First pair of nunchuku I handled was the (REALLY HARD) glass nunchuku my cousin's older cousin had. After that, I had the toy nunchuku that came in the toy ninja kits you could find in toy stores. Then I started using my cousin's wooden chucks. Never owned a metal pair. And I always go for the heavier ones. More of a workout to use, more punishment for myself or others if they get hit. I worked everyday at this since Mid May. I did well and was really liking it except I was growing a fear of getting hit in the elbow. Last night I got hit in the elbow again and the wrist and realized I am just to damn old to incur any more pain points in my body. I am dropping it and my nunchucks are gone. I felt working at it helped with upper body stiffness and joint pain. But those whacks are more than I am willing to pay at 70. Thankyou for the good service and being a part of the videos I have watched.
I’m sorry to hear you hurt yourself. Sadly, that happens sometimes with the nunchaku, but I think you are very wise to listen to your body. I’m going to guess that you got pretty good with them over the period of time you practiced and if it was helpful for stiffness, you might want to consider going back to a lighter foam pair. But, you know your body, so I’m sure you are making the best decision for yourself. I really do appreciate you watching my videos. You sound like an awesome individual as well as a kind hearted person to leave a supportive comment like that. Thanks so much and I hope you have a great weekend.

lol thats too funny i have a similar story when i started using metal chucks. one afternoon my sister asked to use the chucks and i said "ok, just dont hit urself!" and she responded with "u dont hit urself!" (what a epic roast) and proceeded to wack herself in the face. luckily not much damage cuz she wasnt doing a full powered swing but she deffinetely learned a lesson haha.
LOL...that's a pretty funny story. Anyone who has been using the chucks for a while has a story to tell. I definitely hit myself quite a few times. Thank you so much for watching and for your story!
Thank you so much William! You are correct...I probably should have shown off more of the octagon pairs we sell. Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment!
I have the wooden octagon with cord. Painted them black and restringed them 25 years ago and never needed or wanted another pair in my life. Good for practicing and striking.
@@pixygnunchaku3494 thank you! Yes, we do ship internationally, but we have to check the laws in each country before shipping anything there. Have a great week!
I just recently bought the .75 dia. Aluminum chunks and they are also weighted just right so I wrapped them in a black tape covering to blunt the edges of the octagon sides so they would not hurt while grip them and the came out excellent and they are the best ones I have ever owned I will send send a photo, they remind me of a blackjack as you grip them, as they are weighted and compact I bought two pair and very satisfied.
That’s awesome! Thank you so much for your support. It sounds like we are both similar in the way that we like to modify our weapons to meet our needs. I hope you are having an excellent weekend!
Hi gang especially Amanda. Fascinating video. I like your honesty with the pros & cons. I learned on a home made pair of cut broom stick, eye hooks & a chain 40 years ago. My favorite pair is the 3rd one you showed. I prefer wood because I do them outside & I feel like I'm kind of bonding with nature. Although the other materials look interesting. I prefer chain over cord because when I do the over the back of the hand tricks the cord feels rather pinchy. I was surprised you didn't pull out any LED pairs. They are a lot of fun to do outside in the dark with no lights on & playing music like Children of the Son or Walking on the moon. Lots of space related music you can dance to with the LEDs. I imagine myself dancing for UFO'S & I swear I actually saw one once. It came towards me from the north. It hovered for a while then did a 90 degree turn to the west & left. I know it wasn't a helicopter because it was silent. However... It could have been a drone. Maybe some benevolent ETs will like my tricks & take me for a ride. Anyway I hope you are all well. Live long, prosper & keep on chucking.
@@Karatemart oh you're welcome. I hope your weekend is also awesome. Thank you for being such a great online store. I know I can rely on you for great products at great prices & excellent customer service. Oh so funny I was looking at my page & I saw one of my nunchucks videos had 1182 views. I was like so excited! I was like OMG how did that happen? I'm guessing maybe you have it on your website. I know you have one of my sword videos on your site & that got a lot of views too. So thanks a bunch for your support too.
Thanks! Dropping $160 on custom made takak toyok, the filipino variant, gotta do it for my school. But these look good. Real good. Training on different lengths and weights is cool. Hard rubber, a material that's very underrated. The smell of rubber police batons, for instance. Its the smell. Smell of victory, frankly. They hurt like hell. Very good production quality on the video, the spokesman is articulate, honest, and to the point. That's professionalism. We'll give 'em a try. Cheap imports on chains: the chain fails, busted property, or flesh. Please, always state the length of chains on every model. Your website is your "face", so to speak. Its important. Tabak toyok has to be rather precise. Thanks, Happy Halloween 2024!
I thought the packaging looked really familiar lol, I bought a pair from you guys about a couple years ago (recommended by Jake Mace). They're the carved dragon ones, they're fun to practice with. I think once I move again I'll have to buy a rattan pair
I agree Jose! Hitting yourself is just part of the learning process when it comes to nunchaku. It teaches you to respect the weapon. Thanks so much for watching!
I love the burnt rattan chucks, I think they give the best combination of speed strength and durability, I've accumulated about 5 pair of them over the years. I'm very eager to try the solid aluminum ones you guys make, I can't wait to bust myself in the elbow with those, lol ! ! !
