The stronger these feelings the more they twist themselves. The light ones like mierukos father or the kittens from zen and that scary looking guy are those who may not be bearing those feelings but choose to stay to watch over a beloved one.
Ghosts can shape shift their forms into human ones if they get suspicious about someone seeing them also in the manga there's a scene where Miko is in the hospital bed and suddenly a old lady who seemed pretty chill appeared beside her, she did interact with her and suddenly the old lady turned into a creepy ghost and went to attack her
Juleka mediunity is weak while myerukos is extremely strong. Even the old lady and another guy that appears later who actually trained their mediunity cant see spirits as clearly as her, the big and scary monsters she sees appears as only black fogs and auras to the other 2, but she sees their true form in detail. In a way its more of a curse than anything, the other character i refered to also discovered his "ability" very early and such things also made his youth traumatic, and he wasnt even seeing the scariest ones like mieruko, her resolve is incredible to not have gone mad yet.
The scariest one was in my opinion the one who followed Hana and became even stronger. He made a fear factor of 2/10. While all others are maybe nearly 0,5/10. That makes him the best for now.
I remember this anime, I couldn't finish it. It was just too stressful for me, in a way you could say they succeded in the 'horror' aspect but not in the regular way "scary monster vewy scawy", but in the absolute horror that is this poor girl's life. She can't react, she can't be scared, she can't tell anyone and she has to endure it every single day... This was too stressful to watch for me hahah
For me as bad as i felt for mieruko, i kept wanting to see more because i kept cheering for her and how she not only started finding ways to circunvene the ghosts, she started using it for good sometimes. Like when she helped that old lady whose husband ghost kept trying to tell her the password of an old safe of his, or even the conclusion to the teachers character and who was the big ghost stuck to him.
Yulia over exaggerates everything that Miko had, she may be lonely, but she'd suffer less of what Miko saw and it might be better that way. She may be brave but her usual hiccups would turn her in the worst case that Miko is trying to avoid. Yulia WILL try to notice the ghost, terrible cruel vengeful ghosts, not the ones that she can see since childhood. And for that, trying to be a 'spiritualist' will shatter immediately. Unlike Miko, Yulia is way too steadfast to her dream. While Miko does not want anything of that, while she does had a tremendous talent of being the possible 'strongest' spiritualist that what Yulia imagines. She doesnt WANT any of that to be her norm. She is just a teen girl before and suddenly dropped in the hellish view of mixed spirit worlds between in the mortal realm. Also in one why to say in my opinion, we seperated may be, that i like Miko handles things maturely than Yulia. She is RISKING her LIFE everyday trying to ignore this eldritch level ghosts, and btw she got this Cythylla-like woman gravure loving her at the latest chapters. Who knows if she turns out to be an enemy or a really really terrifying 'bestfriend' that is way too affectionate to Miko, but for the moment that 'thing' or the girl exist, It feels like no ghost can kill her right now.
