A lot of these "SEIKO" movements are actually clones. Sometimes with slightly rougher finishes and sometimes with slightly better than the originals. I bought one of these in April. I love it. They must regulate their NH35’s as it keeps better time than any of my Seiko’s with the exception of my Gen1 monster.
I agree with you about seiko not getting it quite right with their reissues. The 6105 8110 is my favorite watch of all time. I have an original and several clones that I use as daily beaters. The seiko reissue lost me with the 3:45 crown and the drilled lugs. I think the rdunae 6105 8110 homage is closer to the original.
The 6105-8000 survivors are pretty hard to find and gotten really expensive - for this kind of dive watch. I had an original 69 proof proof watch a few years back and it was lovely, but was never a safe daily wear as WR was a worry. This opens up opportunities to do what you propose - a bullet proof watch using original parts - how cool is that. Your knowledge, as always, astounds - ignore the personal attacks. It’s just watches ;-)
Thank you Spencer for another great video. I just don't understand people and their hate. As you said it is just a watch. A consumer good, that's all. Yes some watches have sentimental value to the owner/ wearer. But still just a thing. Again thank you for your videos. They bring hours and hours of enjoyment and escapement. Please stay safe and well..
Hi Spencer, that was very interesting to see. Please ignore the haters, your talent with regards to Seikos and your knowledge of their history is fantastic, and worth remembering when you get comments like that. I have to say I am not a fan of homages, but your talent (and available resources) has converted it into a very acceptable frankenseiko! All the best, Neel
Thanks for an honest and sensible review as I would have expected from you. Bravo! Also you have made me feel a little less guilty for doing mods/restorations myself. All the best. Kevin
As I have said before you are good at what you do mix and match till you Hearts content, never mind the people who make nasty remarks to you they are probably jealous, keep it up Spencer, you can now get back to your MG
On the caseback...yes, threading is the same, but thread length will be different because the NH35 is using the stock grey non-diver movement spacer which is 1mm thinner than the diver movement spacer used on the 7S or 4R in the SKX or SRP Turtles. As a result, the movement won't be as snug with that spacer caseback combo. The threads on the Rdunae are longer to compensate for the thinner spacer. Those of us who mod our SKXs with NH36 have been dealing with this for years by swapping spacers. However, there are plenty of aftermarket casebacks available for the stock NH3x spacer.
The Rdunae second hand is significantly longer than the original (~2+ mm). On one hand, this is a functional improvement over the original insofar as the hand actually hits the second markers on the dial. This also perhaps requires greater assembly precision as any minor misalignment will be immediately obvious. The tradeoff... ...Aside from a deviation from the original, the 'stoplight' tip of the Rdunae design can obscure the hour markers as it passes over them when viewed underwater. Furthermore, because the Rdunae's second hand drapes completely over the minute hand, if a diver unluckily times when he glances at his watch, the top of the minute hand can be obscured when the second hand sweeps past, making the minute hand more difficult to distinguish from the shorter hour hand.
All I have to say is beautiful, wonderful watch you made there. You are what I would call a watch modder. I have been doing the same since the '70's when I want to change mine out to something different. These guys that do parts swapping I do not call watch modders. Also, the people that hate on homages, why aren't they hating on Marc at LI watch. Isn't that what he is pushing himself.
Now that’s a hot rod! I may get one to tinker with. May throw in a modernTurtle dial and hands. Like you said, it looks good and you can wear it without worry. 👍🏼
Dear Spencer, did you already remove the hands and the dial? If so, could you please give us an update about the spacer below the dial? This would be so kind. Best regards, Uwe
Has anyone swam with these Rdunae watches? I doubt that they are tested for water resistance...I definitely would like to get one as a vacation watch for snorkelling but just don't want it to flood.
Have you done a more detailed explination of the dial and movement rings that need to be adjusted/swapped out? I'd like to undertake this project and I was hoping for some of your great knowledge.
Nice to hear some love for hardlex, I'm with you on that. On the subject of reissues, as well as the Arnie I would add that the Samurai save the ocean they released last year is worth praise, beautiful attention to detail on the dial and bezel including flat neatly applied markers!