Those aluminum nunchucks that you guys make yourselves are incredibly nice. 08:27 The problem is that they are way too heavy. I have a suggestion to make them PERFECT 🤯 If you take your beautiful aluminum chucks and hollow it out a little from the bottom so that they still have strength but are a good bit lighter well, I'll tell you what... As a long time "chucker" you would have a real winner on your hands! If you start making them with your perfect rope length I would order them immediately. Give it some thought. I really feel it's something your nunchaku customers would really like because they would be VERY unique in a very saturated market. Take care, -Eric
Thanks Eric! We actually have about 20 different styles of aluminum nunchaku. Some are solid aluminum, but many are hollow. The only ones we don’t have hollow versions of are the hex ones. It could be done, but it would increase the machining time (labor costs) by quite a bit because after they are drilled, they would have to be capped and lathed. I’ll definitely look into it though. Thank you so much for the suggestion! I really appreciate it!
@@Karatemart I like the octagon ones myself and would definitely by a couple pairs because I’ve elevated to using two instead of just one, thus fighting style like Bruce lee, serious.
He goes from the foam nunchucks to the burnt Raton showing a high speed Master skill. Great job, I was doing so good when I was younger but fell out of it just ordered a set but I think I need to order from your company. Plus I want discounts on the open box items you used 😂
My step father designed the perfect chucks... I got it patented, they are aluminum head with oil impregnated brass inner piece ... No bearings at all & perfect movement. No more powdered bearings yet they are chain
I had to practice with them the hard way. we didn't have pads. I had to start from bottom with real ones. I hit myself a few times but I tough it out kept practicing. I'm still pretty good with them today.
@@brianpearson8106 yes, we do Brian! We call it the converta-chucks. Also, the company who manufactures our weapons, Kombativ.com has a few different types including one that transforms from 9 different weapons.
Decided to order a few random items that I received today. First I thought I would give my hardwood nunchucks a break since I'm getting back into it. Ordered the Tiger Rattan Nunchaku. I have to say being used to a heavier Chuck these are perfectly balanced. Lighter but not extremely noticeable difference. Nice bolsters with perfect rivets as I've ordered from another company before and the rivets weren't perfectly seated like these from karate Mart. They just flow and feel very smooth. Also watching another one of your demonstrations I decided to order a star as I have a large knife collection everything from butterfly knives to side open and OTF automatics odd and end items like caltrops. But the Moon Star I have was just cheap Chrome plated some kind of alloy I don't know why I haven't thrown it away which I did when I received the product from your store which is extremely Sharp and a strong heavy metal. Nonetheless great experience I like how you guys go above and beyond showcasing your products on TH-cam. You have a lifelong customer my friend, don't forget about that Batman movie.
Oh wow! Thank you! I really appreciate your support and kind comments. It’s people like you that keep us making the videos. I hope you have an awesome weekend, my friend!
You give off such a great inviting energy I took teakwondo (spelled that wrong probably) as a kid and got good with nunchucks and the teacher gave me hard rubber nunchucks for some reason but I got really lol
i realized the nunchakus are really good on the streets even the foam one in self defense. I especially like the wood ones also good for when your getting jumped
Many many moons ago I learned with the traditional Japanese oak chucks made with the The octagon cut slightly wider at handle and narrowing with the connecting chord being the narrower part of the stick…with a heavy and solid feel special oak wood from Japan..,,,,,and octagonal shape narrows to the connecting chord..very very hard wood with a lot of knots ..needless to say that wood can not be found these days…..but it’s a great idea making them in metal with can be wrapped around in black electrical tape just to make them a less reflective of lights and it’s very true that they are only to be used by those very advanced ..and you have the different types to make learning a lot easier these days…. ….
I remember when i was learning. My foam ones were taken away and real ones (tapered octagonal hardwood with cord) were given to me. Yes i hit myself... Like 3 or 4 times. That's why i was given real ones. You hit yourself and you don't wanna do that again. Quick way to learn not to hit yourself. Then once you get the movements down you learn to keep your eyes forward and not watch the chucks but instinctively know where they are. Then once you got that down you close yoyr eyes or blindfold yourself.
Right now I have the black chain ones with the 2 red stripes at the bottom and i Have the all black nunchucks with black string , and right now I have the white wood wax chain nunchucks on the way
I had bought 2 pair 14" natural Octos and are amazing.. i really prefer the cord because you can Always change cord length.. having longer cord like bruce lee and fighting you want a longer reach ( Not that i encourage Ever fighting ) but as far as more weight to swing it helps, also to shorten them for trick chucks and wrist flips..and mostly impirtant Quiet !! chain just give away your position. But i highly reccomend a 14" pair they do give a great workout..plus being a Drummer helps make drumsticks feel like tooth picks lol. Take care guys ✌
Awesome! Thank you so much for watching! I made this video quickly and didn't really think anyone would watch it, but I'm glad it was helpful for you! Have a great weekend!
4:11 “the way our chucks are kinda organized...” haha sounds like either they aren’t organized too well and they will be re organized soon. Or maybe he just isn’t used to that department/side haha I dont know why I found a CHUCKle out of that but I did haha Thank you so much fir the video by the way. I’m looking to get into some nunchucks. During the lockdown I found and fell in love with martial arts and I lost 100lbs during those months and stopped smoking and live a whole diff lifestyle in a good way thanks to the pandemic. I’m also currently six months into a challenge where I’m exercising every single day for a year. I was a heart patient but through exercise and martial arts (kickboxing, boxing, mma, bjj) I am no longer a heart patient! Anyways thank you for the video. Hope you have a good day! OSS!

