@@brich2929 dude that’s so cool absolutely one of my favorite bands ! Add me on IG @dustinprude17 I’m about to start showing all my rad gear over the next month!
Oh man my band covered this back in the day and it was so much fun. Some metalheads were coming in to practice after us, and they heard the riff from the waiting room, and said to me “shit is that your riff?” I was like “no I wish! It belongs to a girl” 🤟
When the double bass drums kicked in near the end, that's when I knew IV was going to be a kick ass album. Thank you all for keeping the Veruca Salt groove going!
What do you mean? They're very much active. The original line-up of Veruca Salt (Nina Gordon , Louise Post, Jim Shapiro and Steve Lack) came back a good 5 years ago and in 2015 they released a new album (Ghost Notes) and have been touring on a fairly regular basis ever since. Unless you mean the line-up from this video then yes, that was short lived (and kicked ass indeed).
Kellii Scott is an absolute beast on the drums. It's funny, I started as a Nina fan, but shifted to Louise by Eight Arms To Hold You and have loved everything Louise has done with VS since. The new album with the original four is going to kick ass.
Long time VS fan...since Volcano girls came out and then backtracked....I'm more than tickled that they got back together.. With that said I've always had a thing for this era...NICOLE...Damn...
I love a shirtless drummer so much!! Lol This isn't my favourite song from the album, it had to grow on me. However, this is my favorite performance of So Weird. Honestly, I prefer the music rather than the lyrics but overall it's fitting.
Are there more live videos of Veruca Salt back in the days? I need more rocking girls... Clearly, I am very happy that Veruca Salt are back together and they are super musicians as ever, but I more go for the hard stuff... Btw what did Nina do while she wasnt in Veruca Salt, a solo project? I need to see... those rocking ladies inspire me
+Anna Guggenberger Hard to find anything live that sounds as good as this. There's a concert in Germany where the crowd is lame af. Nina did solo stuff, hit the search bar!
No, there arent any VS live videos on TH-cam. Super weird. Also NO ONE knows what Nina did after leaving. Cant find a thing when doing a google search for her. Super weird huh?
@@scottt5484After leaving Veruca Salt Nina released an album called tonight and the rest of my life, then there was a scrapped album that I can't remember the name of, something with moonbeams in the title, and she released a second album called Bleeding Heart Graffiti, I think I have the order right on which album was scrapped, they're all available on TH-cam, including the shelved album (I think) Louise just released a solo album called Sleepwalker also, while Veruca Salt is in hiatus, as far as I know they haven't broken up again, wish they'd make another album soon though

I'm so glad they patched up their differences and came out with new stuff, which I love.. but this album was like ACDC kicking out songs without Angus.. a band missing one is.. well just not the same
Continuing on Lloyd Hartley's point about heavy rock...I had started a band just a year before this, with my best friend from high school (and a powerhouse female vocalist when she felt like it). We weren't prolific enough (and never properly escaped the burbs, which was the fatal flaw) but we lasted a decade and wrote some truly great stuff (and once we got the powerhouse rhythm section we needed, we grew into a frenetically fantastic live band). That was all before - get this - imploding over a drummer we both liked. Not saying AT ALL all that it's even analogous to the mighty VS (I don't know personal details - and they ain't my fuckin business! - besides, neither of us got anywhere close to getting with the drummer, so it was all just resentment that kept on growing for the final three years until we burned each other out...just a really pitiful way to go out, both musically and friendship-wise). But ya know...we actually used to call each other "Nina!" (or Neen, lol) all the time, based on how Louise screams her name on the choruses of "I'm Taking Europe With Me'. "Bite your tongue, you fucking bastard!!!"
Anyhow I do have a point, I promise! When this record came out, we were sharing a practice space with a metal band. We were covering this song (which we went on to do at shows, and it actually came out really f'in good) when they arrived to practice one night. As we were packing up one guy said to me 'holy shit, is that your riff???'...I was like 'nah, I wish!' Credit must and shall be given to the females who have the ability to do heavy just as well (and often better) than a bunch of dudes (alternative OR metal!) A song that's actually way heavier than that is "Innocent"...it's Pixies/Nirvana-level vocal shredding with a purpose, and easily in my top 10 (5 actually) of Louise's songs. Between the huge lurching chord progression and Louise's powder keg vocals (which blow up in the choruses and then go red alert on that bridge) it just rules. That's the only other VS song we attempted, and though we couldn't quite get the musical part 100% together (and therefore only played it at practice), getting to scream that vocal once a week - particularly being a male! - was some of the most fun (and exhaustion!) I've ever had musically. The only other song that challenged my smoke-covered lungs as much was our cover of "Wattershed" (which weird-ass rhythm changes made it a total blast to sing and play guitar on at shows). And those were the only two songs I ever sang lead on. This alt-rock thing keeps coming full-circle, man. And now I have to make room on Louise songs list for her really amazing new single called (ironically enough!) "Guilty"! You gotta love it. And though I haven't talked to my musical partner in nearly seven years, I know we both will always thank Nina and Louise for being massive and righteous musical influences on us. That's the REAL point of this whole overlong frickin diatribe, thx for reading!
Yeah, Nicole Fiorentino figured out she was gay and quit the Smashing Pumpkins right around the same time in 2011 or 2012. She still is touring though...now with a band called Night Terrors of 1927 or something close to that and she has also been working with her partner's band (they are married), The Cold and Lovely. I absolutely love Nicole Fiorentino and Brandi Carlile, too. But, they now "play for the other team" or something like that.
These two woman couldn’t be any more perfected to me as if I drew them up myself.. Louise brashness and gorgeous eyes..Nina feminine and innocent.. wow I’m at a lost for words..
I can't believe this song did so poorly and was looked down upon by so-called music critics. This and All Hail Me are probably my favorites from Veruca Salt. However, I am biased as I want just one thing in this world....to be married to Louise Post. Is that too much to ask? I'll leave my wife and girlfriend if that is what it takes, too.
