The problem is the Rock "skipped" the line to fight Roman which pissed the fans off. What I'm not 100% sure of is if this whole thing was planned to make the fans feel like they mattered and had a voice. In reverse psychology terms it made them more invested. That may have been the plan all along. There's no way they were dropping the title to the Rock with him only having 3 months of time to give to the business so Cody was winning that belt no matter what.

The role The Rock is currently in makes me tune in to see what's next. I stopped watching wrestling back in 2007 but I'm all for what's next for wrestling. It's also good seeing the kids of former wrestlers on the roster and getting a name in the game.

They were trying to redo Austin vs The Rock trilogy. It was not back to back. You had Wrestlemania 15, 17 and 19. Wrestlemania 18 was Hogan vs Rock. Rock was trying to give Roman Reigns his Hulk Hogan match.
Cody and Seth needs a third or fourth man when challenging the Bloodline, since Bloodline consists of Roman, Rock, Silo and Jimmy Uso with Paul Heyman. Since Jon Moxley can't help Seth, since Moxley is staying with AEW, Seth and Cody needs to find their own Enforcer. With what transpired on Raw with Jimmy costing Jey the IC title, Jey is likely teaming with Cody and Seth, so who should Cody, Seth and Jey enlist? My opinion: Brock Lensar or a returning Brawn Strowman
Rock turning heel is also another way that WWE could push Roman into being a face again. They could have the story go something like Rock costs Roman the title at WM (or at least causes him to lose via DQ), Roman takes a break while Rock asserts himself as "Head of the table". Then Roman comes back to regain his position but Rock refuses to back down leading to Rock vs Roman at Summer Slam.
Even though its a storyline you cant just come back and grab someones opportunity like that and cody deserve this main event chance win or lose he main evented twice back to back wrestlemania 💯....
They already admitted that they were expecting backlash. Anyone who believes that this wasn't intentional is a mark. The fact that they intended to create controversy is because Cody won the royal rumble. It's been tradition that the winner of the royal rumble gets his opportunity for the title. If they truly didn't intend for this to be controversial why didn't they just have the rock come in during the royal rumble and win it. That way there's no controversy. They didn't. It's why you know it's kayfabe.

It’s really amazing how great The Rock is as a heel or a face. He can be gone for a decade and come back and instantly be the best part of the show. The buildup to Mania with the Rock and post mania without him is a noticeable difference.

i call cap, punk was suppose to win the chamber for seth. cody rock and roman were always going to be doing what they are. the pivot was going to be rock vs reigns and cody vs seth but they just went back to what they were/are doing which we aren’t even sure what they are doing. a tag match, cody or roman double duty, or special ref rock seem like the most likely things. the chamber should take the tag match off the table but 🤷♂️
Something doesn't make sense to me. If Roman and The Rock was "the original plan" why did they have Cody Rhodes win the Royal Rumble? Now all of a sudden Cody Vs Roman was the original plan? They were trying to redo Austin vs The Rock trilogy. It was not back to back. You had Wrestlemania 15, 17 and 19. Wrestlemania 18 was Hogan vs Rock.

With what transpired on Raw with Jimmy costing Jey the IC title, Jey is likely teaming with Cody and Seth, so who should Cody, Seth and Jey enlist? Rock turning heel is also another way that WWE could push Roman into being a face again. They could have the story go something like Rock costs Roman the title at WM (or at least causes him to lose via DQ), Roman takes a break while Rock asserts himself as "Head of the table". Then Roman comes back to regain his position but Rock refuses to back down leading to Rock vs Roman at Summer Slam.

They already admitted that they were expecting backlash. Anyone who believes that this wasn't intentional is a mark. The fact that they intended to create controversy is because Cody won the royal rumble. It's been tradition that the winner of the royal rumble gets his opportunity for the title. If they truly didn't intend for this to be controversial why didn't they just have the rock come in during the royal rumble and win it. That way there's no controversy. They didn't. It's why you know it's kayfabe.
Best heel work I've seen in a long time. Gave us a compelling villain for Cody to complete the story.

Well, it looks like a pivot. It looks like it wasn't supposed to happen this way. So i guess it's not that good a pivot. Hopefully, the superstars can make a great match, but it's obvious someone messed up something. Now at the same time I didn't want Cody's story to be taken from him, I still eventually want to see rock vs Roman, and I just hated the fact I thought I was getting it, and now am not, cuz lets be real, codey and Roman are active wrestlers and we can see them wrestle anytime, but we have no idea when Rock is completely going to hang up the boots because he'd eventually no longer be willing to risk injury, since he's one of the most sought after actors in the world.

Might be an unpopular opinion. But Hunter has been in, and a part of the business for too long to simply think “the rock returning out no nowhere will be more of a pop against Roman Reigns than Cody finishing his story”
