A former black metal band puts out the best pop album in years. That's special.
This is clearly a pop record hahaha. Ulver even describes it as pop. Are you an elitist who's offended by the term pop music? Or scared to admit you like a pop record? Jesus guy.

This is synthpop if you wanna get more specific but yeah dude tons of good pop music out there it’s mainly just top 40s that suck
It might be pop, structurally it isn't 100 %.
Some intro's are too long, some outro's are too complex.
And lyrics are not "user friendly" as well as that they often are strangely macabre.
I mean, for a great deal this can be classified pop indeed, but i highly doubt this will ever become mainstream music.
@@oropher1234 Genre called art pop (which this album is also) isn't radio friendly all the time, some of pop records are harder to understand than many rock fans think they are. The Dreaming by Kate Bush is clearly art pop album and it has many non radio friendly tracks

10/10 song . Ulver never disappoints.
Got this on repeat since it came out. Finally more vocals, would be a pity not to make use of Kristoffer's stunning voice. The song is catchy, but in a good way. If this is their "pop" album, well, I'd love it if all pop music was like this.

yo the band "Rome" (search with "hyperion machine" to avoid erroneous results) and "Spirirual Front" (from modern Rome, sry) fulfill my Ulver-pop pallate--it's all in the vocals though, they aren't synthy...
Maybe "Triarii" might get you where you need scratchin too...but you're so right.

Hey guys, remember when Ulver was BM? I'm so glad they evolved but kept the quality.
To be fair, they only had two BM albums, and even those were different from one another. The next 10 albums were all in a different style.
Bonefish I said what I said for that reason. Most ulver fans I know are still mad about that.... I guess some people want style over the substance.
I understand. I just don't get why people call them a black metal band. It's not like they did BM for years and then suddenly changed genres. They made a significant genre change every album (which is amazing)
Bonefish they probably get that rep because they made better black metal than all the other Norwegian bands, except for maaayyyybe Ved Buens Ende or maaayyyybe enslaved

This album is a masterpiece.
Experiencing the entire album + the EP at a live show, with smoke and lasers, was life-changing. I cannot thank these people enough for the music they've made, it had enriched my life unlike any other band.
Carpenter Brut "Cheerleader Effect" brought me here. Damn brilliant.

when they tour, a live video of this track should be made. im obsessed. what thrills me the most is that first advance tracks are never my favorite from an album. so i can only imagine whats still to come.
This is so fucking good. Love their more droney, meditative stuff but I'm also a sucker for Garm's vocals, which were kinda lacking on the last album, and this delivers in spades. Ulver are nothing if not master shapeshifters album to album.

This song needs a video where people dressed as ancient Romans are dancing on a discoteque. Maybe a dance contest as an allegory of the battles in the colosseum.