The end result with the OEM parts looks fantastic! I wonder if an original bezel insert would also fit. The missing dots on both sides of the triangle bothers me more than it should.
Hi Spencer. Trolls suck. I've concluded that FaceTwitterChat should be collectively called anti-social media. That's discussion for another day however. Your passion for Seiko is remarkable, but expecting faithful reissues may be unrealistic. Companies rarely do so, and not just in horology. To be successful a company must continually move forward. I believe that this is what Seiko is doing whether you agree with their plan or not. But not to fear, these small (and frequently Chinese) watch manufacturers are filling this niche with watches such as the one you have. Accept it, revel in it, and don't bemoan that it doesn't say Seiko on the dial. Life is short.
I just received the Rdunae R2X 6106-8110 homage Saturday 11/4. I ordered it based off your videos and thoughts on it. Thanks so much for your videos. So, I had the Steeldive SD1970 homage and sold it and ordered the Rdunae and I am so glad I did. I am seriously considering swapping the NH35 for a better movement but I don't know much about the movements. Do you have any recommendations for such a project for a guy who is very mechanically inclined, even on small stuff, but doesn't have the "watch" experience as of yet? I will be ordering a timegrapher, recommendations on that also? I have seen the ones listed on Amazon for about $150 to $170, are those good enough for the hobiest?
My biggest gripe is the crystal. Not because of the sapphire, but because of the lack of bevel. Hate that you can see the black chapter ring really wish it was like the actual 6105 and it had the look of the indecies reaching out to the bezel. Purchased one and thinking of getting a SKX crystal to get a better look.
I just bought one of these too, and I agree - they did a pretty good job on many aspects. I had trouble getting the bezel back on, too... I finally figured out you have to take out the bezel insert out to get the retaining spring in, but once you do that, it is a piece of cake... I just wish I had known that before I slightly bent the bezel :( But that's what I get for being impatient and not thinking it well through before trying.
It seems that Seiko need their own Fred Mandelbaum type of historian onboard. Someone who knows the heritage of each model and how they weave and develop over the different iterations. If Seiko are listening SPENCER KLEIN is your Fred Mandelbaum!!!
If the Rdunae has a 4 o’clock crown how does the date wheel of the NH35 line up with the date window? Did they make a custom date wheel? It’s my understanding that the date wheel on the NH35 will line up at the new standard of 3:45 like SKX, and 4:15, but not 4 O’clock, so what gives here?
I am going to do this to my WR watch 6105 Willard. Get an aftermarket 6105 dial, use a new Oreint Star F series movement which a super 6000 series and get an aftermarket 6105 chapter ring. Hopefully the new Orient movement will take the existing crown and stem.
Greetings ! Another Great video , Thanks ! I had seen a video on the watch repair channel comparing the 4R35 movement and the NH35A movement and it seems they are identical . The machining marks on the bridges were exactly the same . Anyway , I was wondering what you thought of the 4R35 movement ? Also , I've always thought that unless you are a collector , that it's silly to buy a watch that you are afraid to wear every day ..... Keep up the good work .... :)
Thank you Spencer for your very usefull video I have a Rdunae r2x watch and I would like to change the dial. The r2x is 4 o'clock crown. On the internet I can find dials 3.8 or 4.2, but not 4 exactly Do you know if a 3.8 or 4.2 could fit my Rdunae ? Thanks at lot ! David

Good morning Spencer and thanks for the prompt release of pt 2! Sorry to hear that you are taking flak for your views around these watches. Just ignore it, haters got to hate to feel important. Question: you mentioned differences in spring bar holes, do you think one of the Uncle Seiko metal bracelets would fit? I'd like to have one of these watches to satisfy the nostolgic Seiko diver vibe in me, but there's no way I'd pay $1000 for an original! Thanks again and hope the MG is coming along.
Sorry for late viewing of your video sir. I wonder how you put a 6000 series in a case where it is intended with 7000 series because as far as I know, the 6000 series is exactly at 4 oclock while the 7000 series specially that 7s 4r NH is at around 3: 48 ..now will that fit directly or you have something being adjusted ?
