The jump from PS1 to PS2 is still mind-blowing to this day. Personally, I don't think any other generational change in consoles has come close to this, apart from the 16-bit to full 3D jump.

@@olevet75 Depends on what you grew up. I grew up with bootleg NES in western europe, and then I got a PS1. I was mindblown, but thought that it could get much, much better. Then I got a PS2 with gran turismo 3 and I simply could not immagine better graphics :D Kind of funny, thinking back :D
At this point, Nenkai is one of the pillars carrying the GT Community.

I grew up with c64, nes, mega drive, by the time ps1 came out I was in my late teens, was blown away. But the jump in graphical fidelity with PS2 was unreal when developers got a handle on the machine like polyphony did the results were slick. Gt3 was a showcase of what the Ps2 could do.
I still think GT4 is the best PS2 racing game and the best in the series.

I gotta be honest I’m not a huge GT fan but I love seeing lost media like this.
The HUD from the last demo was so cool, its sad they didn't keep it
I had every Playstation magazine back then. I remember very well. Heck I still probably have the magazines. When PS2 demos were first shown and screenshots were seen GT3 looked nice, but not particularly special visually. It was a bit flat and plain. Even as late as mid 2000 when E3 coverage emerged as you are seeing, it was just....ok. These captures were used in endless previews. Then when the finished article arrived in April 2001 the game was dramatically better looking. It was amazing seeing the captures from the Japanese release with import reviews. I will never forget it because it exceeded my expectations so much. I don't think i have ever seen a game improve visually so dramatically in such a short space of time. For years now we have only had the opposite from most reveals. It wasn't always the case.
That remix of Casino Drive at the start with the Coffee Break thing is never going to leave my head now at the start, great....
The old ps2 demo disc menu really deliverd the big nostalgia feels

The first track in first demo is basically just Gran TUrismo 2 version of that track but with better draw distance.

90's and 00's is really a massive leap
from 8 bit and 16 bit that in 2d jumped to full 3d and even better the pixelated 3d to going full HD at the time
and what's crazy is in 5 or 6 years span,gran turismo got big leap. from pixelated 3d gt2 in 1999 into 1080i GT4 in 2005
7:42 Literally the stuff of nightmares. Saw something like this one day, I'm not sure what it's called... "Garbage Textures" maybe? It's one of the few things that genuinely terrifies me the most.
weird phobia lol, It happens a ton in the ps2 emulator, if you change enough of the settings you can sometimes get rid of it
You can fix it by using Software Mode

@@kmsthanks no, software mode is just the original crap PS2 graphics. In hardware mode you can push the original 3D models and resolution to early PS3 graphics with even better resoultion than original PS3.
Fuck man, you made me feel old. I was 10 when the 99 demo came out.
You can actually play and drive on the replay theater demos, but you’ll need to change some codes to load into the tracks using cheat engine

The GT 2000 demo has wild reflections for the year 2000
Because, aside of graphics, GT3 is a demo itself... A spec(prologue) docet... Even if GT3 full release never see the light, not as in GT4!!!!

Somewhat. It's a remix I made based on the stems from that song and a couple others from GT3 using a program called StemRoller to split up the instruments.

What would be gold are the GTHD/GT5 Alpha/Beta Builds. I remember a video of GTHD with bikes and cars at the same time.
The point of drift handling is to drift and have fun drifting, not everyone wants to set hotlaps and speedrun
I wonder how the demo would be if you could mod out the time limit...
There is a cheat code to do that it just goes straight to replay after you cross the finish line

It's likely not that difficult to create since it's probably only using one value that counts down. There probably are cheats made already.

Gran turismo 3 or 4 what's better.
Back when unfinished games were hidden or sold in low numbers as demo versions and now we have to pay full price for alpha versions of games like FH5, NFS Unbound WRX Generations and so on... Even GT7 dissappointed me... Game is just about talking to some snobs in a restaurant giving you menu books and you do 3 races with a car to win 3 cars, cant sell cars, small amount of race tracks (could be way better if they introduced touge from Initial D) and even not enough cars... And some cars that should be in racing games are just missing like for example I have played for around 50 hours so far and BMW M3 GTR is non existant there, not that I like BMW but its just not there... AE86 has both Trueno and Levin but Trueno is "professionally tuned" and leving is "Road Car" and thats it... I get if there was only 3 door version of all 4 versions of AE86 plus that one professionaly tuned hatchback but them sedan versions are just missing... Half baked alpha versions of games... I just pray to the God that TDU Solar Crown will be actually a good game featuring AE86 and such, cuz if not then I will be so unhappy with racing games over all and I might even start making my own...
