Hamsuns Nobelpris i 1920

Knut Hamsun mottok Nobels litteraturpris i 1920 for romanen ''Markens grøde''. Prisutdelingen fant sted den 10. desember, i Musikaliska Akademien i Stockholm. Kona ti Hamsun oppsummerer dagen slik hun minnes den.

Hamsun got very drunk after toasting with all the people wanting to gratulate him.
His wife had to help him to bed, where she only managed to take of his tie.
He had given his wallet and his prize diploma to a servant at the party, and told him he could take whatever he wanted. The servant gave it to the wife.
Hamsun woke up the next morning, bewildered and confused, saying:
"But what is this, have I slept all night without my tie on?"
