I've been playing music for about 15 years but I'm just getting into recording my own music. This video is such a huge help however subtle the change may be it's exactly the things I need to learn right now. Thanks again bud!
PHENOMENAL LESSONS! This is worth its weight in gold. I use a Kemper Profiling Amp worth around 2.000$ and a pretty mid-tier acoustic-electric and when I record some already awesome tones I WAS STUNNED when I learned that I could actually DRAMATICALLY change the overall sound of the GUITAR ITSELF and the tone by following this guide. You have opened up not a single door but the steel vault bomb safe hack-proof door that stood between me the artist and the world of possibilities to actually record something on my own and publish it, my many different hats off to you! Thanks!!
I'm loving these tutorials and learning a lot. The explanations and visuals are clear, concise, and easy to follow even for a novice home recorder. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you SO MUCH, Audiohackr! As someone who knew NOTHING about the technical side of music, your explanations are clear, concise and understandable while giving great information! Sub'ed!
Hey man, thanks for making such an excellent video. I've been making music for around 5 years now and only just decided to learn to master. Very helpful. I hope you get a lot more recognition. I liked the song in the background, by the way. Made me dig for your bandcamp
This was really helpful. I'm trying to get into the habit of doing songs on my own since my mixing/mastering guy is quitting. I still find myself new to the subject of mastering, but it's coming together slowly.
Good stuff. Also, can do all this on a stereo mix down instead of on the master track. That can be advantageous: less memory use, quicker renders, and also forces you to mix with that in mind, to where you don't think "I can just fix the mix if the master isn't right."
Just what I needed, someone to explain clearly how to master in Reaper. I am looking forward to giving your tips a try. You have explained things so well - thank you!
Amazing video. 1 quick question, what's the difference between the ReaPlugs Edition plugins? Example I see ReaComp (Cockos) & ReaComp (ReaPlugs Edition) (Cockos). My logic tells me that the ReaPlugs edition is like a newer one with some new features?
Thanks a lot, I released a demo last year and was kind of bummed that it's super quiet, hopefully I can now get my next release to have a decent volume!
From France thanks for the video. Who plays the song you use for the tutorial ? It sounds well.

