Roky did SUUUUUUUUUCH A GREAT GREAT JOB on this album!!!! Whole album is killer!! Like SO Bad Ass!!!! THANK YOU ROKY!!!!!! We love you, legend. You gave us so much. We wont forget it.
I can’t remember what skate video I first heard this on, but skate videos opened my world to music as a pre teen. Before that I had no idea music could be what it is.
Gonna be honest: Ultimate album: Collaboration between Roky Erickson, Syd Barrett, and Skip Spence. That would have blown a big-ass hole in Cosmos or something.
It's a cold night for dogs The dogs choke on their barking When they see alligator persons In the bar head fall It's a cold night for alligators When men turn into them in the night It's a cold night for alligators It's a cold night for their might It's a cold night for alligators Hiding behind the trees and moss Forever hear the swampers screaming They forever have lost It's a cold night for alligators In the blender It's a cold night for alligators A perfect monster has no end
Half the music industry wouldn't have a career without this guy. Or anyone that matters anyway. Roky helped invent psyche...and alternative music. He admitted himself that he could never throw away his musical dignity and compromise just to be commercial and make money.
There has to be something to this because I just randomly went from watching 3 Danzig videos to here without giving it any thought and saw your comment.
Roky's as amazing as he seems to be crazy. Look for the film "You're gonna miss me",it's great for anyone who wants to get a better idea of just who He was and is. One thing that's really interesting is that he can just sit down and make up a song right out of his head without hardly seeming to think about it much. His mother is nuts, too.
@@medicenplani yeah, I googled it and have listened to the whole album and some other of his stuff. Love the mix of rock, punk, goth, blues. It’s really unique. Thanks for replying. Welp, I gots to go back to the future! Thanks again!
roky was spaced out for many years because his mother would,nt allow him to get the meds he needed to be normal , his brothers got the right to be his caretaker and after years of treatment he,s now pretty much back to normal , their is a documentary about him and his family trying to help him and getting him the help to bring him back from his long long trip on acid!
Yeah, I've seen the flick on television ( Monster Vision, Fright Theatre, Elvira and the like ). Somebody aught'a make a vid of this song set to footage of that flick,..that'd work realy well.
LOL. Now, I actually think it may be, "dark and fog." A bog makes no sense...those only exist in Great Britain, not Louisiana. But yeah, Roky was waaay ahead of his time, so...perhaps he was having visions about blogging. j/k.
I live in Indiana and bogs most definitely exist here, so I'd imagine they could exist in Louisiana too (Also I'm about 85% certain it's "Bog and Fog" lmao
Good night Mr Alligator and rest in peace

Totally fanfokkintastik
R.I.P. Roky and thanks for all your great music.

Are you talking about the Circa It's time video? Stand for the fire demon is in that one
I love this! this is added in a playlist with bluesy greats.
Was lucky enough to see him in concert! Good stuff 😊
Everytime it gets below 28 degrees, I tell people: "It's a cold night for alligators."
Then you must say that a lot *laughs in celsius*
I have as of late. :)
Timothy Mayer I will now too
hhaahahah. anything below 25 C for me is cold. i live in india , its hot as hell
Hehe, anything above 18 C is warm in Sweden :)
Seems to me to be a perfect gentleman- not a cross word to say about anyone- childlike and kind spirit about him- I can't help myself- I like the man.
RIP Roky. Thank you for the music.
This is kick ass! Nothing like it out there in today's homogenized corporate made crap. Way to go Roky, keep stealing mail my friend! Love your style!
I love the Hellacopters version of this song, which was the first version I ever heard... But I can totally see why they covered it! I love it!
Rest In Peace Mr. Erickson :(
If hell existed and they play Roky's songs there; I'm in.
It was the coldest night for alligators ever when Roky passed away.
That was good night for death
@@bakonjaCRO I can't hate that ;)
Hassel brought me here, great Song, great Voice :)
The song is based on events in Roy Del Ruth's 1959 B-Movie, THE ALLIGATOR PEOPLE, starring Beverly Garland and Lon Chaney Jr.
Masterpiece by a true legend.
Imagine for a moment, if Roky and Syd had met and collaborated, what genius music may have been...
whoa...Sly Stone on keys/percussion, Lemy playing bass and providing vocals, and Keith Moon or Ringo on drums (depending on the mood of the song)
I never enjoyed syd’s stuff. Roky’s Stuff with the aliens blows all of that stuff out of the water.
Gonna be honest:

It's a cold night for dogs
The dogs choke on their barking
When they see alligator persons
In the bar head fall
It's a cold night for alligators
When men turn into them in the night
It's a cold night for alligators
It's a cold night for their might
It's a cold night for alligators
Hiding behind the trees and moss
Forever hear the swampers screaming
They forever have lost
It's a cold night for alligators
In the blender
It's a cold night for alligators
A perfect monster has no end
darth babis pretty much every second line is wrong nice work
Βρε μαλακά Μπάμπη ψυχικό σου...
"Swamp birds screaming" is correct along with :"In the blend:" ... The ALIENS
Your lyrics are very wrong
My favorite masterpiece 🌸
one of the best song ever
Rest in Peace roky - thanks for all

Will always have a deep love for Roky.
Need to play this after UT beats Florida!
Actually, I think it's, "The dogs choke on their barking, when they see Alligator person's in the bog, and fog."
There has to be something to this because I just randomly went from watching 3 Danzig videos to here without giving it any thought and saw your comment.

Having great taste in music brought me here..
That is a totally great album.
First song I learned to play on guitar.
Moo
damn, that was a quick 3 minutes. so solid .
Not nearly one of the best tracks on the album, but still a VERY good song. That really says alot about how great this album really is!
Im from the future. What’s the name of the album?
@@CaliFamous 8 months late, I really hope you've found out the name of the album by now, but just in case it's The Evil One.

Great stuff, but the Elevators were in a dimension of their own...literally probably!!
Rip Rocky 💕
Do someone know this song was covered by the Swedish rock band The Hellacopters??
Great!!!
love it!
Butthole Surfers played you while they set up for their last concert. It was the closest to your rock that I got to rock. 🤟
Aye, great cover
It's a cold night for alligators
I love Winonas Big Brown Beaver

This is so good! And the album was produced by Stu Cook ! (Creedence Clearwater Revival) /watch?v=Wkq41xriR3g
While Roky wanted to make music, Those around him wanted to make money.
GREAT! from perv
fucking awsome, love from sweden
sounds like its 1974!..
Bad Ass!
Alligator-persons
I always thought The Butthole Surfers should have covered this, with Paul singing. Gibby can just play rythym guitar or something.
Aitor me enseñó esta canción.
Fucking Great!
@fingernegl I second that!
¿Petter Capussotto?
Ditto, lady.
Anyone have the lyrics to this? My hearing is really bad, and I can't find them anywhere. (Google included.)
You could try turning the volume up, my dude
💔💔💔💔💔💔
is roky still alive?
Roky \m/
Not bad, not bad at all.
@eethomasf32 hm????
don't blame roky
The fact that the Hellacopters covered this makes it infinitely more awesome.
aligator persons in the bog? "It's a cold night for aligators when men turn into them in the night" sound like reptoids to me.
Sean Malto
Sean Eaton
nuts are for squirrels..why are you here?
hahahahahahahaha
This song is based on a true story. I wear a tin foil hat to protect myself from aliens mind-control. You should too.
No u shouldn’t , that’s crazy
