Great Video! Another tip for small PDF's: Set the compatibility to the lowest version of Acrobat -> for example "Acrobat 4 (PDF 1.3)". It will safe so much data! Try it out! :)
Well this guy kept me alert :P I've seen many tutorials and they speak either too slow or explain too much out of the point or the voice is too low or soft which isn't bad, but combined all together they made me fall asleep before they actually get to the point xD This guy here tho might be a bit high pitched but he had my attention (couldn't do otherwise :P) I liked him and the explanation and i tried the settings you used here I had a 49 mb file and made it down to 11 mb with a good quality .Now i can send my e-mail :P Thanks a lot!
@@medutenikayode477 Sorry for the belated reply. I'm using InDesign CS6. I'm not sure if I did some extra tweaks to get the size down to 18 MB. Please let me know if I can help.
I found out sth very helpful myself that couldn't find anywhere and decreased my file size even more. It seems that having a big image or pdf in my indesign file, spreading to two facing pages, affects the exported pdf size regarding to one option as follows: when I export from indesign to pdf as spreads I see a significant difference in size to when I export as single pages. Exporting as single pages seems to make pdf read the big file twice (once for each page), while exporting as spreads probably reads it only once.
This was super helpfull, but...I have a file that has some text on top of an image with transparency...and whn I export it becomes a white rectangle on top of the image...What can I do?
Help me! I can't see any "Adobe PDF preset" in drop-down menu How can i restore them in my adobe applications (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign)
Was interested in the lowering of file size, and this seems to take some of it. But my files are still pretty big for a simple, 2 page A4 file. Even and empty file is 300 kb.
Hello, do you know how I can export small size pdf from InDesign such that pdf wouldn't be bigger than original InDesign file. Because no matter what I do, my pdf is 50mb while Indesign only 9mb
I don't get what's going on, I've followed this exactly, yet I can't get my PDFs below 1500KB, and for some reason changing the image quality doesn't do anything, Maximum looks identical to Low.
And that is explained in the tutorial: the default "smallest file size" will output a bad quality file, because the compression in the images is too big.

Straight to the point, clear, entertaining. Why cant all tutorial videos be like this?
Great Video!

Very helpful video - totally saved me. What's with the sad little trolls that feel the need to make fun of someones voice in a tutorial???
This was great. Concise and useful, even for InDesign in 2020. Thanks!
Fantastic, thanks heaps. This really helped me reduce a multi-page image PDf from 14mb to 2.6mb with barely any quality loss! Awesome stuff.
Thank you David!
The video really helped resize my document from 580 MB to just 18 MB.
Superb!!!
ABM please which Indesign did you use for this.. I’m trying to resize a 15mb pdf to less than 4mb

Wait? So it's a turtorial on how to make a pdf larger than it would be using the "smalest file size" setting? Good titling. Very useful...
why? makes perfect sense. Small filesize, but still usable.
And that is explained in the tutorial: the default "smallest file size" will output a bad quality file, because the compression in the images is too big.
