    Dear brother. Yesterday when I was looking to listen to two other brothers regarding Doctrine and Covenant, your talk caught my attention. I read and then left the last 10 minutes for today. I thank you most kindly for this. I so enjoyed all. I am a convert to the church and had no intention of joining , but our Lord filled me with a great thirst to “Know him better” The minister of my church was moving and he gave me the advice to read John in the Bible. Once done , the thirst was still there. Now of 8other brothers and sisters, in our family, the youngest boy had joined the church. He advised me to listen to the missionaries. “You can tell them up front you do not wish to join the church.” Well I surely needed someone to spend at least 8 hours with me taking care of this great thirst. So the missionaries came and two months later, I was baptized ! God, our Heavenly Father, has been so kind to me and I have been blessed with his help , and especially blessed when my only son was killed at 17 in a car accident. Imagine that happening and not having the priesthood. I have a strong testimony of the priesthood! Thank you for a wonderful presentation. I just gobbled it up!

    The added historical context you add to the come follow me manual has been invaluable. It makes the D&C more insightful. And judging by the amount of views you are getting on your TH-cam videos... thousands of others are learning the same as well.

    I am enjoying these lessons so much. I can’t wait to listen to this again. Tom, your my new favorite TH-camr, or influencer lol! I needed this so much. Thank you for your effort, I wish you knew how much it is appreciated! I had a person like Pauline on my mission, too. Malcolm. He passed away before he could accept the gospel. I am so grateful you shared your testimony tonight to make me reflect on my own sacred experiences, and that dear man. God bless you and your family.

    Thank you Bro. Pettit. While I knew most of these stories, I learned some new stuff. I truly appreciate your diligence and research. I've spent many hours at this historic sites. Some amazing events happened at these locations.
    Also, thank you for pointing out words change meaning over time. Often those who want to criticize the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints do so based on our 21st century meaning of the words (as well as ignoring the Spirit). Words like rest, vision, fear, etc., had different meanings throughout the history of the English language.
    Keep up the good work.

    Thank you again Tom! You have no idea how much these videos mean to me!
    By the way, it’s always so interesting to me, all these powerful witnesses in the early days of the Restoration, they all went in active for a time or for good, I actually think that makes it more believable because it shows the imperfections of mortals, but it also shows the power of testimony because they never denied what they knew! “The Spirit is willing, but the Flesh is weak” -Jesus Christ

    Thom, I listen to you tell the story of David Whitmer plowing the field before going to Harmony I recall from my reading of church history that this was one of the first accounts of the three Nephites assisting the Lord's work. The three Nephites finished plowing the field they also spread the gypsum on the field to the great astonishment of the Whitmer's.

    As an author, I can tell you that I write. Once finished I re-read and update the writing. Five or six re-readings with editing and I feel like I have a complete book. I could not have written like Joseph Smith did, and do not believe anyone could without divine intervention.

    All you need is to accept JESUS CHRIST as your Personal Savior, ask HIM to forgive all your sins, and follow HIM! Please look into Mormonism very very carefully, use your intelligence. God lives EVERYWHERE, most especially inside US (if you have accepted Christ and repented!). The Bible tells us WE ARE THE TEMPLE OF THE ALMIGHTY GOD! Praise Jesus, for He is Worthy! PRAYING FOR YOU!

    Please consider this very very carefully, it's so important.
    The so called witnesses to the golden plates, even if they saw and handled metallic plates with 'writing' on the them, could not possibly have any idea of their written meaning (if any) as they were allegedly written in 'reformed Egyptian', an unknown language then and now.
    They could not tell if they were genuine or fake, or if Joseph had indeed found them, nor where or even when.
    For all those details they relied solely on Joseph Smith's account.
    So their testimony was simply that they believed everything he told them about the plates.
    Today, as then, that is the foundation of the Mormon faith, they believe implicitly everything he claimed for himself, taught and wrote, that's the heart of Mormonism, and the great and abiding gulf between it and Biblical Christianity.
    Kind regards to all, especially Mormon folk.

    • @storiesoftherestoration2080
      @storiesoftherestoration2080  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, their testimony is that an angel came down from Heaven and handed the plates to them. They never claimed to read reformed Egyptian.

    • @geoffnoyes520
      @geoffnoyes520 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@storiesoftherestoration2080 Dear sir/madam,
      Thanks for the reply, Biblical Christianity is based on the authority and accuracy of the Holy Bible, and it's truly astonishing amount of manuscript preservation, historical, linguist, and archeological evidences and proven reliability over the centuries.
      The Book of Mormon has none of these, l trust the Bible completely and rejected Joseph Smith's 'other gospel' the Bible warns us about and his boastful and frankly absurd claims for himself.
      God promised to preserve his word, and he has done it.
      Christianity's is built on the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Bible,
      Mormonism is built primarily on Joseph Smith's testimony and that of his friends, family, and acquaintances.
      I follow the Lord Jesus, the rock of my salvation, and acknowledge the Overriding and final authority of God's word, the Bible with complete confidence, therefore obviously I'm not a follower of Joseph Smith.
      Kind regards to you.
