Sy Senior site Engineer dr KL yg keje dkt site Sg lebih 3 tahun lepas MCO VTL daily in out Sg pakai moto. Bangun 6am smpi site Sg by 7am..5pm leave site dlm Sg and smpi rumah by 6pm. Sblm ni keje dkt site construction KL tapi dgn salary yg jauh beza. Weekends are off jd able to return back to KL by moto sbb nk avoid kulai-yong peng jem...Friday after work is straight back to KL Damansara for family weekend time. Sunday evening back to gelang patah. Sy sewa rumah kampung melayu jadi murah skit..sebilik max 400rm..Telco dlm sg pon pakai Umobile free roaming je jadi xpayah amik pakej Singtel, starhub ke pepe...lgpon Sg offices Ade free Wifi line dn ramai keje site utilise Whatsapp call je...sejak masuk SG, jarang sentuh makanan SG ke public transport SG sbb naik moto kecuali kalo company Singapore belanja. Setiap hari akan tapau kt warung ke masak sblm masuk sg so very cost saving. Petrol pon isi dekat msia. Just pay 4sgd autopas masuk sg keluar sg sehari je. Keje pon 5 days 2 days rest jadi sempat balik KL jumaat petang. 1 bulan expenditure travel in out sg include makan (200-300rm), rental(400rm), petrol (240rm) dn full amount autopass (80sgd) lebih kurang rm1.2-1.3k expenditure je...lain bole buat saving simpanan utk bawak balik KL siap investment dlm ASB, Emas dn KWSP utk masa depan famili....Jadi dgn contoh hasben runsgd gaji 5k sgd dgn famili outstation dh tentu lebih dari cukup utk family skali anak hidup atas comfort zone. Utk sesiape budak msian yg duk dlm sg, tentu expenditure dia confim lagi tinggi sbb makan, hidup, travel dlm sg....

PJ born and raised, but been in SG for 6 years. White collar and worked in KL for first couple of years.
It’s true, working here has its merits - higher purchasing power equals better quality of living. You’ll be able to afford nicer goods and more importantly more nutritious food. Take home pay is definitely more than KL, with its low taxes and generally low daily spendings.
Only cons are expensive private housing (HDB is accessible but that’s another topic for another day) and car ownership - which I think is highly unnecessary with the amazing public transport infra (also no more jams!) and availability of Grab.
But when you start having kids, the dynamics start to tilt. This is just the POV of a middle class white collar single.

I saved RM450,000 within 2 years as a Big 4 manager in Singapore during my early 30s. I could have saved even more if I hadn’t lived just 15 minutes from the office or spent recklessly on food and other things-honestly, I spent way more than my Singaporean colleagues. You’d never save RM450,000 working in Kuala Lumpur unless you're a politician.

    Another factor is TAX rate.
As an above average salaried working adult, engineers/finance/accountant etc..
Malaysia: Earns RM8k per month. Whatever more than 8k, it is taxed at a staggering 25%.
SG: Similarly, earning 4k SGD per month, it is taxed at 7%

    • @reeeyou
      @reeeyou หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yea but actually is much lower effective tax rate because first 20k not taxable.
First year is rough because it's flat 15-24% tax rate becos considered non-resident. But after that, you follow the tax resident tiers. Which it's pretty much usually tiered up to 2-3.5% for average earners of up to 30-40k/year which is translated to 0.6% to 1.375% effective tax rate (percentage of overall income).

Great video, really breaks down the financials and lifestyle differences! I've been thinking about this move myself, and your points about the cost of living and career growth in Singapore are super insightful. However, the property and car ownership restrictions in Singapore are a bit of a deal-breaker for me, especially if you're not a PR. Also, the work culture sounds intense - it's something to really consider if you value a more relaxed lifestyle like we often have in Malaysia. Thanks for highlighting the pros and cons, definitely food for thought

No if you have family and with a a child with PR status and to rent a house, you need to have salary minimum SGD 6K above.

You lucky you can still afford a meal in Malaysia due to the exchange rate back in Malaysia many can't even afford 3 meals a day due to very high cost of living now from food, transportation and accommodations. You can still find S$3.50 a meal in Singapore but in Malaysia it is at least rm15. Plus they have retirement funds to fall back on. What have you if you can save which u know most arrogant Malaysian would rather spend it on a LV. Bags. Singaporeans always plan no matter how poor they still can afford a roof. How many Malaysians like you can? Still got the audacity to make such a childish statement about them. Pathetic

If you can eat ur breakfast in JB, and dinner in JB, you only need to eat in SG (or if u dabao from Malaysia for lunch its even cheaper).. but you sacrifice in travel time and maybe less sleep and less free time after work. How can an Account Executive work in SG with so low salary? You wouldn't be qualify to get a Employment Pass. I think you should get more information before doing this video.

    • @tinyelysium3706

I earn around $3.1k/month, and it’s possible to get an Employment Pass, only if working for an SME with fewer than 10 employees (I managed to get one with my current salary, and I work in a role similar to the one mentioned in the video). This video seems to provide correct information in my opinion lol.

If u have family, living in Malaysia is way better. U be able to effort a car, a home aka depending on your income. Most important thing is u have a way more flexible life compare to sg.
Your life in sg will flip upside down when u have family and at some point in life where travelling is no longer a tool to impress your surrounding, x3 worth less and u will stuck in a gap between sg or Malaysia, this is where the Singapore government come up with some policy to gaslighting u. Talking about 👿😂😂😂
