Tortelier - so influenceable on me as a British cellist in the late 70's.His schumman and greid Sonatas are yet to be surpassed, for passion, sound, clarity and pure communication to an audience.

My favourite cellist. Arguably not the greatest but I'm entranced by his style and his tone.

Couldn't agree more. Feuermann was the greatest but Tortelier remains my favourite.