Hi there my name is Everett and I'm visually impaired completely and I'm just curious what type of nunchucks does Michelangelo use and you guys have those the wooden ones with the metal chain
Hi Everett! I'm honestly not sure exactly which ones Michelangelo uses, but we have a lot of good wooden ones with metal chains on KarateMart.com. Thank you so much for your question and have a great weekend!
Thank you Jim! I really appreciate that! We do carry some exotic wood nunchaku, but I haven’t seen teakwood in a long time. Hopefully we will carry them again one day. Have a great weekend!
I made a pair out of pvc cold water pipe and cement and they are a bit on the heavy side but usable if i need to use them. I also have plans to make a three section pair from the same material.
This is very cool and all but I just wanted to say that I made a pair of chucks myself today using a stick that I had been using to twirl like a lightsaber but it broke when I hit it a little to hard against a tree so I measured the stick that was left and is cam out to 21 inches and so I cut is at 10 and a half inches and got some rope drilled the holes and threaded it myself using your guys instructions on how to string nunchucks and this is my first pair as well and I wanted to say thanks as I wouldn't have even considered this if it wasn't for you so once again thank you
Excellent! That’s how this entire business started. I didn’t have much to do in Wisconsin, so I started making my own martial arts weapons. Thanks so much for watching! I really appreciate it!
Hi, we do ship outside the United States, but we check the laws in your country before we ship anything there. Please check www.karatemart.com/international for more information. Thank you so much for watching!
I tried going to the website a month ago and buying Ice Dragon nunchucks with grip, however international shipping was not available. I've been checking in for about two months and was wondering when international shipping will be available.
Great question! Sadly, due to all the problems with international shipping since the pandemic began (lost/stolen/damaged packages) and the extra employee hours they take to estimate, check laws in a country and prepare, we discovered we are losing money shipping packages internationally. We continue to test the process regularly in hopes that one day we will be able to do it again. Thanks so much for watching! I really appreciate it!
Cool vid, got yourself a new subscriber.. just correct you with the Rattan it’s a vine not a reed I was in Borneo this year March 2023 they grow in the rainforest up through the tree canopy.. I’ve been using nunchucks for 37yrs I prefer solid wooden ones similar to the ones you had with the grips with good bearings & short chain.. I made my 1st 3 pairs myself out of copper pipes filled with sand & a chain 😂😂 I was to young at the time to legally buy them in the UK you had to be 16 or 18 can’t remember 😂😂..
I've been training with my octogon aluminum chained pair from you guys for about a year. Started with a pair of oak chained ones and became to slow. The aluminum ones are perfect for me now you might scare a few people training with them or accidentally knock yourself but keep training. I can move em around like a pair of foams now and knock a lit cigarette outta the air with a swift uppercut
The best one you have shown were the hard wood ones. I'm looking for some real professional nun-chucks, I looked on amazon and all they have are foam ones, which is very disappointing to someone like me with 30 years experience using nun-chucks. The length is supost to be from your elbow to your wrist, I usually cut the end off to get the right size. I'd rather have the one with a chain with ball bearing swivel. So far, I haven't found any online. I think I got my last pair at the flee market maybe I'll try there. I recommend to go to the library and get a book on how to use them. I would take the wood ones and drill out the end and fill it with lead.
I really appreciate that, Stiles! Thank you so much for your support! Those are both excellent nunchaku to build up your speed and skills with. I hope you are having an excellent week!
Awesome! This is one of my oldest videos, but I’m glad it was still helpful for you. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact our customer service team anytime! I hope you have an excellent week!
I was planning to but the hard rubber ones. Thanks for the review cause they are scared that they might be heavy or something. Cause there scared i might break something in the house. Since it does bend when it gets hit i think i will be safe and i will be able to manage the weight. Thanks
Awesome Joshua! Sorry for the delay in my response. I hope the rubber ones work out for you. They are pretty nice, but I personally prefer the rattan ones. Thanks so much for watching my video!
Have the rattan chucks just like the one you showed...and it is so funny that just listening to the distinct sound they make let is enough to identify em without even seeing the screen😄Wicked distinctive sound when the bearings and chain vibrate the rattan.. especially if ya tap the chucks together..
I absolutely love nunchaku and think they are such a great martial arts weapon, but would I use them for self-defense?…no, there are better self defense weapons out there. As far as rattan goes, it is lightweight and perfect for learning the nunchaku. Thanks so much for watching!
@@Karatemart thank you for replying!!! I appreciate your feedback, but I feel like if you use it the right way it is better than nothing. Like if multiple people are coming at you, it is more better to have this instead of bare hands. Just like bruce lee. Lol.
Quit kung fu when Covid hit but picked up my old foam chucks last week and it was like 4 yrs never past all muscle memory just gotta remember to use my left hand more 🤣
That is a great question! It's been a long time since I've seen bamboo nunchaku, but I imagine they are probably very close in weight to the rattan nunchaku. That is probably the perfect nunchaku to upgrade to after the foam. Thank you so much for watching and for your question!

