A very tidy buttonhole!! You just have to pay attention to the rows/yarn overs... I really like this one even though I'm not knitting anything with buttonholes at the moment. Thank you Heather, this is an easy to follow tutorial!!
Thank you so so much for this amazing video!!! So informative and easy to follow. I was able to use this to add a hole for the dog leash when knitting a dog sweater. For anyone who is interested, I made a hole over 8 rows (with 4 yo) within the purl diamond of complicated cable pattern. I did several swatches first to determine the hole placement, which I found valuable.
This probably wouldn't work well for that case -- you'd have too many rows and need to make quite a few yarnovers. It'd be better to break the yarn and work the vertical sections separately in that case.
Wow! That is so clever. Thank you for coming up with this one, I’ll definitely be using it. Have you found that it looks better with smaller (4row) rather than larger buttonholes? I will go make a swatch and try it out. Thank you 😊

You're welcome! Glad you liked it!
This is great. I listen with the sound off and sped up x2 to just see the method. This was very clear even without the audio.
It's wonderful to hear that!! Thank you!
I did the opposite, I slowed it down 2X with the sound.😂
Whatever, the result is great.

You are so welcome, I'm glad it could be applied successfully for what you needed!
Very well explained. Thank you so much.
You are welcome!
Thank you! Do you recommend doing this for arm holes for a cape?

How can i slow the speed up. i wish is was all done at normal speed but thanks for the tip
In the settings (the gear icon) there is a playback speed item, you can change it there.

Yes, smaller is better -- fewer yarnovers wrapping above the buttonhole!
Could you do this method for a large button hole? Say, if it needed 7-10 row height?
Yes! You'd just need to make more yarnovers to account for the more rows -- 2 yarnovers per repeat of the set of rows on the one side.
Amazing!

Ok, but this isnt good.for a button band though.
It works just fine for a vertically-knit buttonband. Really none of the true vertical buttonholes are good choices for a horizontally-knit buttonband.
@@HeatherStorta What I mean is theres no edge , its just stockinette.
