I got big into new age stuff also. I was big into “manifesting” stuff. But then I started getting panic attacks like out of nowhere. One night I was half asleep and turned and right next to my pillow it looked like there was a little creature right next to my head and I woke up and looked and nothing was there. The worst panic attack was so bad I just called out to Jesus and asked him to save me and he did. I promised I would throw out all the new age stuff. And I haven’t had a panic attack since.
What has your family’s response been to your spiritual journey? Since finding Jesus I have turned my back on astrology. I think it keeps people stagnant. How can you change your life if the planets and stars tell you your destiny and you wholly believe it?
Thank God he pulled you out the pits of hell. You know that new age stuff is very evil , please stay far away from it. The devil comes to us as a angel of light,but he's nothing but a liar and the truth ain't in him. Sister am so happy for you Jesus has made you a new creature in Christ. There is nothing better then giving your life to the Lord I scream to the top of my lungs that I Love My Savior Jesus Christ. Sister I love you as a sister in the Lord. Be Blessed
Do you believe everything regarding crystals and astronomy is negative spirited? I relate a lot to the feeling aspect of your story but different roadmap in experiences. Grew up Christian, believing i should be all in if it's the truth. Tasted positives, but the negatives i experienced of religious communities outweighed it for me eventually. It honestly felt cult like. To me followers seemed scared of their own flaws, scared of showing doubt, judgemental, forced happiness or to-do lists to escape their own insecurities, fixated on being saved or ''fixed''. In simpler terms i experienced it as inauthentic. How people act is not a detriment to God's character or if he's real or not, but it is what led me astray as i couldn't fathom how the ones supposedly closest to him seemed just as lost and fake if not even more. Me and my younger siblings experienced long lasting health issues, i became obsessed with learning about health, training, psychology, trauma etc as i had my doubts on the origin of the issues. This helped me a lot but if i tried conveying this as our responsibility instead of ''praying for healing'' i was usually met with resistance. (Luckily no longer the case) I became agnostic for about 2 years ''rebel phase'', which relieved me from some of the perfectionistic self judgement i picked up from religion. Eventually i started believing again but in a more holistic way, less of the pre-conceived views. I lean more towards the Christianity because of my upbringing but i struggle with the idea of there only being one path. I believe all form of faith has some merit and that everyone is trying to grasp something we don't have the capacity to fully understand. As of now i believe there are universal guidelines to living a fulfilling life but ''the truth'' is something we need to find personally. I still find myself seeking after something though. Self help has it's own swamp of self-absorption. I dont know much about new age, crystals and astronomy. But if a loving higher power has created everything i would assume everything is supposed to be used for good but has been misunderstood and or miss-used. Despite believing, faith has been on the shelf in my life for a long time now. Thanks for sharing, made me want to give it a new visit
Thank you for sharing your story! Similarly for me, I feel that a lot of Christians fall short of how we’re supposed to act if we truly love Christ. One of his most important commandments is to love each other!!!! And as strange as it sounds, is seeing the imperfection of others and their attitudes more evidence that we’re all imperfect people hungry for the love of a perfect God? It’s true, a lot of Christians are hypocritical, but people will always disappoint us, that doesn’t mean God will! If we are righteous, if we build a relationship (truly) by prayer and focusing our eyes on the actual word of God, I think that’s really when the Holy Spirit can be seen by others. Not that it doesn’t already dwell in us, but we can get distracted and lost in the world, eventually influenced by other things that might make us act poorly. I also love holistic healing! I believe Jesus can heal anything, and ALSO that he gave us herbs to help us heal. Psalm 104:14 KJV “He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, And herb for the service of man” Also, I don’t think crystals themselves are evil, they grow in the earth… I think it’s the idolization of them and using them for witchcraft that is negative spirited. Astrology is what I gave up, different than Astronomy… Astrology is the study of how the stars and planets positioned at your birth basically map out your entire life and personality. It was also an idol for me and I was obsessed with it. And as for complete truth, I also struggled with that at the very beginning of my journey… I wanted to be respectful of other cultures that practiced differently and thought we could all basically get to the same place by doing whatever. That’s where faith comes in, and overtime my faith has been poured more and more into Jesus himself rather than Christianity. I focus on what he said, how he acts, and for further convincing if you need… read Imagine Heaven by John Burke. Lots of NDE stories of people meeting Jesus, even some that didn’t believe in him. The depictions of him align biblically. Or Case for Christ by Lee Strobel, he was an atheist who tried to disprove Jesus and ultimately became a believer in the process. Idolization is a great way of explaining the negatives and i guess it could also explain my experiences with followers who seem more like ''pharisees''. Don't get me wrong i have met loving authentic Christians, but i still felt like a lot of them were scared of challenging their own narratives as i believe there is more beauty and healing to be found behind our so-called protective/trauma masks. I think a lot of believers self-sabotage by not daring to look at their dark sides and coming closer to their authentic selves. If God is real he created us to express ourselves fully and i don't think there is anything he want's more for us than to forgive and love ourselves the same way he has done. We won't get there unless we stare into the abyss at times instead of performing as ''perfect followers''. Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” Matthew 22:37-39. I think a lot of us has forgotten the part about ''thyself''. Thanks again, i think the most important thing i'm getting from this is that i haven't found a community where i have felt seen for expressing myself fully with doubts and all. To be fair i haven't searched for it in a long time. I feel pull to give it another go now. As you have said in another video, you become who you surround yourself with. I have learned a lot while searching on my own but i have experienced enough to see i was never truly alone, guided behind the scenes. I consumed mostly of the world though and faith especially is a rough task alone. Appreciate the recommendations, will give some of the books a go!
