Question, the oscilloscope test is performed on a transformer. But it is AC that voltage and current is measuring. I do not think that a few simple resistors attenuate the current and voltage would burn the phone
Based on the diagram it is connected to a microphone pin of a jack. And a microphone produce an AC signal thats why it reads ac mains which is 50hz or 60hz and it is inside the audio frequency spectrum. I think he uses low power transformer maybe thats why it only have a maximum of 20V, I just don't know if it is peak-peak or peak-zero point.
Did you noticed that your application setting was bluetooth one and was disconnected too so is it possible to do so without turning it to microphone mode. You are playing the demo one.
The app looks good, but it was a bit worrying how you demo with a live transformer and loose wires dangling around that almost were going to short out if you didn't push them apart. This is why i prefer to work only with low voltages and don't open up transformers - personally, stay safe!

You can try using probe x100 it will attenuate the signal drastically yet as the author of this demonstration said: it might not be a good idea putting your phone on the line here. Also I take no responsibility if you destroy your device or hurt yourself if you follow suit whatsoever.
@@ronen124 calibrate it on a printed chart for accuracy and question was for 220 volt, I.e. in india , generally 220v is asked as 220v AC for which transformer is safe to use in practice... After all its a virtual Oscilloscope, not a regular one

I too had the same issue, but I figured out that, for mobile to switch to external microphone, the impedance should be in specific range i.e, about ( 1k - 1.5k) but the value may differ with different mobiles. For me, 1k didn't working but 2k worked. (2/12 ratio). Thankyou.

I belived it depends on phone's DAC, the better one like in VIVO model would surely be able to handle higher freq while the low n mid ranges phones would only be able to handle standard audio freq (20hz-29khz) unless u r lucky when yr phone manufacturer used better DAC but try at yr own risk thou.... 😜

@@PhdHung the earphone jack is not an input! the Diode protect the circuit from small electric amounts but i think that 5v or more for some seconds can seriously damage it then damage the other components

Upper freq of bandwidth is about 20 khz and I suppose lower freq is not 0hz, so, to what frequency value can the non-continuous AC signal drop?
Why at minute 2:07 the frequency of the tested network signal is not 50 or 60 hz but 100hz then it passes to 500 and finally to 51?

replace 1k with 10k, 10k with 500k and add another 500k between ground wire and headphone jack and voila! you can measure mains voltage.
I don't think that is a good idea. Just a small mistake will destroy your phone.

The 1K resistor is getting Super hot at 12v 1A. Can I use only the 10K resistor?

its only 12mA

The maximum voltage that can be measured is 20v. It cannot measure the waveform of a 220V grid. So I use transformer 220V to 12V.

This project uses the phone's audio chip, each phone has a different audio chip, so it probably won't work with all phones.

(75Vx2) x 30A ~ 4500W. You need to use 60VDC voltage and 4 EE55 cores.
