    I get goosebumps from Jonathan Dunn's 4th loader tune every time. The flashing colors of the border, the drum beats, the synthesizers in action, the beautifully drawn screens. Just proof that computer hardware is a genuine work of art.

    God I love that little SID chip. Bob Yannes was a genius for creating this piece of silicon wizardy and Galway, Hubbard, Tel, Follin etc are his disciples for arranging and programming these incredible tunes. These tracks still make the hairs on my neck stand up even today.

I think the only person here who needs help is you, getting this angry over someone's opinion and don't even deny, you're seething in a public comment section and it's obvious given your language. @PhilMerricks 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@brianstrawberry2116 Actually it sounds much closer to the emulated version on my C64. Did you know that every C64 sounds slightly different, due to the SID chip being manually 'tuned' on the production line before each C64 left the factory?

    • @trixylizard6970
      @trixylizard6970 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PhilMerricks WHAT! No freaking way, I didn't know that! That's like how every of Antoni Stradivarius' violin masterpieces were too, they all had tiny differences owing to the composition of the wood et c (and because it is impossible to create two perfectly identical anythings), which gave them a unique tone and personality. I consider the simile 100% apt, too. This was without doubt the Stradivarius of a revolutionary new era in music creation and, for that matter, human civilization. It still is.

      I visited someone's house in the eighties as a teenager and witnessed the Rambo loading and was totally blown away. I had a ZX Spectrum myself. A couple of years later I borrowed a cassette tape called "Datahits" from someone which had five C64 enhanced tunes on, the first being Rambo loader! Listened to that a lot. I'm not bothered about dislikes left on my uploads because they could be left for many reasons such as they feel the video upload quality is poor (youtubes fault), video too short, too long or simply just down to jealousy that they didn't upload it un-emulated first or even that they don't like the tunes which obviously is not my fault.

    Well bizarrely the newer chips *were* made to improve matters.The 'features' that sid musicians used in tracks such as these loaders exploited bugs in the chip to do things that they weren't meant to do. The 8580 was made to correct the problems/bugs to make them closer to the tech specs which resulted in this change in sound.

    I'm not 100% knowledgeable on this but I think there's at least a couple (of not more) differences between the 6581 & 8580 sid chips. One is the aforementioned digi sound but the second which is probably more relevant here is the filters, I think the bass on the 6581 is a lot fuller sounding compared to the relatively thin sounding 8580 (the one used on your C64C). Bloody amazing tracks irrespective of the chips used though :)

    And if i see the green/pink interference in the brown dithering i feel like am in front a real TV :)

    @zaphod77 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's probably it.
    It has nothing to do with the digi clicks, it's the filters that are very different on the new SID.

    @wubble78 For me it's Loader 4, but the hardest choice for me is between Rambo, Ocean loader 2 & 3, phew it's a tough one to pick :-/

    Quick question:
    Did Martin Galway allow Peter Clarke to remix the Ocean Loader 2 track titling it Ocean Loader 3 (as per these tracks) ?
    only they do sound very similar.

    That's very interesting!
    Trouble is unless i also had the breadbox c64 next to my c64c playing the same tune i will never know the sounding difference as i don't trust the pc emulator game uploads here on youtube, they are never 100% accurate weather it's the sound or speed of play,...have you heard all the Target Renegade c64 music uploads?! They are terrible and sound nothing like the real machines,...emulators just don't do it correctly hence why i started my unemulated channel.

    I'm sure the so called Rambo tune is just the standard first version (second here) but with the timing messed up, captured from an NTSC model with a 60Hz clock instead of a PAL 50Hz?

    • @ZEUSDAZ
      @ZEUSDAZ  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nope, recorded from a PAL 6581 C64c and the Rambo loader was just for that game, the Ocean Loader II is the updated Ocean Loader 1.

    Obviously v5 is my favourite. But this non emulated version sounds almost exactly like my emulated version on here.
    Still it's great to hear them all, the way they're meant to be heard. tips hat*
