Ave Maria- Astor Piazzolla for Violoncello and Piano

- This very personal version of Astor Piazzolla’s Ave Maria (“Tanti Anni Prima”) was performed this spring in the Ukrainian church „St. Barbara“ in Vienna as a heartfelt prayer for love and forgiveness.
Our own arrangement of the same piece with Orpheus Chamber Orchestra Vienna and Conductor Konstantinos Diminakis was recorded the following day as a part of Donka Angatscheva’s Album „Childhood memories“, HitSquad Records, which was released 2022 on Spotify and all other Platforms.

Teodora... I have loved Astor Piazzola's music for decades and, in particular, "Tanti Anni Prima", my favorite of all his works. And of all the beautiful recordings of this work, such as Stjepan Hauser's, there are two recordings of this beautiful work which are my absolute favorites... yours and that of Slovenian violinist Anja Bukovic. And please take this as the Very highest of praise, since my dear friend Primož Zevnik produced and directed her performance, through his "PPZ" production company, and posted the recording of it on his (Zevnikov) TH-cam channel.
I hope that you will tell Donka that her piano accompaniment to you here is absolutely beautiful and perfect, speaking as a lifelong (although currently out of practice) classical pianist. 😩
And I can not think of a higher compliment to give to you than to tell you that, no matter how many times I have listened to your performance of Señor Piazzola's masterpiece, it brings tears my eyes each time.

I did not know this work of my compatriot. It is the typical beautiful melancholy of Piazzola. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have known it.

That piece was recorded shortly after the war in Ukraine started. It was about a broken heart and prayer for hope.
