Welcome back folks. In this video we take a look my process for keeping my Hornady LnL Progressive Press running smoothly. I do this every 5000 rounds or so. I clean it up, change out shell plates, change out the spring, grease it. I'm changing out from 45 ACP to 9mm, so expect a few 9mm projects coming up

nice video. Ive had my press now for 4 years and never dona any of that - but now its time 😉
Thx for the good advices. Some greese might be needed.
About every 5000 rounds of so I find it is worthwhile to take the shell plate off, clean up any mess, lube everything if needed, replace the spring and so on. The press in the end functions better over the long term in my opinion.
You say the press is greased but you show a clean grease ring on the post. If that did not carry the grease around the post housing while in up position when greased , it’s not greased . Also you should not clean it afterwards as it wipes mores grease on the post housing each cycle
The “bottom plate” is the sub plate
I use 99% alcohol for cleaning. Cuts right through the grease and grime but evaporates super fast leaving no residue
If you just lift the turret, the spring will fall down w/o any yanking on the spring.
I am embarrassed to say I have allowed my press to get away from me. I have had it for 2 years and have not done proper maint. Thanks to you and your videos I am on the road to recovery. How can I prevent surface rust on both my press and my components between reloads. The main area I'm referring to is my powder measure parts.
Well you gave me a good idea and I'll address this in a future video in regards to preventing surface rust. I have a few tips I can pass on. Stay tuned.

What type of grease you are using for the fittings is there a particular weight and brand thanks
I'm just using a regular grease that works for the tractor, not sure of the brand.