I think I found the company that makes all these brands. I’m having one made with my own logos on it and the dial, crown everything. I let you know how it goes.

Crown position wouldn’t work. Isn’t the crown position of the 6105 or 7000 series a true 4 o’clock crown versus 3:45 for NH35. And stock grey NH movement spacer is 1mm thinner than the 7S movement spacer for divers that you’d find in an SKX but they are otherwise the same.
Well, I kind of viewed the Rectangula as a source of spare parts, mostly the case, from the start. On the dial / hands / movement, I have all of them here, orphaned. They're not from a particular watch, they're all spares I've found loose over the years.
Thanks for the interesting video - people have opinions and then other people who disagree start insulting them. As before, I love my Steeldive homages and we are told all these homages come from the same factories so maybe this Rdunae (catchy name) is no different or maybe its slightly better - that may be the same for the San Martin version too. The point is, they look great, are good timekeepers, and very wearable and we don't need to worry about them being too valuable (we can always get anothher one). But why haven't Seiko done these themselves? Maybe they make enough from selling loads of their movements - maybe even indeed they make more than if they made the Willards cheap themselves - this way they have more cachet. Who understands the marketing of Seiko?
Spencer I have the Rdunae. Diver. Mine. Works. But it stop. It runs for a while but it stops. Can you tell me what it cost to redo it like the one you did. Please
The feet are in the wrong place. You'd need to cut them. I strongly strongly strongly advocate against cutting the dial feet on any dial, never mind a 6105 dial.
Dear @@SpencerKleinVintageWatch thank you for your fast reply. I thought it was a good idea to ask a Pro before even thinking about doing something possibly really really stupid. I will for sure NOT destroy a 6105 dial. Promised. I was looking for a "drop in and OK" mod ;-)

Interesting, I thought saphire was more clear and with less distortion effects than hardlex or acrylic etc. I mean that when comparing same shapes. Not a domed vs a flat. As for the AR, I'm not obsessed with it. I find it as one of those things watch enthusiasts just get passionnate over as a habit more than anything else. It's not as bad as the " oh my god it has no screw down crown " situation that is quite ridiculous though' BUT I find some brands use a strong AR as a design feature, for example the Squale 1521 : I own one, and because it is completely flat and 100% aligned with the bezel, with a dial that pops out, and hands contrasting with the dial, it gives the impression that there is no saphire glass at all. Surprisingly, it adds depth ro an otherwise painted, flat dial. It's mesmerizing, and exceptionnely clear to read. I think that without AR it would be glaring everywhere and we'd loose that charm.
Yes. Hardlex will scratch maybe, but it's very hard to shatter. It's resilient. This is why it was originally used for dive / tool watches. Sapphire will resist scratching but if gets hit hard enough it'll shatter, and then poof goodbye watch potentially. Sapphire became a thing (IMO) when watches started being more fashion than tool, and a cosmetic blemish like a scratch became a much bigger deal.
If Seiko took the new Willard's and dropped the price $200 and got rid on the prospex logo it would be perfect. Hell have Orient do it, have them put in their new 6000 series movements in a put a Suwa logo on the dial.
@@NathanChisholm041 ok confused about that part cause in the video you mentioned it the other way round hence why I asked. Check 5:20. Ok all clear now thanks!

Yeah, the 3:45 crown really turned me off. The drilled lugs just made no sense.
What kind of nuts attack Spencer Klein?? Great videos, enjoy every one. Keep them coming Spencer and Sabrina!
Great vid, love how the watch turned out. I would wear that every day.
*Spencer Klein* Perfect as always. Have a superior day :p
Great series, I look forward to seeing where you take this ultimately.
Right on!
Dear Spencer, did you already remove the hands and the dial? If so, could you please give us an update about the spacer below the dial? This would be so kind. Best regards, Uwe
Gosh, that was so long ago I've completely forgotten, I'm sorry.
Damn I was hoping you’d take the hands and dial off that Rdunae - curious about that spacer you mentioned
I'll need to do that anyway as I want to use the handset on something else, possibly.
