    I'm one of the rabid Warning Army fans from early on and, yes, we are very protective. But I think your comments are fair. Keep in mind that Pau (drummer and primary song writer) only started writing original songs when she was 13 and the XXI CB album was released a month after she turned 15. There's not a bad song on the album and the themes are remarkably mature for 2 young teens and a pre-teen (Ale was barely 12 when they were recording) -- domestic violence, addiction, broken hearts, social behavior, personal redemption. Not a bad start. I'm really looking forward to the new album.

      Agree, I’m from the RR era of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Police, Cars, KISS, Rush, U2, Boston, Styx, Eagles, Queen, Heart, Pat Benatar, Fleetwood Mac, Chicago, AC/DC, Phil Collins, Steely Dan, Journey etc. so this is probably not in this genre but I’m amazed at what these teens have produced musically and lyrically. The more I listen he more I appreciate and enjoy listening to them.

    I'm one of the hard core TW fans you're refering to here. I'm not going to post any hateful comments, though, beacause I can tell that you've realized that this band is something else than 99% of everything else out there ! If you are into rock music just the slightest bit, you don't have to listen twice to realize that these sisters are VERY talanted ! And even if I know they are amazing, they still manage to surprise me, to exceed my hingh expectations ! To be able to create music of this caliber at this young ages that they do, is really mindblowing ! You must keep in mind that they are doing it ALL by them selfes ! The lyrics, the music, the arrangements, the playing, the singing, ALL of it ! And they are 13, 16 and 18 years old !! This is talent ! And even though 21 CB is a great album, I know that the new album "QOTMS" coming at the end of this year, will be even greater ! I had high expectations, but still was very, surprised when I heard "Dust to dust" ! They are taking their music to a even higher level here and I'm sure you'll love it too ! These young ladies have a very bright future ahead of them, and it will be very exciting to follow them on their jourey to stardom ! Last year I traveled from Sweden where I live, to Monterrey Mexico to watch them perform live at the MOA rock festival. It was amazing ! This january I'm going to LA to watch them again, this time at the legendary Whisky A Go Go ! It's a lot of traveling, but it's so worth it ! You don't get the chance to see talent such as this very often !

    Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment on XXICB. Good to see you like it and feel like it may grow on you more as you hear it more, just like Survive. You're doing yourself a disservice though by not watching some of their live shows / performances that are rather easy to find with a little bit of querying. In fact, check out The Warning Live from the Dakota in January of this year. An absolute gem of a live show with the amplitude and energy off the charts. They continue to grow and progress and their sound is much more impactful when you watch them play live.
    And yes, the lyrics may be a bit "simple" or "on the nose" (not familiar with that British colloquialism but I think I get what you're trying to say), but keep in mind most of this record was written by Paulina when she was probably 13 or 14 and Dany was I think 16, maybe? I'm sure others have mentioned this in comments below, but just wanted to point that out as you may need to grade on a curve in that regard, as I've never heard of any rock band that young writing fairly mature lyrics on content that is certainly mature for early teenagers.
    As you'll eventually see with Dust to Dust, they've taken another huge leap forward in both their musical expression and technical proficiency but also have moved in a more advanced stage of lyric writing as their English vocabulary has surely expanded and now their linguistic expertise is catching up to their musical proficiency. I look forward to seeing your face when you see how well Paulina, the drummer, sings D2D. Cheers mate! \m/

    These girls have grown up in front of a lot of us. Rightly or wrongly their fans have a sense of ownership and most definitely intense protectiveness towards the band. Generally, real criticism is welcomed, although there are die-hards. We want them to get better too. Everybody has a different favourite from XXI Blood, although Survive is probably the most popular, even if it didn't sound great on disc. Dull Knives is probably where you want to go next. It hasn't been released on an album yet, but has been played live quite a lot.

    Nice! I'm going to see them at a private show, in January, with a bunch of fellow, rabid fans. I said that so you'll know what happened to me if I stop commenting after that. At any rate, I understand where you are coming from about the lyrics. When I first got XXICB, I felt the lyrics were a little sophomoric. They were kids, and... English is their second language. I quickly, and completely, lost that initial feeling. Now I just marvell at what is being done. When I was their age, I'd been playing guitar for 10 years, and all I could do was play standing up, let alone sing too. You are showing some of the initial symptoms of The Warning addiction. Don't worry, it doesn't hurt. Thank you for the video!

      I would agree lyrics are their weakest point. But they are so young, the bones are there, experience will flesh them out. Musicianship, stage presence, vocals and work ethic are already there, for the most part. All they need is a little seasoning.

    I'd have to agree with A Romer. They are REALLY GOOD on stage. It would be difficult, without guidance, to select one of the "decent recorded" videos. It's a long one, but "1st Night Opening For the killers in Monterrey" is a really good one. Or any of the songs taken from the Hell and Heaven Festival. "Dull Knives" is a particular rocker. by the way, they close with a stellar rendition of "Survive", which Pau (pronounced pow), plays through with a big chunk of her finger having been painfully gouged out during the previous song, "Dull Knives", which is also to be on the new album. The album is titled, "QOTMS"- Queen Of The Murder Scene.
    The lyrics to "Dull Knives" are pretty solid.. Dark, but solid. They can be found online. Once you know them, the song goes from "Cool" to "WTF!?!! That was AWESOME!" At least that was my experience.

