Sadly The Stranglers will never recover from the loss of Dave Greenfield. How do you replace such a great keyboard player? RIP Dave and condolences to your family, friends and the band of course.
@@stephielulu9096 Yup, the "No Hugh No Stranglers" brigade are quite sad, best ignored. However, with only JJ left from the 1975-1990 era perhaps it's time to just clear up any remaining contracts and let that be that!
My fav. Dave Greenfield song. Thanks for posting.Dave playing Genetix in his finest hour.what a performance from the mighty stranglers.Dave you were a musical Genius and you will be sorely missed.thankyou so much for the great music you have wrote and played for us all in the last 45 years.RIP my friend.😢💔
Being a fan of The Stranglers is great - you can replay JJ's bass lines in your head all day long free of charge! This song captures The Stranglers at their very best IMO with everyone making such a fantastic contribution to the song
Thanks to stranglerism, I showed brilliant at an exam over biology .Not knowing too accurately what all this was about, being questioned about genetix, I merely sang the finale ov this tune (with the Mendel laws, and the correlative proportions ov ..., don't forget Hugh Cornwell is a master in genetic engineering ), and won the party . The examinator seemed just a bit surprised that I did interprate this in a great mass way . Strangler power always triumphs !
you kidding. is it true story? Reminds me of my brother who took excellent score in italian test when he literally quoted word by word the "CCCP fedeli alla linea" manifesto which states "rather than discotheque we prefer mausoleums rather than break dance we prefer the change of the guard etc.etc.". The teacher was so enthusiastic. LOL
fabulous., the Stranglers were in the late 70s and early 80s an adventerous and dynamic band. Raven what an album, many tracks were majestic and enthralling
Haven’t listened to this in a while and even more poignant with the sad passing of Jet Black. It has to be said Dave was number 1 keyboard player and JJ is number 1 bass player even after all these years. Genetix is such a great song for the stranglers to play live.
I was a fan from the start and this was the first time I saw the band live at Hammersmith Apollo in 2010 and in 2018 going to see the band at g live in march ,
I've always been more of a Hugh fan since they split but they sound better than ever here. I like a band that sticks to the script as in replicating the songs faithfully and they've done a good job here

The second law of free assortment States that in a cross involving One pair of alternative characteristics, The characteristics will segregate In the second filial generation, In the relative proportions of 9, 3, 3, 1." Now that we've got that sussed is there any chance we could clone a new Dave?

RIP Dave Greenfield. He was an immense talent.
Keep all of the lanterns burning for a ship to pass in the night... Dave and Jet Thank you for so many years.
We'll never hear this live again. RIP Dave Greenfield.
So sad,I don't understand how they can still tour
Happy birthday Dave
Jet is killing it! I always loved this structure of this song. Bass is killer, the ending lyrics is brilliant!
Fantastic song

And the loss of a great and humble man. A black day indeed.
You can't. That's it now 🥺

R I P Dave Greenfield, a genius in our time .
RIP Dave, you magnificent demon of the keyboards!

A masterpiece of a song.
Great to see Dave sing one live for a change. I know he sang on the original song but the keyboard wizard needs more recognition than he gets.
RIP Dave, Genetics is one of my favourite songs
There's nothing to compare with this... Hard to take in we'll never get the chance to see this live again... RIP Dave.. Thanks for the music..
There was and much better. Pre 1990.
One of my favourite Stranglers songs, RIP Dave Greenfield...

best band ever
JJ giving Dave the nod at the end there, fantastic!
Words cannot descibe how much I have adored this ban for over 30 years.
Pure Gold - you never hear a band this inventive these days.
3 mins 8 seconds and Jean Jaques Burnel proves he's the best bass player around. Great song, great band !
still gives me goosebumps to this day
R.I.P. Dave. Love you 🐀🖤
Dave Greenfield, the voice of an angel,...... of Death ! ......,fantastic he put the sin into sinister !

Oh my god, that was fucking brilliant

Oh Yes Dave ! ....what an incredible song with all these completely unbelievable different instrument parts coming together.
Four experts in their own way - The Stranglers have that "togetherness" that many bands can only aspire to.
I was a fan from the start and this was the first time I saw the band live at Hammersmith Apollo in 2010 and in 2018 going to see the band at g live in march ,
Awesome piece from an awesome album.
Brilliant, superb, unique, fantastique !!!!!!!!!!!!
.Terrific. Is there any other bad that could make up a song like this?
RIP Dave
OK..... I'm one of the never got over Hugh brigade but I REALLY enjoyed that and fair play to Baz he did that brilliantly not mention Dave, Jet and JJ
+nicky tanner ...yeh, second al of that.
Me too
Utterly brilliant.
This was genius by the true Keyboard Wizard.
One day I'll master this drum sequence all the way through.
The main man ... Brian Duffy... heartfelt thanks to him for being the rock behind the best
Brilliant jazz drumming by Jet Black..
Amazing bass..
Sublime keyboards with malevolent singing thrown in for free.
How good are they?
Amazing thanks for posting
I always looked at this as Dave doing his bit for Prog rock... I mean he was the keyboard player in Rusty Butler... search that very interesting
This is great...
love the drum intro
Jets blowin abit
hope his health is good.
Excellent. Rip Dave Greenfield
This is brilliant. I was ill withj bronchitis and missed this tour. It hysically hurts to see what I missed but bless you for posting. Brilliant mate.
I've always been more of a Hugh fan since they split but they sound better than ever here. I like a band that sticks to the script as in replicating the songs faithfully and they've done a good job here
That Bass STILL Gives me the shivers & I'm a lead guitarist lol
got to just love it.....

A great lose r.i.p Dave x
Yep top BAND ♥️
1 person disliked this? Hugh man - give it UP!
Hugh Cornwell sadly is a bitter old bastard these days due to the fact the Stranglers have gone for nearly 25 years without him!
+bingoace Wasn't that a joke about Hugh? and anyway Hugh was also a bitter young bastard!!!!!!
nicky tanner - yeah it was a joke!
Jet Black legend RIP

Shit hot!
This gives Sewer a run for it's money
And that is impossible!
I wish Mæstro Greenfield had sung more. No one else could have done what he did.
He was fuckin great. Even better than Ray Manzerak. RIP Dave 🖤
Yeah he's not bad is he?

Like it or no, Hugh was a big loss
Gene regulation.
Nice one, don't bother showing JJ's bass solo which is the whole fucking point of the song
Just can't watch the great band with the imposter of a front man ... ( Appalling singer too ! )
Bald clown not stranglers
dave...my total hero in black x
