Oooh, the magic pants pattern! This may have broken my sewing slump. I've had so.... much... weight-fluctuation this year, but I'm so tired of making pants with bunched elastic. I've been on a hunt for pants with tabs, and I think these are the ones
Thank you! When you sew them on, just put the tab inside the buckle without any tightening, let`s say in 'a relaxed state', and then if a client needs tightening he pulls them a bit on both sides (and hopefully relaxes them again at the end of the day).
Thank for this tutorial. I am currectly finishing a linen pleated trouser with my side tabs. My first time making and (soon) using side tabs so I am excited to try them out. Cheers!
neat and perfect congrats!!!!! please do a sew along for a zipper. there are so many ways i saw zippers sewn on trowsers but there was only one video for bespoke tailoring i really could follow and hat a neat finish to it, but it is deleted. is there a specific way to sew zippers on bespoke trowsers?
Thank you for the feedback. 🙌🏻 The principle of making a fly is basically the same for jeans and for tailored trousers, only the complexity and a way of finishing differes. DM me for the fly tutorial.
Great clarity and useful too. Have a question. Nowadays I find an elastic adjustable waist in readymade trousers. How would you compare that to this kind of buckle adjuster? Thanks.
Hi, thank you for the question. Trousers with half-elasticated waistband are usually called 'Yoga Pants\Trousers'. They may have a cut and all the attributes nd finishing of classical trousers but the back part of waistband is made with elastic to fit most waists without any additional help like side-adjusters (unlike stiffer classical waistbands that sometimes have to be tightened with belt or adjusters\tabs). Sometimes such trousers go with beltloops. But if you have elastic waistband, there is no need in adding side-adjusters beacause they will be literally pointless, the ribon does all the work.
Hi, I usually buy them in bulk at local online stroes, just google: "Two Slider Buckle" or "Double Slider Buckle" and find the vendor that is the most suitable for you shipping-wise.
Hi, thank you! I use either Japanese Jinbutsu or cheap Panda soapy-chalk. In videos I mostly use Panda because it is the most contrast one and very visbile on camera.
@@arlenemurphy804 Thank you, a new video is coming up 😉 It is a 'capless' thimble by Japanese brand 'Tulip', look it up. They are not very expensive but quality is great.
@@arlenemurphy804 wow, that is amazing! I hope I will be able to do this at 80 😊 Also, try looking into soft, ergonomical thimbles by 'Prym'. They go with caps though, but this kind could be more gentle on your fingers than a full metal one.
It is non fusible interlining of medium stifness. You can use fusible one if you want. If you can`t find non fusible one, you can take a piece of lining and heavily starch it (with regular or spray starch) it should be close in stifness to the interlining. And whenever you are at a sewing store, buy small amounts (0.5 meter\yard) of different non fusible interlinings to find the one you like. For this waistband I used canvas (220 grams per meter)

Thank you. You could, yes. So, the only things is that you'll get two vertical row of stitching on the inside of your wasitband (giving that all the rest you will slipstich).
Your teaching is so good 😊, easy to understand, clear video and clear sound…thanks for sharing 🙏🏽 I want to participate in one of your classes, how can I get in?
Great question. Mostly, I`m just showing off. Just kidding :) 1. The video is the part of the course where we haven't used a single fusible, just for the sake of showing this type of technology & finishing. It is always easier to switch to the fusible technology one with this information, than the other way around. 2. The non-fusible I'm using is rather stiff, so it allows me to use it as a guideline for turning the edges, which is convenient and because of its stiffness the finished edges will stay sharp and crisp. 3. It is totally okay to fuse some small and medium parts of the garment if you find it more convenient. Honestly, there is not so much of a difference, just a matter of style and preference.
Yes, I of course, I talked about it in the video on 10:10. You can make it fully handfinished, fully machined or combined: the vertical seam is machined and all the rest is handfinished.
Thank you so very much!! Can you do a template on the others and a tutorial. The tutorial is so helpful as it is my favourite type of trousers. I’m a beginner, just start sewing 4 weeks ago!!

There is also an option to put a double-sided tab (like on waistcoats) at the back of the trousers, above the center back seam.
Hi! Beautiful video and instructions!
A question: how do you know how much the side tab should be tightened first when sewing it on the trouser?
Thank you!