Spencer Klein please let us know or make a part 3 😎
My biggest gripe is the crystal. Not because of the sapphire, but because of the lack of bevel. Hate that you can see the black chapter ring really wish it was like the actual 6105 and it had the look of the indecies reaching out to the bezel. Purchased one and thinking of getting a SKX crystal to get a better look.
A lot of that is due to the markers not being fully truly flat like the originals.
You should do a tutorial of the install...
Thank you spencer for all your info I love this watch can you tell me how my running gears really or mind keep stopping if I move it starts
Please do a review on the new 6105-8110 they made!?
Are the dial feet on the rdunae for an nh35 as in 3 oclock, but with the movemrnt holder holes set up to a 4?
Date wheel is different to align with crown-at-4. Like a 7002.
@@SpencerKleinVintageWatch did you ever find out the additional spacer under the dial?
Spencer your a good person and I enjoy your reviews.
Thank you Spencer for your very usefull video
I have a Rdunae r2x watch and I would like to change the dial. The r2x is 4 o'clock crown. On the internet I can find dials 3.8 or 4.2, but not 4 exactly
Do you know if a 3.8 or 4.2 could fit my Rdunae ?
Thanks at lot !
David
Is it possible to mount the seiko dial on the NH35?
rdunae released a 6105 8010 called the redunae R2X, it is amazing.
I am happy love your video I feel you no what your doing i am happy to see some one who cares about his work i just bought the same watch like your I hope some day to buy one of your 6105- 80000 anyway my fake 6105- 8000 keeps stopping mostly like when I go to bed I wear it all the time do you have any ideas a bout the stopping thanks keep up the good work ok
I had to make the 7002 date-at-4 date wheel work on the 4R movement. Took a minute, but I did it.
Love ya man! Keep up the excellent work. Absolutely love those longer reviews
Thanks, and good to know.
I think I found the company that makes all these brands. I’m having one made with my own logos on it and the dial, crown everything. I let you know how it goes.
If you're willing to share that info, please let me know. :)

It took a lot of digging about 3 months. I’ll message you on IG with the the info.
These movements have a 4 0'clock date wheel. They drop in perfectly aligned for a 4 o'clock case.
First time I saw you so excited for a modding work. Other than the repairing ones.
Well, I kind of viewed the Rectangula as a source of spare parts, mostly the case, from the start. On the dial / hands / movement, I have all of them here, orphaned. They're not from a particular watch, they're all spares I've found loose over the years.
Spencer. You rock. If anyone. Say nagative. Comment. Just. Dont let people rule. Your. Life ok
I’ve been looking to buy one of the homage watches so I decided to buy this one . Just waiting now till it arrives
Hmmm. Thinking I might buy one and put a MM300 dial and handset in it.
Spencer I have the Rdunae. Diver. Mine. Works. But it stop. It runs for a while but it stops. Can you tell me what it cost to redo it like the one you did. Please
very cool!
Spencer do you think a NOS 6105-8000 dial would go onto the NH35?
The feet are in the wrong place. You'd need to cut them. I strongly strongly strongly advocate against cutting the dial feet on any dial, never mind a 6105 dial.
Dear @@SpencerKleinVintageWatch thank you for your fast reply. I thought it was a good idea to ask a Pro before even thinking about doing something possibly really really stupid. I will for sure NOT destroy a 6105 dial. Promised. I was looking for a "drop in and OK" mod ;-)
To avoid wearing your 6105,check out the Steeldive version on albai watch store on Aliexpress.I have one and it's awesome right down to the original pattern on the crown.....................................
Master Jedi Spencer 👍
That'd be nice except I form and maintain personal relationships based on emotions. I'm the opposite of "detached". So, I'd be a Grey Jedi at the absolute best.
@@SpencerKleinVintageWatch absolutely the best in my book you are Master Grey Jedi🙏
Cobbled together parts to get it working 👍🆗
Really cool project. What would be the practical cost of one of these?
Depends on the dial and handset used, since those would be the biggest variable.
