I think there is some research about resting (not getting distracted by your phone) every 10 minutes for every hour studied, because it is kind of impossible to mantain the level of sharpness and focus over a 3-hour study period, everyday.

    Hey AJ, loved the video
    My question is do you think creating flashcards will be helpful to include in my studies as a form of active recall?

    • @straighttalks-ajsrmek323
      @straighttalks-ajsrmek323  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think flashcards are a waste of paper. I just write terms and definitions all in a word doc, print it off, and cover the answers with another sheet of paper then uncover to test yourself. Uses 1 piece of paper rather than 100.

    • @MrOsha7

      Hey Aj, i think you may have misunderstood me or i should have made myself more clear... i meant virtual flashcards using apps/websites like quizlet and anki

      Hmmm, good question. Maybe about 1/2 of exam pace. So for L2 and L3 vignettes that would be about 30.

    my level 2 exam is in a week and i've given up. last 2 days i just didn't study at all. i got so exhausted from studying 12 hours a day for 2 weeks prior to that, that i just couldn't take it anymore. and i've only done 2 mocks. the rest of the mocks, i just scanned thru the answers. i know i'm failing 100% and i know what i did wrong. first, kaplan material was a mistake. for next year i'm gonna study from cfa material. second thinking i can do 7-8 mocks 3 weeks before the exam lol. and lastly, putting 12-18 hours a day 3 weeks in the exam to memorize everything. this is the worst thing i've done as it caused me stress, body pain and complete exhaustion. no way i'm doing that again next year. i'm gonna instead study 2-3 hours a day for 6 months. but my question to you is, how many hours were u studying on average 2 weeks before the exam?

    • @straighttalks-ajsrmek323
      @straighttalks-ajsrmek323  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cmon man you still gotta try! Only one more week of the struggle to see how well you can do! 2 weeks out I was still studying 3 hours per day.

    • @magnificencetv7424
      @magnificencetv7424 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@straighttalks-ajsrmek323 thanks for the response. i am gon sit for the exam and study for a few more days. but not going to study 18 hours a days for nxt few days. it's pointless as i know i haven't prepared well at all. i mean i've only done 3 half mocks of kaplan.
      but anyways don't wanna rant too much, instead want to ask u this: when i retake the exam do i have to restudy the entire material again (given it will change for 2022)? i'm asking cz i really wanna study from cfa material this time and not kaplan.
