    Great job. It shows you how one man with determination and a good plan can build anything. When you had to have hearing protection for using the chain hoist I understood that kind of motivation. I loved the video format that way I could watch at 2 different times. Thanks.

    Gotta say man I'm liking it. The trolleys are double the strength needed....a good thing. My opinion a bridge crane is the best and you nailed it. I like what the heavy lift engineer said. Explained it clearly. I built a couple gantry cranes and jib cranes, but if you have the room and funds gotta love the bridge crane. You have a great build that will serve you far into the future.

    Congratulations on the production of the single-girder bridge, but I would like some answers.
    1) Did you use technical drawings for this production?
    2) How did you attach the tie rods to support this bridge? Did you pour the concrete slab and mount it with a sheet on top?
    3) You did not indicate the capacity of this equipment. What would this load capacity be?
    4) In short, did you carry out the calculations to manufacture this bridge?
    Thanks for the answers.

    Very elegant work!!! Simple (but not crude!) construction, careful workmanship - these are the factors of reliability.
    You know what else would be useful to you, which, contrary to appearances, is not very difficult? Winch drive in the X and Y axes. I think that for this purpose you can use a drive for sliding gates with a rack.

      @@MechanicTechnic Wait a minute. So you're saying that the only thing holding all the weight of the whole crane is the threads of the rods? Maybe adding a thick plate w/ the hole drilled out for the backing plate instead of washers might give a little more strength. Also, double the amount of rods at each corner, redundancy decreases chance of catastrophic failure.

    • @internettoughguy
      @internettoughguy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    • @dev-debug
      @dev-debug 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@internettoughguy Look at a gantry crane, nothing hangs by bolts, the frame supports it all. There's only 2 all-thread at each end of the side beams. He could add supports to the side beams to the ground at each end or at least beams at a 45 degree to the wall if it's concrete and double up on the all-thread at each end. Large plates above the ceiling to spread the load instead of washers. Just some basic changes that would greatly improve safety.
      Hopefully it works out for him but 1 ton would scare me when moved towards the corners.

    I don't want to poop the party, but shouldn't it exist a technical project that would specify all the details about span/thickness/bolting/supporting/bracing etc, made by a specialist ? In my country (Romania) cranes are heavily regulated and there is an official body that 6:12 approves (or not !) all about cranes, overhead or otherwise. People who design such cranes should hold a certain license to do it. Also companies that manufacture them need to meet certain conditions and they are regularly audited by the governing body. All the overhead cranes that I have seen so far have their runways supported from underneath , either straigth on by the pillars or by braces that are welded on said pillars! There is no such thing as hanging runways ! You want axial compression on the pillars, not axial tension in the bolts ! Anything from creep/fatique/earthquake/ SHF (shit happens factor) is an ingredient for a potential disaster recipe here. I suggest you add pillars to sustain the runways, pillars that would have at least 10 mm plates welded on either side and paired up with welded plates underneath the runways at one end, and bolted down on the concrete floor at the other end. My opinion, your life.