    I appreciate hearing an honest unbiased opinion. I was a little skeptical at first. I started watching their covers, then listened to some of their XXICB album on Spotify. At first, I thought, "this isn't bad", and I wondered if I was giving them extra credit for their ages. Eventually, I realized, I just really enjoy their music, and I love watching them perform. There are a lot of subtle intricacies in their music that I didn't catch the first dozen times I listened. When you get sucked in a little further, and the addiction starts, as some of the other TWA members have mentioned, you will see how much they have grown and how far they have come in just the last 3 or 4 years. Then consider their ages, and their work ethic, you can see they have real potential to reach great heights. I respect your opinion, and I see where you are coming from. As others have said, I think you will enjoy Dull Knives, which you can see live performances of now, and Dust to Dust live, which I'm sure will be out there soon. I'm not going to tell you you'll be blown away, but I think you will enjoy them, whether you post a review or not. No need to fear the TWA. Nicest bunch of fellas you could ever hope to meet.

    • @CrowboroughGuitarTuition
      @CrowboroughGuitarTuition  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks. I'm enjoying it too. The issue with a reaction vid is that you only get that initial 1st impression so don't see stuff grow on someone. Which is basically what happened with Survive. I enjoyed it first time but not blown away. But the more I watched it the more I appreciated it. Sometimes the stuff that doesn't grab you first time ends up being some of your favourite stuff.

      @@CrowboroughGuitarTuition I agree. Over the years, I've been grabbed on first listen on several songs. After 6 months, never played them again. Had a roommate in school that played Metallica Ride the Lightning every night. Nice and honest review. Laughing a bit when listen to your review. Yes, The Warning Army might be particular protective about the group and that goes from how close the group and their family/manager team have been to the first fans that paid attention to their music in very young ages and then have followed them (though they still are very young) up until now. They have developed their sound quite a bit. The video for Dust to Dust is not out, and that might take quite a while as they are an indie band with scarce resources. The day you finally listen to it you will be surprised to see which direction they are heading. They have three heavier song with Copper Bullet, Dull Knives and now Dust to Dust. The lyrics on these three songs are far from predictable. Keep going.

    Warning Fan here and I agree with a lot of what you said. I also had a bit of an issue with "on the nose" lyrics and social commentary, but I realized that its probably due to the Mexican Culture. (not sure if you know that these 3 are Mexican born and raised and English is not their first language) Rock in Latin America was a tradition of being "on the nose" when commenting on society and or politics.

    I really don't understand the point of "reaction" videos. Personally I can't give an honest opinion from the first and only listen. To get the feel/impression of a song I think it needs a chance to soak into your mind and when you feel a need to keep hearing it and get hooked is when you realize what you have. Not trying to piss all over your YT channel but just making a comment. Maybe you should do a video after listening to the whole album a few times. Even as a guy who have taken part in these girls Kickstarter founding, I see a LOT of comments that to me seems to be WAY over the top. westmus I think it's mostly done out of loyalty and standing behind something in support more than just talking them up just for the sake of talking them up. I admit that every song is not gold to everyone but to me they really are. Its really hard to explain and there is a fine line bt being a blind supporter and being a sensible critic I guess. Are they the second coming of the Beatles, Stones, Nirvana, etc.? Who can say? But what they do have is tons and tons of humility, potential, honesty, and above all talent. Admittedly I almost lost the chance of learning all I know about them bc I almost skipped through the ES video but there was something there that kept me coming back to watch/listen again and again. And soon after that I started hearing their original stuff. And soon after that I became a very supportive TW fan. For unknown reasons they have positively influenced my life and I can't explain why. So I really cant quite understand why people want to pick it apart and analyze it all like it's someone's thesis. It's music. And it's very good music. Performed by incredibly genuine, hard working people. So that is what hardcore fans do, protect TW from opinions that are not well placed or formed out of ignorance. I know it sounds like I'm directing this at you but I'm just directing it at your response. No hard feelings bro bc I recognize your name from previous TW videos so I hope I don't offend you. Take care. 🤘🤘🤘

      Casey Morgan, My responce was based on following the girls for a long time and seen the comments written by fans anywhere the band is mentioned. Paul showed in this video very clearly what I tried to explain, when he called the Warning fans for "scary people". It may not help the band if some people feel they get "attacked" by the fans. Rick Toone did suddenly remove the posibility of comments, both on YT and his home page. I wunder if the Warning army became a little to much for him.
      I am also a big fan of the band, but I just try to keep both feet on the ground. People that say something that may not sound super positive about the band are not always wrong. 🤘

We Warning fans are a terrible bunch! hahaha No were not. :)

    • @bramilan
      @bramilan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually think that his reaction is good.
      For one - it is honest. We don't need another addicted fan that praises the band without even trying to figure things out. He is honest and this is the best thing because anyone can always improve, including the best ones.
      Second, I think that the fact he is partially ignoring their ages and their mother tongue despite knowing about it is a good thing: he treats them already as a professional band.
      We, as fans, can't demand people to treat them professionally but when they do, tell them to remember how young they are...
      I think Paul loves the band but has also some critics, and it's ok.
