    Good tips! I'm also in the 1700s. It used to seem like an unreachable rating to me where people would play really solidly and never blunder. But 1700 players still give away pieces and pawns all the time. Maybe 1800 is where the blunders really trail off... we'll see :)

      @KDlearns  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      That’s exactly how it felt for me! This big scary rating and then you realize people still blunder every game! Just about whether or not you can see why they blundered 😅

      I am 1600 elo player I play 15 10 min game my opponent never blunder full piece in simple tactics yeah sometimes they do but finding that blunder needs more calculation than finding blunders on 1200 elos game or 1000 so yeah 1600 still do blunders or 1700 but finding them is realy hard

      @@CHESSGUY950 People blunder less in 15|10 generally... compared to 10min games

    I just reached 1700 as well after starting chess a year and a half ago. So proud of myself.

    Recently, I've been having a lot of struggles in my chess career. I was almost at 1700 (1680), but then I just went on a massive losing streak and I've been stuck in the high 1400s for the past two months. Any pointers?

    • @bluecocacola
      @bluecocacola ปีที่แล้ว +5

      if you're from 1600s and now stuck in the 1400s, I think you're playing a lot of the games out of tilt (which I'm also guilty of) The advice I would give is probably to try to stop when you feel you're tilting too much

      My advice, don’t play as many games, just do puzzles and study for a while. Playing games to try to raise your elo is doing it backwards. If you get better, it won’t take many games to get back to that elo.
      It might also be better to play in “focus mode” where you can’t see the elo.

      If you can get there once, you can get there again. Here are some general tips that might help you out:
      1) When you play, limit distractions. Throw your phone into the other room or just somewhere out of reach. Minimize all other windows other than chess.com
      2) Stay hydrated! Underrated, but your brain needs proper nutrition, hydration, and sleep for "peak performance" although it doesn't need to be perfect for you to play well
      3) Do your puzzles. Do some puzzles to warm up. Do puzzles to train. Make it a habit to get your puzzle work in and improve your board vision!

    I just found your channel. I have to say your content is top quality. Your story telling, humour and passion are inspiring. Unfortunately, I have noticed that you have stopped playing Rapid completely since this video came out. And you stopped posting on this channel. I know chess is a tough crazy game and life can be even crazier. But I hope you are doing well. I will be waiting for your return (comeback).

      Way too kind! I have sadly retired from chess content. Went back to working full time in finance and playing too much pickleball nowadays 😅 still play chess for fun tho! Hope you enjoy your chess journey!

    When someone plays the Alapin against me I don't capture on d4 because that opens c3 for white's knight. I play a Taimanov anyways so e6 opening my dari square bishop gives me a more French like structure and I'm fine

      Time control. 1700s playing 15+10 almost always reach endgame.

    "Never give up, never resign!" Let me respond to this quote. Always resign and give up because I'm likely to blunder away my whole advantage if you don't quit after I win one of your pieces 😂😂😂

      I don't have one! I'm in the US so most tournaments are not FIDE-rated. Current USCF is 1400s, but I really need to play more. Haven't played any rated event since Vegas in June where I gained 80+ points

    Took me a year to get 1700 rapid. Playing unusual openings helped me to get here I think. I play ponziani and czeck pirc. If anyone struggling they can try learning any uncommon openings and can get 1700
