One more comment. I laughed out loud when you said they don't like you taking pictures in the main halls. When I was in the printing industry, we had a huge show every year and a mammoth show every four years, at The McCormick Place in Chicago. The Japanese and Chinese were like little ants crawling around and photographing all of our newest technology. I guess it takes one to know one ;-) It used to really tick off the American Manufactures ! Keith
I can not enter it .But I still would like to show our company to you. As the manufacturer for the windows and doors in Foshan city, I hope we can have the chance to show our products next year!
This is GREAT advice. I am new to Amazon and have some experience in internet commerce. My main goal was going to have face to face contact with some vendors and finding sources to find the sources for mfg some product(s). I have not had such good luck with Alibaba in finding these sources. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it. I was also considering the ASD market show in March, but can not really get any straight answers about that either. It sounds like it's more about retail and specialty shops. I sure do miss the days when you could pick up a phone or have a sales rep get back with you. Today's communication can be very slow and in some ways not what it's cracked up to be. . It's like trying to find a vendor in the white pages in times gone by. I'm frustrated has heck. Thanx, Keith Norris aka AmazingKeith. (not feeling so amazing:-)
There is this website called import yeti. You can find out where some large companies are importing their stuff and if a Chinese manufacturer has previously shipped to the US and their volume.
Thank you so much for sharing. These are great tips. I leave next Thursday for the fair and this video has helped me to prepare. You mentioned giving a business card with 2 hands. Can you explain what that means? This is my first trip the China so I’m an extreme newbie.
It's customary in China to give a business card with both hands as a sign of respect. Chinese business cards represent the person to whom you are being introduced. When receiving one, it's polite to study the card for a while and then put it on the table next to you or in a business card case
I have a friend in Shenzhen, she sent me video tonight, there is hardly anyone at the Canton Fair, she said there are more exhitibors than customers and the whole thing feels quite lonely. BTW she's a very successful online seller.
Judging from the strict COVID guidelines, I don't think people are ready for travelling just yet :) We'll definitely see how it goes by the time 2022 rolls around!
Thank you Mike, this was helpful. How long after a trade show in Hong Kong ends do you recommend staying in Hong Kong and / or Mainland China? I'll attend my first trade show this year.
I plan a minimum of 2 weekends in China (so 10 days) and allow 3 or 4 days after to catch up with both suppliers I meet at the fair and ones I arrange with beforehand. - Dave
Again the Canton Fair will come close but online instead! This is great advice. When you worked with a new supplier, it is better to arrange the factory audit to verify the production facilities, human resources, testing equipment, and quality management systems. Hi. Sorry for the late reply. You need to apply for a visa to China first. Then, once you pass the screening process, you'll be given a free entry badge to the fair and you'll be assisted towards further steps.
Keep your badge as you can re-use this badge for future sessions of the show. For a more explicit guide, check out this post by Dave - www.ecomcrew.com/guide-to-visiting-the-canton-fair/

Yes, we were somehow surprised and did not expect such a reaction. 😅

That's nice! But we hope you can still enter the fair so we can easily see what you guys are up to.