Hi, excellent video, thanks! I have a question, I can see that you are using Audiohackr presets with the plugins, these presets are available to download? cheers!
Will the FX I set up for each track play or do I have to set up something? I'm asking because in a video, the creator says that the FX he is using are only for the moment, not for the file that will be rendered. Thanks.
question for you. Toward the end of the video where it shows the fx master track. You know how it shows the two blue lines on each side showing the volume. Mine isnt doing that and it's not giving me an option to choose "audio hacks". Please help!
Cheers! Thanks for watching! REAPER's pretty awesome... For years I used to use Logic and Pro Tools... then I switched to REAPER and I haven't looked back!
do you apply all in the master channel. or previus you had compresor and other effects in separate tracks? for example the youtube free insturmentals are mastered so if you need to decrease the bass frequenzy where do you do? in the instrumental or in the master?
Thanks for watching! This is really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to mastering. The goal here is to just get your songs sounding a bit more polished before your share them! If you want to see how the pros do it check out this video: th-cam.com/video/eQF8ORNJYbk/w-d-xo.html showing Joe Lambert doing his thing. If you're interested in getting more detailed info about doing it yourself, check out Ian Shepherd's channel: th-cam.com/users/masteringmedia. Cheers!!!
Thank you so much, my first time recording my own songs an they were low in volume, no clipping issues, but just low after mixing. Now using your tips step by step i have the results that i dreamed of in the first place. Once again, thank you kind sir
I love this video!!!! I'm just curious as to why my master limiter has the bit clipping on the left... I can hear it too and it's a little overwhelming haha...
This is excellent information. However, the VST and JS plugins on my installation of Reaper don't have the same presets as yours.I have far fewer in my versions of the same plugings. Is there something I can do to add more presets?
I feel confident with audio engineering my own music and I am a very fast learner. I just need help with how to add those certain audio hacks. Where do I go to download and save them in my library so I can upload it for future masterings?
Re: Using the multi-band compressor on the master track to improve the bass but not affect the other frequencies. What are the reasons for not doing this to the bass track alone before mastering or vice versa?
Hello Michael...good stuff mate but you reference your Audiohackr presets in the video and I could find no links to presets, none are on the website and nothing in the Reaper Stash...so would you mind sharing where we all can find these presets please?
Great video!!! I've paid $100 a couple of times for professional mastering. They do a bit more, but I think I can do it myself & have a great sounding mix through Reaper. Nice job!!!
I can't get that guitar solo out of my head! LOL! That's when you know you have something good. I'm trying to do other things right now, but all I hear in my mind is "Bummmm bum bum bummmmmmmm....... bum bum bummmm......"
Only the volume is stronger with the limiter but for the rest no change because the compressors in this case do not act your ratio is 1 !. The sensitivity of the human ear is 3db so 1db is inaudible
Thank you very much for your great contribution, it is very nice that a real pro is supporting the community that is starting, I have heard that reaper is a very stable daw mui and I would like you to confirm if it is true what you say that it is a stable daw, I'm a user of samplitude x4 pro and I'm disappointed with my daw, it's already quite unstable and I can't stand it anymore and I've decided to change to the most stable daw, that's my goal and I think reaper is the answer, please your expert opinion would be of great help, I'd appreciate it in my soul. Thank you.
I have a problem. Dunno if the mic we used or if it is a EQ problem. I'm rather pleased with a song I mixed and began to master, but it don't have that... clarity/clear/distinctive sound. Any thoughts about that?
It could be a number of things. I was really conservative with my EQ on the master. Perhaps you could try cutting more of the upper bass (somewhere between 200-300Hz) by 3dB or more, and boost the upper mids (somewhere between 3-5KHz) by the same amount. These EQ suggestions might be too specific. You may want to try going back to your mix and eq'ing specific elements instead. Best of luck! Thanks for watching!
I wasn't able to find them either, so i just changed the parameters to match the ones after he clicked the add weight preset and then saved it as a new preset and titled it ADD WEIGHT. Voila!
Great video. I have one doubt: wasn't expected that before mastering you transforme all the tracks in one and olny Stereo Master track? Thank you and congrats!
I think he is using an already made song for these tutorials. In the video about exporting files, he has the file name listed as Yorkshire Lady. A quick google search and I found the song on bandcamp by Old Kid. oldkidmusic.bandcamp.com/track/yorkshire-lady
I really loved the tutorial, really helpful! I just got a question about the track, is it necessary to create the master with all the tracks (vocals, bass, guitar, drums), of the song or can it be done with the "kind of final" mix of the song? I hope my question is clear
5 years later it's still the best, cuz by now nobody made more particular and simpler video about mastering in reaper, thank you
Five years later, this is still valid. A really helpful guide.
Immediately went downstairs to improve a mix, such a noticeable difference! And I had not been overwhelmed by online options. Thank you!
I've been playing music for about 15 years but I'm just getting into recording my own music. This video is such a huge help however subtle the change may be it's exactly the things I need to learn right now. Thanks again bud!
Wow, your channel is a hidden gem. Just what I need at this moment! Keep it up!
Cheers! Thanks for watching!
I just realised you guys have such an affordable course on your site! Definitely enrolling!!!😀

I like that you put a picture of real tools in the area where you were mentioning mastering tools. Amazing video mate!
Cheers! Thanks for watching!
I can't get over how amazingly simple and helpful this video is.
Thanks for watching! Cheers!

Cheers! Thanks for watching! If you're looking for this song on Bandcamp you can find the original version here: oldkidmusic.bandcamp.com/
This is a quality video! You've earned a new sub!!
Cheers! Thanks for watching!
One of the best tutorial I ever met about Mastering in Reaper
Holy. I can't believe that you were able to get such a big improvement from those simple additions. Great video!
This was really helpful. I'm trying to get into the habit of doing songs on my own since my mixing/mastering guy is quitting. I still find myself new to the subject of mastering, but it's coming together slowly.
For your Master Sweetener, what are the settings for band 2 & 3?
Whatever sounds best
I know this vid is a bit old, but is the Add Weight preset a personal preset as it is not in the default ReaComp plugin it seems?
Most things I thought about you said it, you definitely know your stuff. You also don't rush so I like and subscribe.
Awesome! Thank you!
I like the simple changes you did. It made that bass end a lot more smoother. You helped me with my project I am making right now.
please start making tutorials again. You were great at it. Please don't stop.
Good stuff.
Also, can do all this on a stereo mix down instead of on the master track.
That can be advantageous: less memory use, quicker renders, and also forces you to mix with that in mind, to where you don't think "I can just fix the mix if the master isn't right."
This is the easiest most user friendly tutorial I’ve ever seen.
I was getting depressed about my low volume levels, thank you!
I'm glad I could help! Thanks for watching!
@@Audiohackr Where can I download the song you used? Edit: I couldn't find it on soundcloud
Where do I get the Add Weight?
Just what I needed, someone to explain clearly how to master in Reaper. I am looking forward to giving your tips a try. You have explained things so well - thank you!
Amo este video, aprendí muchísimo. Gracias.
Cheers Audiohackr your explanation is very clear. Now let's see if I can stop my bass sounding woolly.
Thanks a lot, I released a demo last year and was kind of bummed that it's super quiet, hopefully I can now get my next release to have a decent volume!
All changes were so small, but in the end the difference was massive... Wow :| nice vid!
Cheers! Thanks for watching!
Would these tips work for all music such as HipHop too? Thanks!
From France thanks for the video. Who plays the song you use for the tutorial ? It sounds well.
Hi, excellent video, thanks! I have a question, I can see that you are using Audiohackr presets with the plugins, these presets are available to download? cheers!

