Great videos! 30 years ago I used Access quite a bit. In that program I was familiar with creating and setting up a relational database. My job responsibilities changed over the years where I did not work with database design. Now I am 70 and retired. I just want to use LibreOffice Base to create a personal database to track things for our local church. LibreOffice is very similar to Access. However, I have found there are some differences in HOW to accomplish the same things, but using different methods. Your videos are REALLY helpful in noting HOW to set things up in LibreOffice Base. And you are a good teacher.
I am going to spend time watching as many as I can. It will save me a lot of "Head Scratching" as I get back into database work. THANKS!

These videos are super handy. I run a shop and after tons of searching I could only find one software that could manage all the data I needed to keep track of. But, unfortunately, it was $1,100 a month and you had to take training courses to even be able to use it. It's so busy at my shop I made it through one training and had to quit five seconds into every other attempt. None of my guys could even attempt it because we ALWAYS got swamped at the times they had the training sessions. Also, while I got a lot out of that 1100 a month, my shop just doesn't make enough money to pay that bill. So.. I was back to using 50 lbs of note cards. I think Base could really be the solution I was looking for.

I am enjoying these LiberOffice videos of yours. In a previous life I did some extensive programming in MS Access but haven't done any in several years. I decided it would be fun to do some in LibreBase because if I wanted to distribute them they would be free instead of the customer having to purchase MS Office. The similarities between the two are very close but using your videos to reacquaint myself with the methods is very helpful. Right now I'm just doing this for fun though. Thanks for the time you spend to do these!

Thank you so much for this series! I've found your explanations to be incredibly clear and have gotten from having absolutely no idea how to use a database to having a solid understanding of the basics. I would love to learn more, and your mention at the end about queries sounds like it'll definitely be helpful. My main issue at the moment is that one of my fields needs to be a box of text - I want to capture the different art and writing projects people are working on and would like to capture a title (no problem given what you've shown me here) and a synopsis. The problem I'm having is that, now that I've made my synopsis box multiple lines deep (so a more or less square box), there is no text wrapping and the text appears half way down the box. How do I fix that? And after that I would at some point like to know how to integrate a form like this onto my web site, and to know what each of the different table options does, so that's my wish list! Thank you again for making these and have a great day!

Hello, thanks for the video. I have a question, Is there a way make inserts, updates and deletes on relational tables? for example, in two tables, connected by a foreign key.

The answer to your question is "yes." I've done things like that in Microsoft Access a few years ago, and I know that LibreOffice Base has that functionality as well, although I couldn't walk you through it step-by-step off the top of my head right now.

Hi, thanks for the great videos.
Is it possible to export a database that can be used with all the functionality but in its own environment?

Hi! I am trying out LibreOffice Base to keep track all the members in our club. Now, I cannot figure out how to input DMS Coordinates in the table. Please help? Thanks.

The more authoritative I'm speaking and the more step-by-step/foolproof the video is, the longer it takes to plan out and make, especially when we're talking about software that I don't necessarily use every day. Still, I enjoyed making these, and I haven't forgotten about the possibility of making more. Feel free to subscribe!
