      They don't really taste bad but they just don't have the same flavor experience an unfiltered anejo would have and they typically cost more. Thanks for watching. Glad you like the video!

    This is a great explanation of the cristalino process and what a cristalino actually is. It does seem to be a bit of a marketing ploy. I've noticed Jose Cuervo has also recently come out with their own cristalino .. and the bottle and clarity does looks quite inviting. I do believe however I'll stick with the Blanco's, Reps and Anejo's (with the full flavors and colors.)

    A good friend that loves Anejos asked, "What's a Cristilino?"
    When she was given the "It's an anejo that's run through a filter.", She replied, "Why would anyone do that. Won't that remove flavor? That flavor is why I drink tequila."

      Yeah...I like them but since I have been digging into the " processes " ( reading info on tequila matchmaker and watching your channel) in general, some "tequilas" are easily differentiated as "this isn't why I drink Tequila" pours.
      TBH, Initially, thought your info was FOS until I focused on the certified non additive list.
      Now there are brands that I am not able to enjoy beyond the 1st pour. Some are like "eating a stick of butter"... Smell good, taste good in pat amounts but if you try more than a pat, it's not gonna end well.
      I now know why I feel bad the next day after extended sips of some so called premium tequilas.
      In the last review of Reserva de la Familia, it was obvious by your facial expressions that the retail pour was AWFUL. Dunno but it seemed like you really wanted to say something positive but absolutely couldn't.
      Keep doing your thing.
      PS...have you ever had a bad bottle of El Tesoro Extra Anejo (blue lable)?

    ROFL!!! Thank you so much. I just encountered the DJ Cristalino at Costco and was "sold" a bottle (to my regret) by the "expert" there. I looked into Cristalinos and just laughed and laughed. As a former research chemist, I know filtration and purification pretty well. I asked myself the same questions. Why oh why remove flavor components and glorious caramel coloration?
    Thank you for confirming my initial thought that the shi-shi marketers struck again. Oh well. $65 for another bottle of margarita tequila. Lesson learned.

      @young_pete8792 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I look at it as a fun drink, one to take shots in a group setting and traditional tequila is a slower sipper for people who enjoy that taste, which everyone isn’t a fan of.

    • @TheTequilaHombre
      @TheTequilaHombre  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I used to think Cristalino Tequila was kind of cool, but these days not so much. Imagine if you over filter the tequila and remove the flavoring, it would almost be like an Agave-based vodka. Plus the barrel aging for Reposado, Añejo, and Extra Añejo is meant to add character to the spirit, and if you take that all away then you’re basically back at square one.

    • @TheTequilaHombre
      @TheTequilaHombre  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Good explanation.
    A very important point we can agree on is that there is an innevatable removal of taste/flavor. It's sad to do that to an Anejo, but it is very easy to drink, and marketable to people my age. Much easier to drink and the "hype" nowadays online is a big driver to consumption. Marketing!

    Great information on it Mark... I just believe that if you want to drink Tequila, the cristalinos are not the option, they are like a separate spirit on their own, since you can hardly taste agave in them or probably not at all. I have tried Don Julio 70, and Maestro Dobel... they are good but when you have in your mind that you are going to taste Tequila and get the flavours of others things except tequilana agave well its a bit disappointing. I will said its more a liquor than a spirit.