I was wondering if you have a metal steel/aluminum nunchuk that is mostly hollow, except for the last 4" being solid. The physics of this to me is amazing - light, fast, but having the mass heft where it is needed, at the ends. Mass in the middle or top adds very little leveraged force. Anyways, preferably with aircraft cable connector? I will check you website.
We have a lot of different metal nunchaku on the website, but I don't think any that have only the last 4" being solid. Thank you so much for watching!
I made some chucks out of seasoned palo verde limbs, and Paracord. They Always let me know when i am wrong. With foam, you dont learn as fast how to correct a mistake, because you have no reason to correct a mistake with them.
No chain, no dice. Self defence only. The way I learned... you use the suttle sound of the chain between two pieces of wood to Hypnotise the opponent and if he's NOT smart enough to walk way, watch his eyes, and hit him high to low in the knee.
The honesty you have when talking about these products is what makes me have supreme confidence when shopping at your site. Bravo.

Thanks Kathy! I really hope you have an excellent weekend! Thank you so much for your support!

I started with traditional corded octagonal chucks . Hitting myself helped me feel my mistakes.

Awesome! The waxwood nunchaku are really cool. Hopefully we get them back instock very soon! Thank you so much for watching!

I remember buying nun chucks from superstition mall in az back in the day! good times

Thank you so much! I hope you are having an excellent week!
Thanks Duke! Those nunchaku you learned with sound great! I hope you are having an excellent week!
That’s so true, man! Thanks so much for watching! I really appreciate it!
When I started learning nunchucks, I learned nunchucks with the metal one and I hutmrt myswlf a little bit and got used to it, it was fun to do

Thinking about ordering the black wooden 12" handle with the blue carved dragon connected with a chain for my first pair.
Very nice! I like both of those! Thanks so much for watching my video!
Right now I have the black chain ones with the 2 red stripes at the bottom and i Have the all black nunchucks with black string , and right now I have the white wood wax chain nunchucks on the way
Awesome!

That’s very cool! You must be good! Thanks so much for your support!

Thanks so much for watching!
No chain, no dice. Self defence only. The way I learned... you use the suttle sound of the chain between two pieces of wood to Hypnotise the opponent and if he's NOT smart enough to walk way, watch his eyes, and hit him high to low in the knee.
Thanks so much for watching, Bill! I really appreciate it!