Can you show me your Rea x comp full setting?
Great video, so simple yet effective
Very happy that I found your channel. Subbed and all that. Keep going brother.
at about 9:43, it looks like the side indicators are clipping. That's all right? It's ok to clip over there? Why?
A++ now I've got a solid basis for mastering - Using your technique made a significant change Thanks
Hi, My reacomp does not have "Add Weight" as a choice, are there additional presents available somewhere?
Tube vst is left only in chain otherwise its is perfect ..you are so magically understandable .Very genius teacher.
What a goldmine and motivation booster this video is ! Thank you
question for you. Toward the end of the video where it shows the fx master track. You know how it shows the two blue lines on each side showing the volume. Mine isnt doing that and it's not giving me an option to choose "audio hacks". Please help!
Thank you! A very simple and helpful video
and about the LUFS?
Very cool content. Learned a still, and saved some money on plugins.
Seeing your vids, I feel really happy I use Reaper, it's so cool you do tutorials about it.
Cheers! Thanks for watching! REAPER's pretty awesome... For years I used to use Logic and Pro Tools... then I switched to REAPER and I haven't looked back!
In the ReaComp plugin I couldn't find the preset "add weight"
a workaround is just copy the settings from the video into ReaComp
ja me to
Good Idea
I don't have none of them extra settings i gotta pause and put them in manually
DEE GUTTA make a preset
where can I download those presets?
This is exactly what I've been looking for! Now I'm gonna remaster all my old songs. Yay :)
Wow im mad at myself for not finding this 2 years ago. Love your videos and channel!
Such a difference between before and after ; great video. Thx
do you apply all in the master channel. or previus you had compresor and other effects in separate tracks? for example the youtube free insturmentals are mastered so if you need to decrease the bass frequenzy where do you do? in the instrumental or in the master?
does it matter what type of genre im trying to mix and master??? or aslong as i do what you did it will work with hip hop songs???
You make these processes so understandable, You have made a new sub here , Thanks for your knowledge
Cheers! Thanks for watching and subscribing!!!
I don't have the "add weight" preset when I search under ReaComp. Do I have to download it? if so where?
Easily the clearest tutorial of its kind I've seen yet. Thank you!
I signed up for that course just for those plugins. How do I find and use them?
Thank you! This is great. I've never mastered anything before and this is a great start after only ten minutes.

i'm new to reaper, i have all the fx needed but don't have the audio hackers your applying. do you get these when you pay for program?
Hey. its aplying automatic for all instruments ?
Just found this and You have really put together some fascinating information. Thank you!
Cheers! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for these videos. Your presentations are very professional. The voiceover is just great. Reaper should hire you.
Thank you for the kind words. And thanks for watching!
You're welcome.

You are a god. I love you and everything you do!
Seriously, you've helped me in a million different ways. Thank you!

Awesome. I am going to give this a try. New subscriber! 🤟😎🎸
does the frequency numbers change depending on the genre - rap, country, rock etc?
finally found a decent tutorial on mastering.
Wow. Such an amazing video. Thanks for the help

hi..i dont have the add weight? how come? lol running the v6.51 version now
Sooo, where do I get the Audiohackr Presets you mentioned?
I wasn't able to find them either, so i just changed the parameters to match the ones after he clicked the add weight preset and then saved it as a new preset and titled it ADD WEIGHT. Voila!
Will you please send me that song, or send me a link to purchase it??? I need that song.
That reaxcomp was the game changer for me
Disculpe: y para masterizar en lote, (en REAPER) digamos 9 canciones como sería el proceso?
Hi great video may I ask what vsts did u use to make this?
For the audio, I just used the plugins you see on the screen. For the video capture I used Screencast-o-matic. Cheers!
Great video.
I have one doubt: wasn't expected that before mastering you transforme all the tracks in one and olny Stereo Master track?
Thank you and congrats!
where did you get the audio hacker presets and the others, I don't have them in my Reaper and I have the lastest version? Thanks for your help.
Thanks for watching! The Audiohackr presets only available to subscribers of our website audiohackr.com/
Do you have this song out though? I'd like to listen to the whole thing mastered :)

Is this a song from the game The Surge? or Surge 2?
I noticed that when comparing the very last time that you did not have the Xcomp activated.
