When vergil said "if i beat nero" I laughed because I could see the buster flashbacks playing across dante's face.

Except his Devil Bringer and DT are significantly weaker to compensate for the existence of breakers
ShimyIa1 no it’s not his dt is way stronger but every enemy in game is as well so it balanced out
@@RhynnMedia Yeah it's common syndrome in video games to just buff everything in case something overpowers others, it's often the same thing for fighting games. some characters becomes op? Everyone gets stronger to compensate.
this fight is so much fun on DMD, Vergil is full of things for you to show off:
-parrying his swords
-parrying one his actual attacks which stagers him
-grabbing him off the air with nero (or royal release with dante)
-doing royal guards or tabble hopper with nero on his judgment cuts.
All of this while he does a bunch of relentless attacks that deal insane damage, it's super engaging.

Honestly I kinda wish more action game do these kinds of things. Like make it hard sure but give the boss parry timing, guard timing and all those good shits. Let the player's skill show through instead of just dodge, hit a hp sponge.
How come I don't see Table Hopper more often? I've recently started using it against Cavalier, and it's great. You can Knuckle during it, and it builds DT at a decent rate. Why don't people use it on Vergil?
I suppose the most logical reason is bc people don't like dodging and just want to always attack/be on the offensive, which I understand. But I like using. It looks pretty damn cool, haha.

Fun fact, summons swords can be sent back at him. So when he does the summon sword rush attack. You can use Payline to deflect it all back at him. You can also use Table Hopper to avoid Judgment Cut End.
Or Shuffle for JCE. Its safer
The timing on Judgement Cut End is hell to get down though, when I'm actually TRYING to win I just run.
@@_doop8257 you can also activate Devil Trigger at the start of JCE to negate its damage
@@AlaskanGhost if you really wanna Table Hop JCE, shuffle as soon as you see the flash of light from the Yamato then dodge.
You can just use a normal roll as well. Or you could just activate DT and abuse those I frames

Look at Dante, and even V. Their kits come with everything ready to use, at any point in combat. Whereas with Nero, it's like "OH, I want to be able to ____ this enemy, but I can't, bc I already used it earlier".
I hate that feeling. I just don't like a big part of Nero's toolkit relying on consumables (the Devil Breakers).
Jayden Yep, And the one thing they could’ve done to make it way more fun is to have utilized the D-Pad for switching between them. And make it an upgrade, where Nico creates a tool-belt that at first allows you to switch between one, and then upgrade it to be able to at least switch between 3, MAYBE 4. Can you imagine the creative combos you could do? I know it sounds kinda broken and OP, but look at Dante! He has one move that can kill DMD Vergil in less than 15 seconds!
If I had to think of a way they could balance it, just make it so that he has a short animation where he switches them either in the air or on the ground. But while in DT, he switches. Them instantly.
He really used the "going to the shop" tactic real early on.

I just beat Vergil without taking any damage for the first time just the other day... it wasn't on DMD but hey, it's a start.
Nicely done! I just beat Bloody Palace with Dante last night. Yes, I used Faust Hat from stage 90 and up, but it's the first BP I've EVER completed, so I'm happy, and like u said, it's a start! Now I plan to do it without Faust.

I think a cool secret boss wouldve been facing both Dante and Vergil at the same time. Also incredibly difficult.

With those perfect timed evades you are pretty much royal guarding with nero

Damn, that first cutscene where Nero gets his arm back felt so satisfying to see during my first playthrough. This game really took me on a roller coaster of emotions.

Interesting fun fact of basically all these moves you can table hopper and also the summon swords you can just knuckle bringer away even while in air taunt , even ground taunting you can knuckle bringer the timing is a bit more harsh and sensitive then exceed but when you do use it your style rank goes up more .

This is my favorite way to fight Vergil. Just you and me no gimmicks just my power against yours. I do the same with Dante DSD vs Vergil & Yamato. It just seems like the true canon way you know?

@@AlaskanGhost I believe "DDT" is a reference to a famous wrestlers signature move. It's basically what Nero does to Vergil when he grabs/busters him or of the air.
This is probably the closest I get to looking like your gameplay, very similar (but only sometimes, still not consistent) I still take a lot of damage but I do look like this, only against Vergil tho. His boss fights I could play for eternity

I'm curious , how do you manage to string combos together so smoothly?
I've memorized almost every move in the game, but it always looks a bit clunky when I try to string stuff together.
Is it just muscle memory or?
In my own experience, a good part of it is indeed muscle memory, along with creativity. And of course, practice.
He definitely tinkered with his button layout too. I need to do the same. Trigger instead of square for Blue Rose makes way too much sense
@@noble0155 Put it into the R2 button since my second playthrough personally. Not sure why it isn't the standard layout for Nero, its just plain better

The best part of a DMD fight with Vergil without Breakers is that you get pace the fight in a way where you get to hear the Silver Bullet vocals kick in long enough that you actually enjoy it. In Normal or SoS, when the Double Buster happens, Vergil is low enough that he either dies or dies too quickly that you don't get to actually enjoy when the vocals of Silver Bullet get triggered.
I think my main hurdle in DMC 5 is the exceed system with Nero. I just can't find out the right timing with the attacks. If I can get over that, I'll probably be able to beat Bloody Palace with the three stooges

Kinda makes sense for Vergil since he probably feels guilty for ripping his son's arm off. A little "Your arm.." line from Dante would've been pretty cool though

What bothers me is that if you see closely, vergil actually rips himself apart when he taking the Yamato from his in the buster animation, in dmc3 when vergil and Dante had the force edge vs rebellion showdown at the end of the game, Dante cuts him clean in half and he is healing while he is getting cut

But question: I, and some of the people in the comments, are wondering why people don't use Table Hopper more often. I know from my own experience that it's a great tool for not just dodging, but also builds DT, and you can even Knuckle during it if your timing is right, allowing the player to get a little extra damage in. And it looks pretty cool, haha.
I use it against Cavalier a lot, but haven't tried implementing it into my Vergil boss fight yet. Is it harder to do against Vergil, or is there a reason why players don't like it? Like maybe it has bad recovery frames or something?
It really depends on who's playing. Some don't use it because you have to be static on the ground, some just don't get the timing down.
I prefer to always stay mobile with Nero so table hopper isn't always available. That added to the fact that I haven't practiced Nero much makes it that I don't land it too often

And the point you made about it being static or only possible on the ground makes sense, bc 90% of the time, you’re safer in the air. I’ve really only used it in the Cavalier fight, and it’s great there, bc you do want to stay grounded a lot of the time, bc he has a lot of attacks that can come out of nowhere and hit you when you’re above him doing an air combo.

I did this not too long ago, but OBS fucked up my recording and it ended up only being like 5FPS. I think you did better though since you dodged and taunted more effectively. That and you were better at killing the doppelganger, I usually just blindfire Color Up shots.
I feel like you and I do similar things, but mine are like a downgrade, I almost always take damage.
Course, you can send Deadweight to fight his dad, and it'll still be Deadweight. Eheheheheh...

this was lowkey coolest part in dmc imo well one of nothing imo beats when you got Alistar in dm1 mostly because i was like 5 and i thought the game was just going to end there lol
