Ive been playing Yisan for 2 years now and just got my first cradle for christmas last year. Even I STILL learned some serious tech from this. My LGS knows me as the music man as I always play Yisan. Very very good video and amazing information from this player. Thank you for having this sit down, you've been having VERY good content lately. Keep it up!!
I'm rewatching this video 2 years down the road to draw comparisons to my own top 4 placement at a similar event last weekend for my TH-cam video. I never realized just how significantly this interview shaped my view of cEDH or how much it helped me improve in cEDH.
We havent talked in a long while sorry. I have played yisan in some games on this channel. But it is not a regular commander I bring here. I think Yisan has gotten weaker and weaker over time. Now he could still have some cool games going for him. But I don't think yisan is in a good stat in the current format.
@cedhtv 🙂🙂Thanks for replying back. Honestly I wouldn't say he's gotten weaker, especially with everyone on The One Ring (ouphe), but you definitely do have to think a LOT more on how you're playing him.😅
I remember I wanted to make a mono green commander after I made a niv mizzet Parun deck and Yisan stood out to me, I honestly didn’t think he would be so strong as a just a single colored commander but he proved me wrong in so many ways. My friends don’t like playing against it and I dint even run any stax pieces or anything Of that nature. Great video as always and I loved both of your guys views on yisan . Keep it up! 👍🏻
I loved this video, I’ve been following this channel for a long time and am happy to see yissan back. He was the first cedh deck I built and it was inspired by your budget video on him.
This guy definitely knows yisan. Perfect understanding of the deck and it’s complexities . You can’t do well with this deck without intimate knowledge of the decks in the meta .
Also i have a doubt, about dimensional infiltrator, in cedh seems like a really good card to interact with tutors, have anybody tested it? Was it good?
@@cedhtv I know, I'm being facetious. That said, I do wonder if CEDH would be better off if some of the expensive staples were either banned or less expensive.
@@williamsimkulet7832 best case scenario is if they would be reprinted so everyone could play whatever deck they want. but since reserved list exist we have to use proxies. and btw 1.6k is not that expensive compared to decks running multiple duals or twister.
Man, this Saturday is an Open Cedh Tournament on Bcn and this interviews and decklist are helping A LOT... you can't even imagine, actually, I did put Cephalid Colosseum on 5 colour deck because having an extra source to mill a Thassa Trigger even with a Silence resolved. Agreed with Yisan Player, I always take the hard way to learn from my mistakes and do it in a loop. I believe I'm not that good right now but I'll try to make top 1 with my 100% this weekend. PD: I'm playing Kenrith The returned King Scepter/Consult( tappedout.net/mtg-decks/kenrith-never-tapped-out/ )
Its basically Consultation Kess without the Forbidden tutors and Fish/ jace. And put in the Splinter combos. So its just a worse version of this deck really.
Well I am in love with Sisay. I gotta say. I am working on a rouge meta deck vs sushi hulk. But I really like Sisay. Just like how these players loved Yisan and heliod. So I would have brought Sisay if I was going to that tournament. (Sisay have been done fine vs Susihi)
@@yannaischrire7327 In full, non-proxy, paper, there is definitely a price limit. But there are a ton of full proxy friendly discord servers who love to play cEDH to play against pilots and not wallets. I highly recommend checking them out!
@@yannaischrire7327 Understandable. Many of the discord servers for the commanders have budget friendly options of building them at various power levels. And the discord community is from people all over the world. I definitely can't make you check them out, but if you're curious about the format they can be great resources.
I don't think you should have conceded the point on Yisan being beginner friendly. This guy seems to assume that someone saying "Yisan is beginner-friendly" equates to "a beginner can pilot the deck he built". It is very easy to build a linear combo with small variations or toolboxing as training wheels, and then slowly broaden your choices with meta information and experience.
I gave my opinion from the point that in cEDH we want to play the most optimized and efficient decks possible. With the amount of time that Yisan has been used and updated, we are at a very optimized state with only about 5-10 cards being traded out max for meta choices. Putting "training wheels" on a complex deck for the purpose of learning the format seems like a worse choice than giving a player a more proactive and straightforward list. I say Yisan is not beginner friendly because of the sheer amount of options available at any given time to a Yisan player. It is very difficult to make those decisions without already knowing how they will effect the other decks at the table, and having to know your list well enough to know what you need to find to proactively stop an opponent from winning. I do not believe Yisan is a beginner deck because his floor is high enough to make people not enjoy playing him as their introduction to one of the most powerful formats in commander. I do not mean to refute your opinion, I simply wanted to further explain my own.
If you play other colors there are better cards these days. Its a good card for yisan because he lacks colors. Hushbringer is just better being 2 mana instead of 3. So don't worry. Unless you play Mono green.
@@cedhtv Yisan and Krenko are my decks, they have their money cards aside from 4 respectively. I have the same mentality presented here, lets just grind it out amd figure out what to do! I sont mind losing either. 👍
