The Real Willie Weathers is named Michael Black. He went on to have a short Stint in The NFL. For those of you wondering why they didn't use the real Inmates name was to protect the identity and life of inmates after they got released.
@@MohamedAli-xu3uw Idk. The coach didn't want to give out there real info to protect the players. He wanted to make sure that they past stay in the past.
I was hoping someone else would see that too. Just got done watching the movie and wildly enough he wasn't even mentioned. Hard clip to find though. Amazing change he made though.
I agree. Although, this is based on a true story, so I think in real life, the real world Mrs. Weathers probably did disown Willie for real, and bailed out on him. Jokes on her, though, because he went on to play football for a boarding school, while she likely found another abusive relationship to be in, and likely allowed for Willie's brother to become a member of the 88 Gang. Whatever happened, Willie turned out better than she did, I'm sure.
@@FANOFWAR34 This movie was supposed to be based on a true story, and a lot of the characters in this were real people, so IDK for sure. Even if they were fake, gangs are real, and I think they actually are accurately portrayed in this movie. So even if Willie's little brother didn't actually join the 88's, he still most likely got involved with a gang. It's sad, too, because a lot of these gang members who started as kids are pride-fighting before they even truly understand right from wrong. Not helping is their drug addict/alcoholic parents who are abusive, or their neighbors willing to fire an illegally possessed firearm at a random guy walking down the street just for giggles.
@@nascarfanatic2425 oh yeah, no question at all that they were involved with gangs and everything. after doing a bit of research it seems that “88s” and “95s” were just made up for the purpose of the movie. IRL they were probably in crips/bloods, or a smaller subset of rival gangs

That father had two choices. Either try to embrace the boy his daughter liked. Or try to keep them apart. But where there is a will there is a way. I am glad he took her to the game so they could both see how much Willie had changed

Yup
Really?

It gave me chills and respect to him.

Way to contribute to protecting the identity of Michael Black ,,,, oh wait was I supposed to know that was him?? oops...
Love how he just gets away with murdering that guy.
@@ThinkPIONEERing That info is already out there idiot lol
Who the hell is chopping onions in here?? Dagnabbit !!
Dwayne Johnson was fantastic in this movie.
But for just a few brief seconds (@ 2:15), The Rock made a powerful appearance.
I guess it would have caused some copyright issues if he’d come out with, “and you will LAYETH THE SMACKETH DOWN on their candy asses!!”
For those of you that never knew, the real Sean Porter is the white man sitting right there at 0:30, The Rock’s character

Wow really!
Oh snap good eye
this scene made me cry :( the power of change inside :)
You know what would’ve made this scene better, had willie’s mom, who had all but disowned him in the beginning, showed up with his brother.
Here in 2021
