He grows and changes with every single day, just as other musicians, artists and people do. Also, the whole album hasn't been revealed yet, so how do you know it's nothing like + ? His album choices and musicianship is not for anybody to dictate.
It's always nice to hear a different side to his music and watch someone grow as an artist. Maybe he's just showing what else he's capable of? But people just hate change, i guess. :/

I was always a fan of hip hop, but I loved + because it was raw talent, but to now hear that raw talent moving into hip hop territories with songs like Sing and Don't, and even in slower songs like this, hearing a beat and more instruments, is quite literally music to my ears! Great job Ed!
I'm confused as to why people have thought this album would be like a + Part 2. Ed's grown a lot in the last few years, so his style has grown with him. He's getting the chance to work with producers like Rick Rubin, I would expect no less of him than to take risks with this album! That's his style! He'll still do acoustics of these songs, but I'm happy for him because this new album is so out of the box! I truly do love every song.

Ed, I don't know if you will ever read this comment but I want to thank you for "thinking out loud". On June 2, 2016 my wife Karen passed away from cancer. Before she passed we agreed that the last song to be played at her funeral would be your "thinking out load" because it told the story of out love and life together. We met and married at 23 and she passed just 4 months before her 70th birthday. It is a beautiful song and meant a lot to both of us. People are so stuck on "+" they can't appreciate the amazing songs on this album. Ed already has a "+" album, he can't continue to make it over and over again. Allow him to express himself in different kinds of songs the way he wants to. No one wants to hear someone make several songs and albums that sound too similar or even exactly the same. If you really enjoyed "+" simply go listen to it. Just because his last album was a success doesn't mean this one can't be.

Heard this song on Jools Holland a few weeks ago and it was absolutely incredible. this version is definitely slower, and I'll be honest I preferred the faster beat he performed on the show but this is definitely one of my favourite tracks I've heard from Multiply so far!

It's sounds MORE like Marvin Gaye's song than that other major lawsuit where they accused and beat George Harrison for stealing She's So Fine. This is a rip off plain and simple. Despite what the courts say. I hope they appeal.

He did an acoustic version of this a while back and I think it's better. I really like his new sound though, but he has songs like "hold on" and "tenerife" that are more like "+" on his new cd. Either way I'm excited to hear the rest of the album!

This is a beautiful relationship song! The drum beats in the song, along with the guitar, sound very romantic and very pretty! I love listening to music with drums and guitar, especially when it's a romantic song!
I'm literally the most obsessed John Mayer fan there is. I do have an ear for music, and I can say that these two songs sound entirely different, and the only thing uniquely similar between the two is the drums. John and Ed's styles are so completely different, ESPECIALLY in waiting on the world to change and this song. John usually has an entire band behind him, and when he doesn't, his guitar playing is nothing like Ed's. John is such a percussive guitar player that if he were to have a song that sounded like Thinking Out Loud (or vice versa, however you'd like to state it), he wouldn't use a snare in the back. Ed's guitar playing does not sound like that at all. It's very different. Simple, and pleasant, but unique. Waiting on the world to change is really a blues/rock song, while this is obviously acoustic pop. Ed's song is simple and to the point, and John, as he did in the entire continuum album, has his songs dressed up and especially waiting on the world to change is dressed up more than his other songs. And above all else, the messages of these songs are absolutely nothing alike at all. not one bit. And honestly if that's not enough difference for you in and of itself then you might need to give some thought to how you're interpreting music. And not not talking bout any "ice ice baby" and "under pressure" conflict, because that was the exact same tune. That is what is called copying. This is not copying, this is having a slightly similar style, if that, for one song.

Wow. This kid is ridiculous. He is the most talented musician out there and can't be associated with just one genre. I have to now put him up there with James Morrison. They're both amazing vocalists and even better writers. You deserve all the money that is coming to you my friend. This is the type of music that can change a life.
This is a once in a generation love song. Just wonderful. There is much talk of 60's ingenuity with this type of song but this is up there with the best. The sentiment is perfect, the tone of voice is magical and, from my point of view, will live long in my memory.

I love this song. Although, I still find his live performance a bit better for some reason. It's weird. Maybe he should have just released the whole album before doing this one shot song releases, since everyone has already gotten used to his live performances, so people tend to do more 'comparisons' instead of loving the song as a whole itself. I'm not a big fan of Sheeran BUT this song is fantastic, a great song for weddings with a great, upbeat rhythm and warm, soothing vocals that are just so pleasing to the ear. Keep making music like this Ed. It's much better than what allot of these artists can put out of their arse.

Guys, if you really think that ed ripped off this song for thinking out loud, then ever 4 chord patterns are ripped off for every song that uses them. Think first before making a big deal about the case. Its the court’s decision after all. Both songs are amazing.
It's sounds MORE like Marvin Gaye's song than that other major lawsuit where they accused and beat George Harrison for stealing She's So Fine. This is a rip off plain and simple. Despite what the courts say. I hope they appeal.

But imo, Ed is clearly innocent. To me they sound nothing alike. Both songs though, are masterpieces.

I love that Ed Sheeran is trying new things, but some of the tracks are kinda overproduced for my taste. Just Ed's voice and a guitar is enough for me lol.
In an interview he said something about how he will still tour with just his guitar and loop pedal- so in some ways, he's sticking to his old style. But i would still love to have an acoustic album. :)
He did an acoustic version of this a while back and I think it's better. I really like his new sound though, but he has songs like "hold on" and "tenerife" that are more like "+" on his new cd. Either way I'm excited to hear the rest of the album!

This is a beautiful relationship song! The drum beats in the song, along with the guitar, sound very romantic and very pretty! I love listening to music with drums and guitar, especially when it's a romantic song!
If you weren't brainwashed by today's so called "music", you would see that this is an amazing song and that Ed did an AMAZING job on this album.
I'm literally the most obsessed John Mayer fan there is. I do have an ear for music, and I can say that these two songs sound entirely different, and the only thing uniquely similar between the two is the drums. John and Ed's styles are so completely different, ESPECIALLY in waiting on the world to change and this song. John usually has an entire band behind him, and when he doesn't, his guitar playing is nothing like Ed's. John is such a percussive guitar player that if he were to have a song that sounded like Thinking Out Loud (or vice versa, however you'd like to state it), he wouldn't use a snare in the back. Ed's guitar playing does not sound like that at all. It's very different. Simple, and pleasant, but unique. Waiting on the world to change is really a blues/rock song, while this is obviously acoustic pop. Ed's song is simple and to the point, and John, as he did in the entire continuum album, has his songs dressed up and especially waiting on the world to change is dressed up more than his other songs. And above all else, the messages of these songs are absolutely nothing alike at all. not one bit. And honestly if that's not enough difference for you in and of itself then you might need to give some thought to how you're interpreting music. And not not talking bout any "ice ice baby" and "under pressure" conflict, because that was the exact same tune. That is what is called copying. This is not copying, this is having a slightly similar style, if that, for one song.

This is a once in a generation love song. Just wonderful. There is much talk of 60's ingenuity with this type of song but this is up there with the best. The sentiment is perfect, the tone of voice is magical and, from my point of view, will live long in my memory.

I love this song. Although, I still find his live performance a bit better for some reason. It's weird. Maybe he should have just released the whole album before doing this one shot song releases, since everyone has already gotten used to his live performances, so people tend to do more 'comparisons' instead of loving the song as a whole itself.
