Hi Ken, I'm a 63 year old Brit who is just getting his first kayak, and starting out on a decades old desire to tour some of the UK's rivers and lakes! I have you to thank for finally getting around to it, watching your TH-cam channel has given me the nudge I needed! So a huge thank you and please keep those videos coming!

Great video. I live south of Knoxville and the Tennessee River line is on my short list of kayaking trips. I'll be impatiently waiting for further videos of the Tennessee river.

Now that's a darn good day! Paddling from Holston River Park to Calhouns on the River for Ribs and Fried Green Tomatoes in the shadow of Neyland Stadium. Gotta do this trip soon! Looking forward to seeing more videos of paddling trips further down.

I hope you get to use it so much that it is covered with scratches and then you can decide it you want the gel coat redone so you can do it all over again.

Just a suggestion. Many times shuttle service determines if a paddle is doable for a day. Especially for older paddlers. If there are shuttle services please list them. They’re almost always small Mom an Pop outfits. I and many would be more than happy to pay for the service. You mentioning them gives them needed advertising from a recognized pro!

Neat to see how Knoxville has embraced the river. Great episode. Looking forward to more, I really enjoy the Paddle Tales, because I get both a kayaking and a travel video in one.
I'm sure you already go this season all planned out, but I highly recommend you plan at least one episode for the Buffalo River in Arkansas in future seasons. Plenty of great folks in the Arkansas Canoe Club would love to show you all the State has to offer. Also, just across the border in Oklahoma they are almost done with a new WW park called WOKA.

Ken Please please PLEASE show the beginners that you turn your torso when you paddle.
Any self respecting Volan would have tipped you out “Cmon dude, you’re making me look bad paddling like that!!”
Love the channel, cheers from Australia!

Where exactly are you able to get out of your kayak & safely leave it, to be able to stop at Calhouns for lunch?

    • @PaddleTV

Just left the kayaks on the dock. Because we were eating on the deck, we could easily keep our eyes on the gear too... but I felt very comfortable leaving the gear there.

I tested the p&h volan last fall. The boat performed great but like it's sister the piranha it was miserable to sit in. I ended up with a NDK pilgrim instead. Would love to hear how comfortable the volan was in your opinion.

Iv had many yaks over the years. I’m 63. The only issue for me when I first bought my Volan 160 was the height of the seat made the yak so much more responsive. A year later now I’m absolutely loving it. Best yak Iv ever owned. Probably my last, it does everything so well !

I am a long dist, it's kayaker as well.. What type of issues do you suffer from from sitting down? So long? I use a wet suit and sometimes deal with infected hairs or some kind of Acme or sis, what's wondering if you suffered the same thing and what I could do to prevent it.

Scratches on a new boat make me nervous too. That's why I bought a boat with more than 4000 miles on the odometer.

Knoxville one of the most beautiful cities you’ve ever seen? Seriously. I live near there. We don’t go there a lot due to ridiculous traffic. The lakes are nice though. You realize TVS has destroyed a lot of lives, right? But the river is good as polluted as it is. There are still newcomers who jump into it at Sequoyah Hills neighborhood horrifying the locals…