Nice job , looks very nice. Ignore those that write insults
Loved it! But did you put that little drag wire in before pressing the bezel back on?
Click wire first, then tucked the retaining wire into the gap in the case with the points holding down the rotating ring. Then the insert back on.
I got a lot of flak on a local Seiko forum for buying a San Martin 62 mas. Left them and new Seiko watches behind.
Spencer, Will the NH35 handset transfer to a 6000 series?
Reluming the stop light to pink would improve the look dramatically imho.
Awesome! So we can buy these and ship them right to your place for upgrading then?? Lol
.
Seriously, it looks great. I'm not mad at it.
I have a Seiko Arnie for sale Do you know where I would go about getting it to a collector
Does the original have the same black rehaut that this has?
Yes, it's just narrower.
@@SpencerKleinVintageWatch interesting. And I think it looks different because the Rdunae has a smaller bevel on the crystal.
I know it's not iso rated but can I trust the water resistance on these watches?
I need to do a pressure test.
@@SpencerKleinVintageWatch that would be awesome
Interesting, I thought saphire was more clear and with less distortion effects than hardlex or acrylic etc.
I mean that when comparing same shapes. Not a domed vs a flat.
As for the AR, I'm not obsessed with it. I find it as one of those things watch enthusiasts just get passionnate over as a habit more than anything else. It's not as bad as the " oh my god it has no screw down crown " situation that is quite ridiculous though'
BUT I find some brands use a strong AR as a design feature, for example the Squale 1521 : I own one, and because it is completely flat and 100% aligned with the bezel, with a dial that pops out, and hands contrasting with the dial, it gives the impression that there is no saphire glass at all. Surprisingly, it adds depth ro an otherwise painted, flat dial. It's mesmerizing, and exceptionnely clear to read. I think that without AR it would be glaring everywhere and we'd loose that charm.
So generally you like Hardlex over Sapphire?
I would to take a new turtle. Get a 6309 dial and swap in a 6000 series movement. Throw in sapphire crystal and a ceramic bezel while I am at it.
Awesomeness! That was fun.
Polywatch an some elbow grease will take off AR coating
If Seiko took the new Willard's and dropped the price $200 and got rid on the prospex logo it would be perfect. Hell have Orient do it, have them put in their new 6000 series movements in a put a Suwa logo on the dial.
Just curious why is hardlex clearer than sapphire? I thought I’ve read sapphire provides more clarity but loses that warmth.
Its does! Sapphire has a much better refractive index!
@@NathanChisholm041 you mean hardlex right?
@@kenshin81x Sapphire is clearer than Hardlex! I wrote an article on WUS about it.
@@NathanChisholm041 ok confused about that part cause in the video you mentioned it the other way round hence why I asked. Check 5:20. Ok all clear now thanks!
@@kenshin81x Did i? I must off been drunk lol
Nice job!
I love it Spencer! I want it!
Well, I have my fully put back together Rdunae here and it is available, if you wanted. If you were looking for it as I modded it, with genuine movement dial / hands etc, that setup is no more. But it was nice.
Is it possible to swap out the sapphire crystal with one of your 6105 crystal reproductions? Will it fit?
Nothing we have is in that size - 31.5mm. All the originals were 32mm
Great video...why would anyone be angry?
Sorry to hear about the abuse. Some people believe vintage watches are a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.
Dang, man. That’s sad that people get so upset as to personally attack you over this. I’m sorry that happened.
Actually I like it better with Rdunae branding. I don't want to pretend that I have an original 6105-8000 but I like the style of it, so this is the reasonable solution. There is a great demand for these classic reissues, Seiko ignores us, so shame on them. I would buy this same watch from Seiko for 500 bucks hands down just for the legacy of the brand but they seem not need my money so I buy it from Chine for 200.
First time watching very good
Thanks and welcome
Superb!
I'd like to see Seiko making a new 6105-800x, but it's a bit like hoping Ford could start remaking the '68 Mustang. . . . .
The sla reissue is a mess. They used the wrong crystal, the indices are terrible and the price is well......ridiculous. You're exactly right, it just looks weird and wrong.
