    Now, if every auto repair video was made with easy to follow no doubt included steps such as yours! TH-cam University (as I like to call it) is an amazing go to for the diy'er and we'll made videos go a long way in easing the dreaded repair woes. Thank you for a job well done.

    Would be a good idea to add a small coating of oil to the o-ring just to ensure you don't have the o-ring roll or tear when being installed.

    • @TheCommo81
      @TheCommo81 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, that or a light coating of assembly lube. Something to get it to slide in and not bind when it goes in.

    I had a dealership do this exact work for about $350. Upon getting the car back, I noticed oil drops in my driveway (again). Multiple calls and an email to the dealership and to the manager has not gotten me a call back or any response whatsoever. So, I will now attempt this job myself. Thank you so much for your video!!

    • @auuurrrgh
      @auuurrrgh  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ugh! That would be super frustrating. They should warranty their work if they would just answer their phone. I suppose it's possible something else is leaking or it pooled somewhere on the frame during the original leak. It's really easy to tell if it's still leaking since it's on the top of the engine.

    • @lindatorres9311
      @lindatorres9311 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@auuurrrgh Well, you were right. Something else is leaking. I did the work exactly like you showed. Cleaned up all the pooled oil. There is still a leak somewhere and its landing on the frame below. It's only on that side of the engine. The valve cover has been changed twice already. It doesn't seem to be leaking from the top, or the bottom, it's like mid engine somewhere I think. If you have any ideas about what else it could be I would appreciate it. Thank you Ryan for your great video.

    • @auuurrrgh
      @auuurrrgh  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a few more seals on that side. You might try a UV dye kit to help you find it. They come with a light and glasses and it'll make the newly leaking oil glow so it's easier to find.

    • @lindatorres9311
      @lindatorres9311 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@auuurrrgh I'm thinking its going to be the crankshaft seal. The one where the timing belt spins on. Expensive......I'll try the dye...thanks Ryan!

      Ended up taking my car in to a big chain repair shop. They had the car for a few hours and then called and said they could not do anything unless I picked up the car and power washed the engine underside so they could get a clear view of a leak. It felt like a lie of course. But I picked up the car anyway. I threw in a bottle of engine stop leak. I’ll see what happens. Wish me luck.

    • @auuurrrgh
      @auuurrrgh  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mine was just an oil leak with no other symptoms except for the smell of burning oil in the cabin. I had another car that had a bad actuator and it got worse gas mileage, reduced performance, and generally didn't seem like it was running right.

    What was the symptoms of a bad solenoid?

    • @auuurrrgh
      @auuurrrgh  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'll end up with a check engine light. I had a car where it went bad and the car would shudder under acceleration at the point where it would change timing. On the cruze, it's a common spot for an oil leak.

    Where was the oil leaking around where did you know this oil leak

    • @auuurrrgh
      @auuurrrgh  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was leaking on the bottom half of the solenoid about where the connector goes in. It's on the top of the engine, which makes it easier to determine if that is the problem. I cleaned up the oil underneath it and drove it to work. Then I popped the hood and saw the fresh oil coming out. Haven't had an issue since.
